Episode #12 - February 20, 2019
Scott Parker: Hello one and all and welcome to the Hype number 12! We have some great action tonight as our main event will feature the Primetime Championship as Josh Goldstein defends against the former champion, Casey Grey.
Gemma Foster: Casey is gunning for her championship and you know that she’s going to give it all she has.
Scott Parker: Also in action we’ll see our Heavyweight Champion Chelsea Pryce, AJ Adams, Derrick Daze, and many more. Let’s get right into it!
Freaks with Benefits (Kayla Taylor and Krista May Williams) Vs. Paradise Tango (Talia Areano Vs. Azurine Vebbins)
Krista and Talia each started for their respective teams and locked up in the center of the ring, Krista seemingly trying to dictate the pace of the match early on by trying to keep it slow as to not play to the strengths of Talia. Krista was no slouch jersey in the speed department but she seemed to be methodically keeping Talia from gaining any traction and keeping her grounded. Krista dropped Talia with a pretty devastating looking facebuster and posed for the audience, indulging in their boos until Talia was able to use a kip-up Hurricanrana That got the crowd pumped and was able to make the hot tag to Azurine who came in with a few running elbows that got the crowd fired up until Krista managed to rake Azzy’s eyes which got a warning from the ref before Krista dropped Azurine with the Last Breath (Swinging Inverted DDT) And covered her for a 2 count.
Krista seemed to be setting Azurine up for a Suplex of some kind but Azurine gripped around Kayla’s waist and countered the move into a bridging northern lights suplex that nabbed her a two count. Close to her corner, Krista was able to quickly reach out and make a tag to her partner who came in off the tag and quickly ceased all of Azurine’s momentum with an elbow strike to her face followed by a scoop slam.
Azurine was whipped in the corner by Kayla, and Talia gave her partner a light tap on the back before Kayla whipped Azurine out of the corner by her hair. The referee didn’t seem to see the tag between Talia and Azurine, and while the ref argued with Talia to stay in her corner, Kayla locked Azurine up from behind and hit her with the Broadway Lights (Cross Rhodes) and went for the cover. The ref drops to make the count and it seemed like Talia was in perfect position to break up the pin until Krista reached under the ropes and grabbed her ankles and pulled her out of the ring for Kayla to get the three count and the win.
Winner: Freaks With Benefits via pinfall @ 10:39
Scott Parker: Krista May Williams with the ring knowledge to hold onto the ankles of Talia as she went to break out the pinfall!
Gemma Foster: Paradise Tango must feel robbed!
Scott Parker: That’s why the Freaks are the champs. The question is who will step up to them and try and take the titles?
Strike a Pose
The Jew Blazer stands backstage with his Primetime title over his shoulder and his cape and hair blowing dramatically in the wind. The camera pans out to reveal he is standing in front of a large electric fan that is aiding in creating his dramatic superhero pose.
“...Really?”
From off-screen, the Stiletto Knife steps into the camera’s view, her eyes on Josh Goldstein while he practices windy superhero poses. Her Empire Heavyweight Championship is over her left shoulder while her ECWF Extreme Championship is over her right.
Chelsea Pryce: So this is where my son is getting it from.
Jew Blazer: Don’t knock it, this is how I pump myself up for a match. It makes you feel SUPERHEROIC.
The fan shuts off as someone unplugs it to plug in their phone charger, and Josh sighs. Chelsea can’t help but laugh.
Jew Blazer: Well...so much for that. What’s up, Chels?
She shakes her head a little and places her left hand on her hip.
Chelsea Pryce: I’ve noticed that being the champion is harder than being the challenger. There’s more pressure on your shoulders and everyone’s crosshairs are on you. Are you ready for your first-ever defense of the Primetime Championship?
Jew Blazer: You know it! I enjoy being in the crosshairs. That pressure makes me feel alive and now I can build my superheroic legacy by defending against the best the company has to offer!
