Episode #11 - February 6, 2019
Scott Parker: Welcome one and all to another edition of Empire Wrestling’s Hype! We come to you from Birmingham, England for the second stop on our overseas tour and it should be a great show for you all tonight.
Gemma Foster: AJ Adams is back in action for the first time since October 31st and what a perfect opponent tonight as he takes on Azurine Vebbins. It was Vebbins and her partner Talia Areano competed in AJ’s last match that night.
Scott Parker: AJ admitted on Twitter this week that he had been dealing with some injuries and after that match he took time off to heal up.
Gemma Foster: Plus we have lots of other action lined up. I wonder if we learn more about this L2N character.
Finally Ascended
Before the opening match is even announced, darkness instantly shrouds the arena in Birmingham, England.
“I defy your defiance
It’s all lies in alliance
I’ve been damaged, left in ruin
‘Cause I’m broke and flawed and
H u m a n. . .”
The fans rise to their feet as “Human” by HELLYEAH plays from the PA system. There’s a mixed reaction as Chelsea Pryce emerges through the curtains in a black lace long sleeve backless sexy dress, the slit along the left side revealing her long leg, and black transparent stockings that reach up to her mid-thighs. As always, she wears her signature black stiletto high heels. Most important of all, she has the Empire Wrestling Heavyweight Championship belt draped over her left shoulder. She also has the East Coast Wrestling Federation Extreme Championship draped over her right shoulder. She carries them both with pride and a smirk on her face.
Scott Parker: Ms. Pryce made a promise that she would be in Birmingham for Hype. She has delivered, and dare I say our Heavyweight Champion looks STUNNING tonight.
Gemma Foster: I think Johnny will let that slide because it’s a friendly compliment. I’m curious as to what Chelsea is going to say.
The Double Champion makes her way down the ramp, just allowing a few fans in the front row to touch her, and she ascends the steel steps. She enters the ring between the bottom and middle ropes, slowly, seductively, then she moves over to request a microphone from an official.
Scott Parker: She’s expressed her interest in the newest addition to Empire Wrestling, “L.2.N.” No full name yet, but she has attacked the former Champion FM Young and put her on medical reserve for four-to-six weeks.
Gemma Foster: It was a cowardly but a smart move. The rematch clause for the Heavyweight Championship is on hold because of the attack. It leaves many to wonder who will be the first to challenge Chelsea for her title?
She doesn’t seem to mind the cheers or the boos. She chuckles softly before she receives the mic, then she moves to stand in the center of the ring. Her theme music slowly fades and she lifts the mic in her left hand.
Chelsea Pryce: A promise is a promise. I’m here, Birmingham.
There’s a pop from the crowd as their hometown is mentioned.
Chelsea Pryce: And I can officially say this… The ten-year war is FINALLY over. I am YOUR new Empire Wrestling Heavyweight Champion!
The camera captures her left side, the side with the Heavyweight Championship, and the fans resume their mixed reactions.
Chelsea Pryce: If you’ve followed my career since the beginning… You’ll know that I made my professional wrestling debut in September 2008 in a Toronto-based company called Epic Wrestling Organization. I was twenty-nine years old. In three months, I became their Commonwealth Champion. I won the 2008 Breakout Star of the Year award. In January of the following year, I was offered my first opportunity to challenge for their top championship, the eWo World Championship. Unfortunately, it ended up being my first failed attempt…
Despite my time in SIN Wrestling, Revival Wrestling, ECWA, and Spirit and Pride Wrestling, I was never given another opportunity at their top championship… The ECWA Hellcats division was a women’s division. Even though I was the last Hellcats Champion of the company, it just wasn’t the same as being a World or Heavyweight Champion. It was sort of an insult to not allow intergender matches. I wanted to compete with the entire roster; the best of the best. I may have found success in lower-tier championships, but still...
There’s a pause, a moment of contemplation before she goes on.
