Finding My Voice
Extreme Champion Chelsea LeClair is in the locker room and she’s in a fine mood, lighter than the mood that she’s been in lately. She seems like she’s concentrating a little better than before and isn’t so hung up on things. She takes a deep breath and begins to speak.
Chelsea LeClair: I am going to start off with a bit of a confession. I have been a little too high strung lately. It would be cliche and untrue to pin it on that embarrassing loss to Harper Blake a while back, and yes, I am STILL hungering to erase that in the ring at some point. But the truth is, what I am talking about started before then. Then of course, things have snowballed for the worse for me since then as some recent post-match crap would indicate.
Sometimes, you just have to step back and let things breathe for a bit and that’s what I’ve had to do recently. It hurts to admit it… but…
When things are going badly for me, I have this obscene, terrible tendency to make it worse. It was a mindset that I developed growing up where every little thing that went wrong was the end of the world. As a teenager growing up with a father that could give fuck all about her and that expected perfection more or less, I’d be grounded for the smallest thing. Now, I don’t want to dive into my personal life too deep here…
But that’s where I come from…
And ever since I found my way in this business and started to find success in my own right, which includes the Extreme Championship that I have now, I’ve made the lows a lot lower than they’ve needed to be at times. It’s debatable as to whether the Harper Blake situation is one of those times but it seems like I manifest that snowball effect…
Chelsea pauses and sighs as she continues her reflection.
Chelsea LeClair: Then my husband recently pulled me aside and told me to stop doing that because it wasn’t going to do me any good… and worse… it wasn’t going to do our twins any good either. I have to be strong for them and I had it warped thinking it was “I have to win everything” when really, it’s not about that… it’s about how I react to adversity and I’ve done a really bad job at that.
That ends tonight. Kayla Taylor is in the way tonight and with some of the stuff I’ve been going through lately with the bad loss and the blindside attacks, this is where I have to really begin to turn it around and learn how to not play the victim card anymore. I’ve proven that I’m stronger than what I’ve shown lately and that’s something that I really need to start displaying and that’s what I am going to do. So Kayla, consider this a message to the rest of the Extreme Division and to anyone else that wants to get in my way.
That ‘victim card’ version of me is in the process of being dead and buried and I will stop at nothing to get better and stronger and give this company exactly the champion that they deserve and to rise up the ladder into the upper tier of this company. So to everyone that wants to get in my way, consider what happens with Kayla as a warning. You don’t get to push me around anymore…
Chelsea maintains her conviction as she makes her exit.
