Episode #17 - May 24, 2019
Scott Parker: Welcome to a special night of Hype. It’s a Friday night in NYC and there’s a lot of buzz for tonight’s action as we’ll see the EW Heavyweight Champion in action. Daniel Daemon steps into the ring to take on Zoey Mathews-Mitchell.
Gemma Foster: We’re also seeing Fenryr Wulfsson and Karli Frost of the team Ragnarok making their EW debut in a huge 8 person tag match, the first one ever in Empire Wrestling! I’m also hearing some stirs backstage about some sort of huge announcement being made for Next Level: Victorem.
Scott Parker: We do have a little bit of bad news to kick things off however. Due to a travel issue, our scheduled main event of Josh Goldstein defending the Primetime Championship against Talia Areano has been moved to Hype 18 on June the 5th.
Gemma Foster: That’s a shame but now those two get that much more time to prepare for what’s sure to be a great match. Let’s get into the action and see how the night unfolds.
Austin Scott Vs. Lio Walsh
Walsh was come off a hard fought loss against Allen Chaney and a small clip played of Walsh attacking Chaney after that match. Walsh clearly meant business as he arrived to the ring tonight and waited for Scott to come down. Scott came down to the ring and was hit with a baseball slide as he walked around the ring. Walsh jumped out of the ring and the match was underway. We had Extreme Division rules for the match and Walsh smashed Scott off the steel steps and rolled him into the ring. Scott started to get to his feet and was dropped quickly with a snap DDT.
Scott Parker: Austin Scott can’t get out of the gate here as Lio Walsh is right on him from the get go.
Walsh covered and only got a one count as Scott kicked out. Scott started to fight his way to his feet but was sent into the ropes and taken down with a Samoan drop. Walsh into the cover again and just barely two. Walsh kept this up for some time as he had the match under control. He eventually send Scott into the corner and lifted him to the top ropes. Walsh wanted a superplex but Scott fought free. Scott hit Walsh with a hard elbow to the side of the head and Walsh hit the mat. Scott came flying off with an elbow drop. Scott lifted Walsh to his feet and dumped him over the top ropes. Scott went out the opposite side of the ring and went right under the ring and found a table. He slid it into the ring and set it up as Walsh started to get back into the ring. Scott drove his knee into the gut of Walsh and looked for the Booze Cruisin' (Oklahoma Slam) but Walsh slipped free behind Scott. Scott turned around and was hit with the Made of Nightmares (Rock Bottom) right through the table! Walsh covered and Scott kicked out just before three.
Gemma Foster: Lio Walsh can’t believe it and neither can I.
Walsh rolled out of the ring and grabbed a chair and went back into the ring. He moved the rubble away from Scott as he slowly got up. Walsh looked for a chairshot but Scott ducked it. Scott rocked Walsh with the Straight Whiskey (Running lariat) and dove into a cover but only for two. The fans were loving the match and both men slowly got to their feet. Scott looked for a suplex but Walsh swung himself down and landed on his feet. He grabbed Scott and hit the Reign Over (Dirty Deeds) onto the chair! He covered Scott and picked up the win.
WINNER: Lio Walsh via pinfall @ 14:18
Walsh raised his hand and climbed to his feet. He stood over Scott before rolling out of the ring and left up the ramp.
8 Person Tag Match
Glorious Bastards (Johnny & Ollie Maverick) & Hell’s Belles (Casey Grey & Alicia Monroe) Vs. Freaks with Benefits (Kayla Taylor & Kristia May Williams) & Ragnarok (Fenryr Wulffson & Karli Frost)
8 competitors and each team had tension towards the other as there were a laundry lists of reasons to hate each other. The Bastards and Belles were ready to attack the Freaks and Ragnarok before the bell even sounded. The referee stood between both teams and tried to get order right away. The match looked like it was going to start with Ollie and Taylor. The other six competitors climbed to the apron but quickly all jumped down and and met on the outside of the ring and a brawl started. Taylor caught Ollie with a spinning back kick to the gut and then a DDT.
Scott Parker: This match is already out of control.
The duos of Ragnarok and Hell’s Belles were exchanging blows and were starting to spill into the crowd. Johnny tossed Williams over the announcer’s table and rolled into the ring. Taylor turned and was hit with the OFMF (Running Palm Strike) from Johnny. Taylor staggered around the ring before the Bastards hit the Third Eye Massacre (Flapjack by Ollie into a single knee Facebreaker from Johnny). Ollie went into a cover but was pulled out of the ring by Frost! Johnny went after her and chased her around the ring but was leveled with a stiff clothesline from Fenryr as he turned the corner.
