Episode #9 - December 5, 2018
Scott Parker: Welcome everyone! We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and thank you for joining us here tonight. We’re marching on towards Next Level: Turmoil in just two weeks! It’s the final stop and we have some breaking news on how the finals for the Tag Team Tournament will work.
Gemma Foster: Tonight we’ll see three teams move on and those three teams will all meet in the finals of the tournament in a triple threat tag team match. Talk about turmoil!
Scott Parker: The other question that will be answered tonight is who will face the Heavyweight Champion, F.M. Young? Either Kurt Hullum or Chelsea Pryce will earn that right.
Gemma Foster: December 19th can't come soon enough.
Topple a Giant
Ash Fi tucked away the last of her crempog as the cameras caught up to her. The Welsh woman pulled her hair back into a ponytail. A smirk crawled across her red lips.
“ T’be quite honest I didn't do what I did in regards for anyone. As Mr. Demonstar might already know, we're not as much strangers as one may think. I was a little one back then, really. When I first met him I clung to my dat's leg and hid. I'm not much for hidin’ these days. And I haven't talked with my dat in some time. Still watch that show, though. Interesting to see how things changed.”
Ash reached into a bag that was placed on a table and produced two things. A DVD case and a mask. A closer inspection by a nostalgic fan would reveal the mask was the original crimson ghost mask. The DVD was labeled 'AoA: No You're Not’.
“Danny. This isn't about some long standing family rivalry. It's about forging my own path. It is about toppling Giants instead of standing on their shoulders. I've watched your matches hundreds of times. By the time I entered the business. I thought the chance to test myself against my dat's oldest rival was long gone, yet here we stand. But you won't for long. Don't despair dear ol dat is on the list of Giants to fall as well”

Edwards Evans Vs. Cliff Maxwell
It was time to get things underway as Maxwell and Evans were in the ring. They quickly came to blows and exchanged lefts and rights before Evans finally hit a stiff European uppercut. Evans held control of the match before Maxwell countered in the corner with a headbutt and eventually hit a superplex off the top rope but only got two. Evans got up and sent Maxwell over the top and hit a suicide dive. Evans thought he had the match won once back in the ring but Maxwell kicked out. Maxwell got to his feet and walked right into a right hand from Evans that knocked him out and the bell sounded as the referee saw the brass knuckles in Evans’ hand.
WINNER: Edward Evans, via DQ @ 9:04
Evans chuckled after the match as Maxwell started to come to.
Ash Fi Vs. Daniel Daemon
Fi and Daemon never got started as the two were brawling in the backstage area. Fi looked like she was landing some solid blows but things quickly came to a halt as Daemon hit a sidewalk slam through the catering table. Daemon stood over Fi before walking away.
Good Luck Charm
We find ourselves backstage where Johnny and Ollie Maverick (along with their mascot Rocket who Ollie is carrying) are roaming. Ollie stops a random employee in the backstage area
Ollie Maverick: Excuse me? Sir? I’m looking to make my tag team as lucky as possible tonight and it’d really help if my single brother over here had a good luck kiss.
The man just sort of nervously chuckles and walks away.
Johnny Maverick: Ollie, look man, you don’t have to-
Ollie Maverick: Silence! This is just as much about luck as it is getting you some. You need to really cut loose. Excuse me, ma’am? Wanna kiss Johnny?
Ollie says this as they approach a woman who is also a member of the staff who just ignores Ollie and keeps walking as she’s too busy.
Ollie Maverick: See, this is because you’re starting to get up there in years. You’ve REALLY lost your mojo.
Johnny Maverick: Ollie, look, this isn’t…
Ollie Maverick: Okay, here’s a long shot… Hello? Miss Pryce?
Ollie approaches Empire Wrestling star ‘The Ice Queen’ Chelsea Pryce who they run into backstage. She’s wearing her signature Asymmetrical black dress with a long slit along the left side that goes up to her mid-thigh. Of course, this is accompanied by her stylish black stiletto high heels. When Ollie calls out to her, she turns around to face him and his older brother, Johnny. She regards the Glorious Bastards with a tiny smile.
Chelsea Pryce: Yes…? What’s the matter, Oliver?
Johnny starts to try and say something but is interrupted by his more talkative and energetic younger brother.
Ollie Maverick: Look, I know this is asking a lot because Johnny has lost all of his sex appeal now that he’s gotten old and stuff, but you’d REALLY be helping us out if you could give Johnny a kiss for good luck. I know that’s not the most appealing thing you’ve ever been asked to-
While Ollie tries to plead a case, Chelsea’s jade green eyes look over towards Johnny, then towards the camera. Her lips press together to form a thin line before she takes a step in Johnny’s direction. Her left hand reaches out, taking his right hand, and she pulls him forward into a sweet, sincere kiss. The fans in attendance are cheering loudly in approval.
Ollie Maverick: Aaaaand look at them go. Wow. You must REALLY want us to win this match.
