Superstar History: The early year of the life and career of one Alex Silver are but a blur compared to his recent resurgence on the wrestling scene. Alex grew up the cousin to Michael Curmaci, better known as long time veteran, The Notch, even tagging with his cousin as the team known as Truly Tenacious. While showing glimpses of greatness, usually bottled under some horrible gimmick or arrogance that really didn’t allow his full character to shine, Alex Silver had a career that nearly ended before it all began. Fueled by the fame, fortune, and vices that usually came with it, Silver’s career was in a steady decline, as hard as he tried to hold out hope something would happen to change his fortune.
Finally, after another failed stint in another wrestling company, this time Chaotic Championship Wrestling, as the leader of The Silver String Locals, the man known as Quicksilver, the dancing, gyrating, and showmanship would finally fade away and make room for the no nonsense, no gimmick, charismatic CCW Workhorse known as Alex Silver, and while the crowd wasn’t sure what to make of him yet, and he really could have cared less, fans began to embrace him, as he would go on to capture the CCW United States Title at Destiny over a very game Mark Redgrave, one of the more dominant champions in the company at the time.
Behind the scenes, no one truly knew what the future of the company would be, but as a man who had finally found himself, his niche, and his voice, Alex wasn’t long to sit around and find out.
At the encouragement of friends, as well as his cousin, he arranged a meeting with BWF brass and the Wrestling Workhorse found a new home, capturing the BWF International Title in short order, but Silver wasn’t long for BWF, as CCW once again came calling, and perhaps, against better judgment, Silver returned to sunny Florida, but it wouldn’t be a happy reunion, as despite the company looking to push Silver to the forefront after a feud with Raymond Jackson, behind the scenes, royalty checks and concern over company bankruptcy was enough to send Silver over the edge, getting into several heated arguments with company officials. “All I wanted to do was wrestle,” said Silver in an interview not long after the encounter that would lead an unnamed official to say “Fuck you, Silver Rush”, which led to one of the biggest names in the company at the time to ask for his release.
A phone call from long time friend BJ Jones would be soon to follow, allowing Silver the platform to speak his mind, and of course, a ring to wrestle in.
Grateful for the opportunity, as well as the change to reunite with his cousin, The Wrestling Workhorse was now a proud member of ELW, but it was short lived. Finding his niche in CHAMP Wrestling, Silver would capture the Provincial Championship, holding onto it for a record 221 days before dropping it at Pride And Glory, the final PPV before the reformation of Excelsior Wrestling Society. Attacked by Tyler Zane after the match, Silver would be silent until signing on the dotted line with EW.
The Wrestling Workhorse, at nearly 36 years of age, will continue showing the wrestling world that he is indeed, as real as it gets!