The Blazer poses heroically but stops and sighs.
Jew Blazer: ...Imagine how much cooler that would have been with the fan going.
Chelsea Pryce: Heh. You’re one of a kind, Josh.
She is satisfied with his answer, though. A smile crosses her face as she moves to sit up on a large crate, crossing her long legs one over the other.
Chelsea Pryce: The thrill is my favorite part. Taking on any and every challenger that comes my way… making them pay the price. Whether it’s here in Empire or ECWF, I’m ready to face the world.
The Stiletto Knife does recall the events of Birmingham, England. She shakes her head and sighs.
Chelsea Pryce: ...We need eyes everywhere. The Devil of Empire, that L.2.N. woman, Freaks With Benefits, AJ Adams… and that’s just here.
Jew Blazer: Well...doesn’t your boyfriend actually HAVE eyes everywhere? I, for one, remember the days of spying on folks in the hoodie and mask. Maybe you should ask him about that. Anywho. They’ll be playing my song soon. I should get ready fo-
The fan gets plugged back in and Josh is caught off guard. His cape is blown in his face and he falls over.
Jew Blazer: I’m fine! No one help me up! It’ll just be more embarrassing!
He stands and shakes it off. She simply stares for a brief moment, blankly, before she chuckles softly.
Chelsea Pryce: You never cease to amaze me. Good luck, kiddo. Let’s be the best champions this company has seen.
Jew Blazer: Heck yeah! Let's go kick all of the tuches!
The Blazer holds his hand up to offer Chelsea a high five. For someone who’s usually reserved, it’s a pleasant surprise when she actually high fives Josh. She feels her blonde hair dancing with the wind from the fan and watches the Jew Blazer depart. Her jade green eyes look up at the camera from where she’s seated.
Chelsea Pryce: You can go now. I want to try something.
Stepping down from the crate, she moves closer to the fan… and begins to pose with her championships like the supermodel she is. The scene fades to black.
The Purge (Ellen Shrader & Artemis) Vs. Glory Daze (Lacey Gloria & Derrick Daze)
The match started with Artemis and Derrick kicking things off. Artemis took control pretty early with a lot of hard strikes and a particularly well executed Exploder Suplex. Apparently sick of being used as a punching bag, Derrick made it to the corner and tagged in Lacey.
Lacey seemed to be able to match the intensity of Artemis and fired back with strikes of her own, the two of them engaging ima vicious battle of chops that ended with Lacey catching a chop, hip-tossing Artemis, and kicking her hard in the spine. Despite Lacey trying to keep her away from her corner, Artemis made the tag to Ellen.
Ellen came out of her corner with a spear that seemed to hit Lacey hard and Ellen took advantage of the momentum shift but it all came crashing down when Lacey managed to nail Ellen with a jumping single-knee armbreaker.
Soon, Lacey held Ellen in a standing arm wrench and tagged in Derrick who upon being tagged sprung off of the ropes in his corner onto the waiting arm of Ellen using the Dissection (Springboard Stomp onto a targeted limb). The audience released a collective groan at the pure brutality unleashed on Ellen’s arm. Upon releasing the arm of Ellen, Lacey rushed Artemis in her corner and knocked her off the apron, quickly climbing out of the ring to continue the attack, also tangling with Lea Francis to keep them both occupied.
The chaos allows Daze to use the ‘Sickness Complete’ (Flying Omoplata) and with all the focus Glory Daze had on her arm, Derrick managed to make her tap.
Winner: Glory Daze via tapout @ 13:12
Gemma Foster: Well, Glory Daze win this tag match fair and square, it seems.
Scott Parker: You don’t sound too enthusiastic about that, Gemma.
Gemma Foster: I’m just a little letdown. I was rooting for the ladies of The Purge.
Scott Parker: Of course you were… Congratulations to Derrick and Lacey on their well-fought victory!