Chelsea Pryce: My second opportunity was the ‘King of the Mountain’ match on Next Level: Ascension here in Empire Wrestling. My third was the one-on-one match against FM Young on Next Level: Turmoil. In both situations, I lost… and I will admit that I felt so low that I thought my career was meaningless. That the war would never end… I wanted to give up.
This draws quiet yet gentle sympathy from some of the fans. Even Chelsea expresses genuine sadness as she says the last words. She takes a moment to just breathe deeply.
Chelsea Pryce: Ten years… what was the possibility of a thirty-nine-year-old woman becoming a Heavyweight Champion? I told myself before I joined Empire Wrestling that this would be the final run in my career. I saw the war blazing in front of me, and when I lost TWO opportunities, I fell… Even when the rematch was presented to me, I didn’t want to take it. ’What’s the point? I’m just going to lose again.’ That’s what I told myself. Yes, it was a weak moment… I’m not afraid to admit when I feel so low, I felt like Death… But Johnny helped me through it. It’s in his mantra. You know the one.
She looks up, raises the mic, and allows the fans to chant: ”Never give up! Never surrender! Never relent!” A weak chuckle escapes her as she presses on.
Chelsea Pryce: I also saw a young man… Adam Sanders… struggling in a time of personal loss. His girlfriend was kidnapped and taken from him, yet he refused to give up on reuniting with his love. So they inspired me, and I rose to take on the fourth opportunity. Despite FM’s refusal and hateful protests, the contracted match was still on. A steel cage where no one can interfere… and regardless of the ending, I won. The bell’s rings were the rings of victory and my personal war was finally over.
Now? I will take on any and every challenger. Daniel Daemon. L2N. Kurt Hullum. Adam Stryker. Even my own boyfriend, Johnny Maverick. Hell, I’ll defend against the entire roster in order to prove that I WILL be the best Empire Wrestling Heavyweight Champion in history. All challengers, new and old, are welcome to face me. Just remember one thing…
There’s always a price to pay.
Dropping the mic, she raises her EW Heavyweight Championship belt in her left hand. The fans actually cheer and applaud for the Stiletto Knife as “Human” by HELLYEAH resonates once more.
Glorious Bastards (Johnny & Ollie Maverick w/ Allen Chaney) Vs. The Purge ( Artemis & Ellen Shrader w/ Lee Francis)
When The Glorious Bastards were first introduced to the ring, they only made it halfway down the ramp before The Purge ambushed them from behind. Artemis attacked Johnny Maverick while Ellen Shrader worked on Ollie Maverick. Even Lea Francis got the jump on Allen Chaney. The ladies were rather brave, their ambush relentless as the referee tried to get them into the ring. After driving him head first onto the steel steps, Ellen rolled Ollie into the ring, and the match was officially underway.
On the outside, Allen caught Lea with a vicious headbutt that knocked her flat onto the floor. He then turned to Artemis, who backed away from him and Johnny, and Johnny scoffed. Both non-legal competitors moved to their respective corners while Lea took a moment to recover and relocate to The Purge’s side. Allen moved to The Glorious Bastards’ corner. Inside the ring, Ellen blasted Ollie with Blast from the Future (Reverse Roundhouse kick) and covered him, but he kicked out at two. She tagged in Artemis, both of them doing their best to isolate Ollie from his brother. Even after the Catching Fire (Double Underhook Facebuster), Ollie still kicked out at two. When Artemis Irish whipped him towards the ropes, Ollie countered with Quick Time Event (Back Handspring Elbow) and knocked Artemis down. Before Ellen could rush in, Ollie dodged her with a Dark Souls Roll and offered the audience a ‘Praise the Sun!’ pose. To Ellen’s surprise, he caught her with a spinning heel kick before he tagged in Johnny.