Johnny is kissing Chelsea back, returning the sweet sincere kiss a bit until he turns her and pins her to the wall and the kiss becomes a bit more intense. Ollie and the audience are starting to get the impression that perhaps this is not their first time kissing each other…Ollie covers Rocket’s eyes.
Ollie Maverick: I...I think...I think he’s lucky enough... Uh... Miss Pryce, we, uh...we have a match and... oh dear. Hey...HEY! We just need a little luck! I didn’t say to luck his brains out!
Placing her hands on the sides of Johnny’s face, Chelsea hesitantly breaks the kiss and takes a moment to simply breathe. She then looks up towards Ollie, Rocket, and the recording camera, a tiny blush on her cheeks.
Chelsea Pryce: ...Sorry. I decided not to keep it a secret anymore.
Johnny Maverick: Yeah It was...probably about time for that. I’ll see you after our match, okay? We’ll figure out something for dinner.
Ollie is wide-eyed and slack-jawed. Rocket looks at Chelsea, then at Johnny, then perches himself on Ollie’s shoulder and holds out his little raccoon paw for a high five. Johnny smiles and accepts.
Johnny Maverick: Hey, a raccoon high five! Didn’t you say at the last show those were lucky?
Ollie Maverick: I think… you’ve already got all the luck you can handle, big bro.
A soft chuckle escapes the Ice Queen as she lightly scratches the top of Rocket’s head. For her to willingly interact with the raccoon… It’s quite the contrast from her time in Spirit and Pride Wrestling.
Chelsea Pryce: See you later, boys. I’m going to get ready for my number one contender’s match against “The World of Kurt”.
With a sly smile, she turns on her heels and walks away, leaving behind a still stunned Ollie, an overjoyed Rocket, and a grinning Johnny.
Hell’s Belles (Casey Grey & Alicia Monroe) Vs. Paradise Tango (Azurine Vebbins & Talia Areano)
The action in this match was fast and furious to start things off. Vebbins and Monroe went blow for blow before Monroe took Vebbins down with a swinging neckbreaker. Monroe had control until Vebbins countered an armdrag and made a tag. Areano kept things face paced and even hit a perfect roundhouse kicked that looked like it knocked Monroe out but she was able to kick out at two. Monroe made a hot tag to Grey and Vebbins was also in the ring. Grey took out Vebbins with the Breath Mint (Forearm Smash). Areano entered and was hit locked into the Bitch Muzzle (Crossface) but she wasn’t legal. Vebbins broke it up and hit the Pearly Gatekeeper (Dragon Suplex into a Double-Handed Jawbreaker). Vebbins went for a cover but Monroe broke it up. Monroe tried to hit Vebbins with the Freebird (Running Bulldog) and drove her feet into Areano with a dropkick. Vebbins then countered with a back drop. Vebbins turned and was hit with Grey’s Racklash (Rack Attack) and covered for a three count.
WINNERS: Hell’s Belles, via pinfall @ 14:40
A Rolls-Royce in the Garage
The camera takes us backstage, right in front of a big Empire Wrestling banner. Adam Stryker is standing there, clad in jeans a black Stryke Dojo t-shirt. And judging by the look in his face, he is not too pleased.
Adam Stryker: Good evening, Empire Wrestling faithful. The Ringmaster, The SoCal Switchblade, Adam Stryker coming to you live from backstage. Not from the ring, as usual. From backstage. Which is kinda the reason I am not my usual sunshiny self this time around.
He folds his arms across his chest and sighs.
Adam Stryker: When I signed the contract with this company, I assured the people in charge that I am gonna be at my best. I am going to be a workhorse, putting on great matches at every event, doing all promotional activities and side tasks they might need me to do. I assured them that my one and only goal is to be the best wrestler this company has, the man that can carry the entire brand on his shoulders, the man that would eventually climb his way to the Heavyweight Championship. So the higher-ups nodded their heads in agreement. Then they booked me against a guy I can only assume is the resident village idiot here after hearing his comments on someone losing to a woman. Okay, I can take that, I've been in the ring with worse. But then, on the next episode, they don't book me at all.
Stryker shakes his head.
Adam Stryker: Answer me one question, dear faithful Empire Wrestling fan. When you have the chance to buy a luxurious item for yourself, say... a Rolls-Royce automobile. Do you buy it... only to keep it in the garage? No. Of course you don't. But see, that's just how I feel. A luxurious car locked in the garage, deprived of the chance to get on the road. So I got one friendly reminder for our friends in the offices. If you wanna put asses to seats, if you want to be the next big thing in this business, let me do what I do best, let me face your toughest competition. And soon you'll know why they say that STRYKER. IS. WRESTLING!
We cut back to ringside.