AJ Adams Vs. Bailey Mayhew
The fans were buzzing for the arrival of AJ Adams. He played up the crowd a lot as he made his way down to face Mayhew who was waiting for him to enter the ring. The two locked up as the bell sounded and Mayhew caught Adams with a few quick right hands before taking him down to the mat with an arm drag, locking in a standing armbar. Adams slowly worked his way up to his feet and clocked her with a big forearm to the face. Mayhew was staggered and Adams took the opening to connect with a scoop slam. Mayhew popped up to her feet and Adams took her right back down with a big spinning spinebuster. Adams pulled Mayhew to her feet and sent her into the corner and followed it up and a big corner splash. He looked for a running bulldog but Mayhew countered into a reverse DDT. Both competitors got to their feet and Adams had to duck an incoming spinning heel kick but Mayhew planted her feet and hit him with a pele kick. Adams was daze and it opened him up for Mayhew’s Kneed You Tonight (Springboard Knee Strike). He dropped to a knee after the blow and Mayhew set up for the Into the Sunset (Asai DDT). She started to flip back but Adams countered into a wheelbarrow facebuster.
Scott Parker: A fantastic counter by AJ Adams. It looks like he has Bailey right where he wants her.
Adams started to stalk around Mayhew and finally pulled her up to her feet before hitting a perfect Last Call (Codebreaker). Adams rolled into a cover but Mayhew got her foot on the bottom ropes just in time. Adams sat up and seemed impressed as he started to pull her up. Mayhew surprised him with a small package pin and got two as he was able to just kick out of it. Adams got to his feet and Mayhew rocked him with Brain Damage (Chris Hero's Death Blow). She scurried over to the corner and was able to slowly pull herself to the top ropes but slipped on her way up. Mayhew steadied herself and dove for her Not Just Another Frog Splash and Adams rolled out of the way. Adams got to his feet as Mayhew held her stomach. The crowd started to buzz as someone entered the ring behind Adams. He turned and L2N was there and cracked his jaw with a big superkick! The referee saw the action and called for the bell.
WINNER: AJ Adams @ 16:10 via DQ
L2N stood over Adams as the fans booed. She turned her attention to Mayhew who was starting to stand. L2N took her down with the Headline (Eat Defeat). L2N smiled and rolled out of the ring and made her way up the ramp.
Gemma Foster: Damn it, Scott! L2N once again causing a stir as she takes out both AJ Adams and Bailey Mayhew and we’re still not any closer to knowing just who she is. First Chelsea Pryce and FM Young and now AJ and Bailey. What is it she’s after?
Chelsea Pryce Vs. Alicia Monroe
Pryce was in the gorilla position waiting for her match as L2N came through the curtain from the ring and all hell broke loose. The EW Heavyweight Champion quickly came to blows with L2N and trainers quickly started to pull them apart. Pryce held up her championship and L2N just laughed as she was hauled away.
Scott Parker: Mayhem!
Things finally calmed down as we were finally set for the match. Monroe tried to catch Pryce off guard as she was distracted from the action moments earlier and rolled her up with a small package but just got two. Monroe snuck behind Pryce with a school boy roll up and got a little over over as Pryce kicked out. Both got to their feet and Monroe connected with a step up enziguri. Monroe rushed to the corner and jumped to the top ropes. She was going to try for the Phoenix Dive (Swanton Bomb) but Pryce rolled out of the ring. Monroe jumped down to the apron and waited. Pryce turned to face Monroe and Monroe hit a crossbody on the outside off the apron!
Gemma Foster: Pryce’s head isn’t in the game right now with what happened backstage.