Johnny took control of the match rather easily, sending Ellen to the outside with OFMF! (Running Palm Strike to the face), then he brought Artemis down to earth with Drain Bramage (Jumping Brainbuster). Before he could go for the pin attempt, Lea jumped onto the apron to distract the referee. While Artemis was recovering, Johnny tried to argue with Lea, but Ellen snuck in from behind and delivered a low blow! The fans booed disapprovingly until Allen maneuvered around, pursuing Lea who was quick to run. The referee yelled at them for order while Ollie rushed in and put Ellen on blast with 360 No-Scope! (Jumping Corkscrew Roundhouse Kick), knocking her out to the outside. As soon as Artemis got to her feet, Johnny had utilized the extra time to recover. The referee turned around, assuming a legal tag had been made, and he looked on. Johnny kicked Artemis in the midsection, lifted her up in a vertical suplex position, and Ollie nailed the back of her head with a roundhouse kick. Johnny completed the vertical suplex, or what is known as “The Bastardplex”, and Ollie hooked Artemis’s leg. The referee counted and the Maverick Brothers received the three count!
Winner: The Glorious Bastards via pinfall @ 10:41
Gemma Foster: Johnny and Ollie have rightfully earned their victory tonight! The Glorious Bastards are triumphant.
Scott Parker: It appears they’ve evened the playing field by recruiting Allen Chaney. Despite Lea Francis trying to manipulate the match for The Purge to double team Johnny, Chaney was there to make sure it didn’t work.
Gemma Foster: With a 360 No Scope from Ollie, mind you. Still, I doubt this battle is over between these two teams!
Gio DeLuca Vs. Derrick Daze
Gio DeLuca: Derrick Daze? Mr Snooze is back and he’s the unlucky one. I asked the high ups for a match and I didn’t care who it was against.
Gio was cut off as Daze started to make his way down the ramp. Gio jumped out of the ring out of fury and charged at Daze. Daze and DeLuca came to blows on the ramp. DeLuca sent Daze hard into the apron back first. Daze lunged forward with a hard headbutt that busted the nose of DeLuca. Daze rolled DeLuca into the ring and climbed in after him. Daze staggered around and quickly put up a fight with left and right hands. DeLuca looked for a jumping DDT but he was pushed away. DeLuca charged back and ran into a forearm to the face. Daze grabbed DeLuca and landed the Collapse Generation (Rainmaker DDT) and covered to pick up the victory.
WINNER: Derrick Daze via pinfall @ 2:34
To Mend | To Destroy
‘The Comedian’ Allen Chaney approaches a dressing room and releases a sigh of slight dread before knocking on the door. Slowly, the camera pans out slightly to reveal the nameplate CHELSEA PRYCE by the door before the doorknob begins to turn. Once the door opens…
Chelsea Pryce: Who is it?
...Chelsea looks up to see Allen and she presses her lips together in a thin line. Her body language is a little tense, perhaps shocked by his appearance.
Chelsea Pryce: ...Allen.
Allen Chaney: Hey… Look, I just wanted to talk. We both know why. It’s something that has to be addressed.
She closes her jade green eyes, takes a deep breath, and lets it out slowly. Opening the door for him, she steps back into her room.
Chelsea Pryce: Come on.
Allen nods and enters, taking a look around the room before looking at Chelsea.
Allen Chaney: I’ll make it quick. I don’t want this to be weird. You’re with Johnny now and that’s great. I’m happy for both of you. Johnny is a great dude. Like a brother to me. He and Ollie made the call to me, and I agreed to join because they called me when no one else did. So...there.
The camera peers around the room, taking note of the EW Heavyweight Championship belt and the ECWF Extreme Championship belt laid over the coffee table. They’re parallel to one another, signifying their equal importance to Chelsea. She’s taken a seat on the couch before them, looking up at Allen as he explains himself. The Stiletto Knife is very observant. She can see how uneasy this makes him beyond the surface. The stoic front doesn’t repel her.
Chelsea Pryce: ...I know there’s more you want to say. Things that you can’t with the world watching.
She eyes the camera for a brief moment. Her left leg crosses over the other, the slit of her dress revealing her silky smooth skin. Before she can continue, Allen speaks up.
Allen Chaney: Not really. There’s not much I’m afraid of saying on camera. I took an upper-decker in the Freaks With Benefits dressing room bathroom at the last show. Don’t google it.