Glorious Bastards (Johnny Maverick & Ollie Maverick) Vs. The Purge (Artemis & Ellen Shrader)
This wasn’t so much of a match as it was a brawl. The referee couldn’t keep things contained and all four went back and forth with blows. Between spears, big boots, German suplexs, and DDTs the ring saw plenty of action. Johnny hit his OFMF (Running Palm Strike) on Artemis and tried to get a cover but it was quickly broken up by Shrader. Shrader hit Johnny with a running knee to the back of the head. Shrader turned to Ollie and locked in Merciless Killing (Muta Lock) but Ollie refused to tap out before finally getting to the ropes. Ollie started to fight back with the crowd on his side and hit a reverse atomic drop, Chutzpah Boot, Dreidel Drop combo. Artemis came running across the ring and hit Ollie with a big spear. She jumped up and turned right into Johnny and his Third Eye Opener (Ripcord Bicycle Knee Strike followed by a spinning backfist). Johnny covered and picked up the three count.
WINNER: Glorious Bastards, via pinfall @ 10:23
Shrader tried to attack Johnny but Ollie pulled him out of the ring and they celebrated and left.
Kurt Hullum Vs. Chelsea Pryce
Before the match could start, AJ Adams made his way to the stage. Pryce and Hullum locked up and went back and forth for most of the start of the bout. Hullum hit the Kurtain Kall (Hangman's Facebuster) from out of nowhere early and looked for a shocking win but Pryce kicked out at two. Hullum kept control of the match and tried to tire down Pryce. The action came to a crawl as he kept Pryce grounded. Pryce eventually started to gain ground as she counted a strike from Hullum and locked in an armbar. Hullum was able to get his way to the ropes but Pryce flowed right into a STF. Hullum struggled out and rolled out of the ring to catch his breath. Adams started to make his way down to the ring which caught Hullum’s attention but Adams just walked around him and stood at the apron. Hullum rolled into the ring and Pryce missed a running forearm to the face. Hullum hit a powerslam and was fired up. Hullum jumped to the second ropes and pulled off his elbow pad. He dove as Pryce stood and hit her with an elbow strike. He started to stalk Pryce and as she stood Adams reached into the ring and tapped Hullum on the leg. Hullum turned around and Adams asked him if he knew the time. Hullum was confused and Adams said “Oh, time to pay the Pryce”. Hullum turned right into Pryce’s Pay the Pryce (Double Knee Facebreaker) as she covered for the win.
WINNER: Chelsea Pryce, via pinfall @ 11:33
Adams smiled as he went up the stage, looking at Pryce as she became the new #1 contender to the Heavyweight Championship.
The Spectres (Riley Rouse & Mighty Jo Young) Vs. Freaks with Benefits (Krista May Williams & Kayla Taylor)
The fans loved the match up and Taylor started things off with Rouse. Taylor got the upperhand early and it allowed the Freaks to make many tags in and out, using a handful of double team moves. Taylor sent Rouse shoulder first into the corner post and appeared to gain an advantage. Rouse was able to finally tag out and Young was fired up, taking out both freaks. Young hit the Caught Up (Spear) on Taylor and almost had the match won but Williams broke it up. Rouse came back in and the Spectres hit a combo of Young’s Monsterle (Gorilla Press) and Rouse’s Bored Now! (Trouble in Paradise) on Williams. Taylor then pushed Rouse over the top rope and turned to Young and was hit with an uppercut. Taylor tried to battle back but Young sent her into the ropes. Williams mustered up some strength and kicked Young in the back of the knee to drop her to a knee. Taylor came back and hit the Plan A (Shining Wizard) and looked for a pin but Rouse pulled her out of the ring. Taylor grabbed the arm of Rouse and pulled down on it, hurting the same shoulder. Taylor pushed Rouse shoulder first into the steel steps and entered the ring and made a tag to Williams. Young didn’t see the tag and hit Taylor with the Young Gun (AA Spinebuster). Williams snuck up behind Young and locked in the B.T.Y. (Better Than You - Cattle Mutilation) and Young was forced to tap out.
WINNERS: Freaks with Benefits @ 15:13
EW Heavyweight Championship
F.M. Young(c) Vs. Bailey Mayhew
Mayhew and Young circled and started things off slow but the champ quickly showed why she was the champion and took over the match with her power. She backed Mayhew into the corner and started to strike slowly to wear her out. This went on for some time before Mayhew battled back with a hard elbow to the head that seemed to stun Young. Young staggered and hit her Man-Machine Interface (Discus Clothesline) and looked to have things won but Mayhew kicked out. Mayhew found a second wind and hit the champ with Brain Damage (Chris Hero's Death Blow). Mayhew could’ve made a cover but elected to go up to the top rope. She looked for the Not Just Another Frog Splash but Young moved out of the way. Young climbed to her feet as Mayhew was right behind her. Mayhew tried to lock up from behind but took a hard elbow to the side of the head that allowed Young to pull her in and hit a DDT. Young slowly climbed to the top ropes but slipped on the way up. This allowed Mayhew to get up and get to the corner. Mayhew tried to pull Young down with an armdrag but the champ pushed her off. Young came flying off the turnbuckle and hit the Battery Powered Bombshell (Shooting Star Senton) and covered for the win and to retain the championship.
WINNER AND STILL EW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: F.M. Young, via pinfall @ 18:03
Young celebrated in the ring and even offered a quick handshake to Mayhew as Bailey left the ring and we went to black on a shot of Young with the title.