Monroe rolled the champion into the ring and followed. Monroe went to pull Pryce up but took a kick to the face. Pryce got to her feet and hit Monroe with a forearm smash to the face before grabbing her from behind and hit a German suplex. Pryce rolled to her feet and Monroe was close behind. Pryce sent Monroe into the ropes and hit her with a back drop on the return. Monroe fought to her feet as Pryce tried to pull her up and caught the champ with a few right hands. Pryce grabbed Monroe from behind and locked in the Black Out (Rear Naked Choke) but Monroe tried to quickly fight out. She started to struggle free and Pryce dropped her with the Vengeful Bitch (Cobra Clutch Slam) and then quickly followed with a jumping leg drop. Pryce rolled down and locked in the Natural Disaster (Cross Legged STF) and forced Monroe to tap.
WINNER: Chelsea Pryce via submission @ 12:44
Scott Parker: Pryce had a rocky start but showed why she’s the current champion here in Empire Wrestling.
Primetime Championship
Casey Grey Vs. Josh Goldstein (c)
It was main event time as Grey was in the ring and was trying to hype herself up as she paced around the ring. Goldstein came to the ring with the championship around his waist. The two met in the center of the ring as the title was held up and the match announced. They backed into corner and as the bell sounded they both came out swinging. Goldstein struck first with a jumping forearm to the face but it was clear how Grey wanted to play things as she took out the knee of Goldstein as soon as he landed. She hit him with a dropkick to the knee and quickly went to work with hard stomps. With Goldstein grounded it allowed Grey to now focus on the arm. She went for the left one and dropped a knee right on the elbow. Goldstein seemed to be in pain as he started to roll away but Grey grabbed him. She put his arm between her knees and dropped down to the mat.
Gemma Foster: Casey Grey is taking it to the champ.
She quickly grabbed his arm and smashed it against the mat. He was finally away to roll away and the referee checked on him. Goldstein said he was okay to continue and he got to his feet in the corner. Grey charged and ran into an empty post as Goldstein dodged and slipped to the apron. He caught Grey with a step up enziguri and she staggered to the center of the ring. Goldstein hit a springboard tornado DDT to take down Grey. Goldstein rolled into a cover and got a two count. Goldstein started to pull Grey up to her feet but was kicked away. Grey got to her feet and speared Goldstein into the corner. Grey lifted Goldstein to the top ropes. Goldstein kicked Grey and grabbed her by the hand. He walked across the ropes and jumped down and flipped over Grey with an arm drag. They both got to their feet and Grey hit a charging Goldstein with the Breath Mint (Forearm Smash). She covered and only got two. She rolled over to his arm and went back to work before locking in the Torque Wrench (Kneeling Fujiwara Armbar)! Goldstein screamed in pain but refused to quit. He reached for the ropes but couldn’t make it.
Scott Parker: I think Grey has it!
Grey applied more pressure but Goldstein refused to quit and she floated into the Bitch Muzzle (Crossface)! Goldstein struggled and still couldn’t make the ropes. He was able to get his knee under his stomach and started to get to his feet, forcing Grey to let go. She took him down with a running knee strike to the head and fell into a cover and got two!
Gemma Foster: Grey looks frustrated.
Grey looked to the top ropes and started to make her climb.
Scott Parker: Casey is heading to the top ropes. Not something we see her do often!
Her legs wobbled as she tried to get her balance. The opening allowed Goldstein to dive to the ropes, causing Grey to fall off and to the mat below. Grey staggered to her feet and turned right into the Chutzpah Boot (Running Bicycle Kick)! Goldstein covered and got the three count!
WINNER AND STILL EW PRIMETIME CHAMPION: Josh Goldstein via pinfall @ 22:31
Goldstein celebrated as he was handed his championship and clutched his arm at the same time. Grey started to come to and looked dejected in the corner of the ring.
Gemma Foster: What a match!
Goldstein rolled out of the ring and we were left with a shot of him at the top of the ramp with the title, and Grey over his shoulder in the ring still sitting after the loss.
Gemma Foster: Casey is gunning for her championship and you know that she’s going to give it all she has.
Scott Parker: Also in action we’ll see our Heavyweight Champion Chelsea Pryce, AJ Adams, Derrick Daze, and many more. Let’s get right into it!