Chelsea Pryce: ...I don’t even want to know.
She shakes her head slowly. There’s still a sadness in her eyes.
Chelsea Pryce: If you believe there’s nothing more to say… Then I guess that’s fine. It’s your decision. I can’t force you to say anything.
Allen sighs.
Allen Chaney: What do you want me to say, Chelsea? From what I remember...things didn’t end badly between us. They just kinda...ended. I’d like it if we could be professional...but I’d REALLY like it if we could be friends. For Ollie and Johnny. And the Trash Panda.
He’s referring to Rocket. Chelsea sighs softly and leans back against the cushions of the couch. She almost looks like she wants to disappear. A situation like this is not one she’s familiar with.
Chelsea Pryce: ...Alright. We’ll start slow, but… I think we can be friends.
There’s a sincere look in her eyes as she makes eye contact with him.
Allen Chaney: I’d like that, Chelsea. Really.
Allen nods and turns to face the door. He stops and turns to her once more.
Allen Chaney: ...An upper decker is when you open the toilet tank and do a number two in it so every time they flush the water that comes out is poo water. That’s what I’m going to do at every show to the Freaks with Benefits toilet. Just didn’t wanna leave that hanging for you to google and accidentally see a gross picture. Uh...later.
Allen waves goodbye and leaves. Visibly, Chelsea facepalms.
Chelsea Pryce: I just said… God dammit, Allen.
Drawing her left hand away from her face, she looks at both of her championship belts before she uncrosses her legs. Chelsea rises to her feet and walks towards the door Allen forgot to close behind him. She raises her left hand out towards the doorknob… When suddenly a powerful hand wraps around her throat through the opening in the door. Another hand opens the door the rest of the way.
Daniel Daemon: Paying the price is a concept that’s unfamiliar to me, Chelsea… I'm more of a ‘The Devil will have his due’ sort of fellow.
Try as she might, Chelsea can’t break away. Even her hands clutching his wrist can’t force him to release her. Daniel pushes her forward by her throat toward the coffee table that her title belts rest on. He lifts her high by her throat and chokeslams her through that table, snapping it in half. The impact takes Chelsea’s breath away in an instant and she loses consciousness. Afterward, Daniel takes a deep breath and runs a hand through his dark hair to fix it slightly. He leans down and places his hand on...The EW Heavyweight Championship. He caresses it slightly before leaving the dressing room, the camera then focused on the Champion’s prone form.
Gemma Foster: Someone get some EMTs to the locker room!
Talia Areano Vs. Bailey Mayhew
The match started with both competitors tying up in the center of the ring. Talia turned it into an Irish Whip and tossed Bailey into the ropes. Bailey returned and Talia attempted an arm drag but Bailey flipped through and landed on her feet before attempting a spinning heel kick but Talia caught her foot and attempted an enzuiguri which Bailey ducked under. Bailey waited for Talia to stand and attempted a hurricanrana but Talia flipped through. Talia turned around and attempted a rana of her own but Bailey flipped through as well. They both faced each other and the audience applauded the display from the Lucha-proficient ladies.
The two tied up once more but this time Bailey brought Talia down with a snapmare followed by a vicious dropkick to the head. Bailey went in for a cover but only got a one. Talia rose to her feet and Bailey set her up for a DDT but Bailey countered by locking her arms around Bailey’s waist and dropping her with a Northern Lights Suplex she bridged for a pin attempt but also only got one.
Both competitors traded strikes and throws but neither of them really seemed to be gaining much ground against the other until Bailey managed to hit a Kneed You Tonight (Springboard Knee Strike) that levels Talia. Bailey tried to take advantage and went to the top rope and attempted Not Just Another Frog Splash but Talia rolled out of the way and Bailey took the full impact on the mat. Talia quickly rolled Bailey up for a pin. Talia managed to score a surprise 3 count!
Winner: Talia Areano via pinfall @ 12:03
Scott Parker: Wow, what a close match between Talia and Bailey! Tonight, Ms. Areano scores the victory.