Gemma Foster: Like running into a brick wall!
Taylor crawled to her corner and tried to tag in Frost but Grey was there to pull Frost off the apron. The two started to brawl up the ramp as Monroe and Fenryr came chasing after them. Williams was in the corner waiting for the hot tag but Taylor was grabbed by her foot by Ollie. Williams jumped into the ring and was hit with Ollie’s 360 No-Scope! (Jumping corkscrew roundhouse kick).
Taylor was up and caught Ollie with her Broadway Lights (Cross Rhodes). She covered and hooked both legs but Johnny was there to break it up at two.
Scott Parker: The Tag Team Champs almost stole another one from the Bastards.
Johnny grabbed Taylor and hit her with the Drain Bramage (Jumping Brainbuster). Ollie rolled into a cover and picked up the victory.
WINNERS: Glorious Bastards and Hell’s Belles via pinfall @ 5:01
Scott Parker: Johnny and Ollie have scored a pinfall over the champs. You know they want a rematch for those titles.
Gemma Foster: And this feud with Ragnarok and Hell’s Belles is just getting started!
Daniel Daemon Vs. Zoey Mathews-Mitchell
Mathews-Mitchell came to the ring first and stretched in the ring. The crowd’s demeanor changed quickly as the EW Heavyweight Champion Daniel Daemon walked out onto the stage. He had the cracked belt on his shoulder as he showed it off to the booing fans.
Scott Parker: The fans showing the champion how much they don’t care for him.
Gemma Foster: I don’t think he cares much for them either. He calls this HIS Empire and it’s going to be hard for anyone to take it away from him.
Daemon was in the ring and handed off his prize to the referee as the match was set to start. Mathews-Mitchell came charging at the bell to try and catch Daemon off guard. She landed a few hard strikes before Daemon pushed her away and into the corner. He charged and she was able to dodge and Daemon hit the corner hard. Mathews-Mitchell had rolled under the ropes to the apron and looked for a sunset flip rollup but Daemon reached down and grabbed her by her hair and lifted her to her feet. Daemon delivered a chokeslam in the center of the ring
Gemma Foster: Just like that Daemon is in control of the match.
Mathews-Mitchell got to her feet and strung together a series of moves. A jawbreaker, a spinning back elbow, and then a step up enziguri. This staggered Daemon and allowed her to clothesline him over the top ropes. Daemon landed on his feet and he pulled her out of the ring. He looked for a clothesline but she ducked it and hit him with a dropkick to the back that sent him into the outside ringpost. Mathews-Mitchell was able to slowly get him back to his feet and rolled him into the ring. She climbed to the apron and looked for the Starlight (Springboard Shooting Star Press) but Daemon rolled out of the way. Both competitors were to their feet and Daemon dropped her with a big boot. He lifted her with one hand and then connected with the Twist of Cain (Jumping spinning tombstone piledriver). Daemon dropped into a cover and picked up the pinfall.
WINNER: Daniel Daemon via pinfall @ 6:36
Daemon was handed his championship and he walked over Mathews-Mitchell and left the ring.

We had an Extreme Division match next and Scott Parker and Gemma Foster put over Hirano needing a big win here. Lacy Nelson made her entrance to the ring and tossed her leather jacket. The two locked up to start and Hirano opened things up with quick strikes with his legs. Hirano spun around Nelson and rolled her up with a school boy pin but she rolled right through and caught him with a superkick. She pulled Hirano to his feet and dropped him with a snap DDT.
Gemma Foster: Lacy Nelson is lethal with those superkicks.
Nelson rolled out of the ring and grabbed a chair. She slid back in as Hirano started to get to his feet and she tossed the chair at him and he caught it. She looked for a superkick but he swung the chair and hit her in the leg!
Scott Parker: And Kaito just tried to take out that leg!
Nelson rolled into the corner holding her leg in pain as Hirano approached. He stomped on her leg and pulled her into the middle of the ring using it. He looked for a figure four leg lock and had it locked it. Nelson reached over and was able to grab the chair in the ring. She swung it forward and connected with a shot to the head of Hirano. He was stunned as she was able to wiggle free from the hold and get to her feet. She rubbed her leg as he slowly got up. Nelson pulled down her knee pad and readied herself.