Gemma Foster: I have a feeling Mayhew won’t be too thrilled about this, but the show must go on. Hype continues!
Contract on a Pole Match
Cliff Maxwell Vs. Edward Evans Vs. Izumi Sato
Maxwell, Evans, and Sato were all in the ring looking up at the contract that was on a pole in one of the corners. Before the bell sounded a remixed version of “What’s Up Danger” by Blackway and Black Caviar, the theme from Next Level: Turmoil, and L.2.N. walked out onto the stage. She smirked at the top of the ramp and looked down at the ring. She took off her leather jacket and tossed it aside as she charged to the ring. She entered and the four started to battle.
Scott Parker: L2N getting involved in this match!
The action was fast and included a lot of strikes. Evans hit Maxwell with a big superkick before hitting a superman punch. This allowed Evans to take Maxwell down with his Diver (Unprettier). Evans scrambled towards the corner and started to climb to the top but Sato pulled him down. She turned him around and started to hit massive chops. L2N came over and hit Sato with a German suplex and rolled to her feet. L2N got to her feet and had to duck an incoming superkick from Evans. Sato was up and came flying with the Bullet Rush (Spear) onto Evans. Sato rolled to her feet and walked into an Eat Defeat by L2N. L2N was able to jump to the top ropes and jump up, grabbing the contract to end the match.
WINNER: L.2.N.
Gemma Foster: Wait. So does this mean that L2N now is under contract?
Scott Parker: Look at that grin she has.
She holds the contract above her head and then heads to the back.
Azurine Vebbins Vs. AJ Adams
It was time for the main event as Vebbins made her way down to a nice cheer from the crowd. She was excited and energetic as she rolled into the ring. Vebbins waited for Adams who got a loud pop from the crowd as he came out in his gear. Adams took a knee at the top of the ramp before making his way down and into the ring. Adams and Vebbins quickly shook hands before the bell sounded and the match got underway. Adams and Vebbins locked up and Adams quickly pulled her into a side headlock. Vebbins pushed Adams away and he hit the ropes and she caught him with a shoulder block. Adams rolled to his feet and Vebbins locked in a headlock of her own and flowed into a sleeper. Adams was able to counter into a belly to back suplex.
Gemma Foster: Matching move for move to start things off here!
The two went toe to toe and blow for blow as they got to their feet. Adams blocked a jumping knee strike from Vebbins and then caught her with a kick to the midsection and then a DDT. Adams pulled Vebbins to her feet and sent her into the corner. He went to charge but Vebbins caught him with a boot to the face. Vebbins took Adams down with a running bulldog and then popped up to her feet. Adams rolled up and Vebbins looked for a headscissors takedown but Adams turned it into a sit-down powerbomb. Adams quickly pulled Vebbins up to her feet and he lifted her into a suplex. He rolled her up and hit a second suplex. Adams swung his leg and rolled up and hit a third suplex to finish the trifecta. Adams stalked Vebbins as she was slow to her feet. He looked for the Last Call (Codebreaker) but she held onto the top ropes to block the move. Adams rolled to his feet and Vebbins hit him with two knees to the sternum. She stepped back and blasted Adams with a superkick. She then pulled Adams in for a DDT but he spun away. He jumped up and connected with the Last Call. Vebbins staggered to her feet and Adams pulled her into position and delivered the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail) and covered to pick up the win.
WINNER: AJ Adams via pinfall @ 16:22
Adams rolled to his knees and looked over to Vebbins and nodded his head. He went to walk over to her when L2N’s music hit and she walked out onto the stage. She had the EW contract in hand and signed it. She charged to the ring and exchanged lefts and rights with Adams before tossing him out of the ring. He fell to the outside as Vebbins looked for a superkick on L2N. L2N caught her foot before spinning her around and delivered the Eat Defeat.
Gemma Foster: L2N once again getting involved!
Adams slid back into the ring and L2N rolled under the ropes and made her way up the ramp as Adams checked on Vebbins to close the show.
