Episode #19 - June 26, 2019
Scott Parker: Welcome everyone to episode 19 of Hype! We’re just a week away from Next Level: Victorem and tonight we have an action packed show. From #1 contender matches, a steel cage for a championship, and a big main event pitting two former World Champions one on one, we should be in for a treat.
The camera panned to the ring as “Pomp and Circumstance” began to play. We could see a pedestal with something under a cloth.
Gemma Foster: It’s time for the presentation of the new championship belt for Daniel Daemon, after he cracked the current Heavyweight Championship in his win over Chelsea Pryce.
The Emperor’s New Prize
The fans started to boo as “Year Zero” by Ghost kicked up and out walked Daniel Daemon, dressed in his finest suit, and a smirk on his face. He slowly made his way to the ring as confetti started to fall from the sky. This made Daemon chuckle and clap with approval. He climbed into the ring and looked over at the hidden belt.
Ring Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen. Please welcome the EW WORLD CHAMPION, Daniel…. DAEEEEEEMONNNNN!
Daemon lifts the cloth to reveal EW’s new World Championship.
Gemma Foster: What a beaut. With Empire Wrestling’s tour overseas the championship is now a World Championship.
Daemon has the title lifted over his head and then put it on his shoulder.
Daemon Daniel: There are many who believe they can take this championship away from me. Many will try. All will fail. All hail the Emperor of Empire Wrestling!
He celebrates around the ring before we cut away.
#1 Contendership to the Extreme Championship
Lio Walsh Vs. Austin Scott
This was a hard striking encounter that saw both men brutally landing blows. Scott brought a chair into the ring and tried to end things early with a ddt onto the chair. Walsh was able to battle back slowly and hit a Russian leg sweep that sent Scott head first into the middle turnbuckle. Walsh took control of the match and started to work over the neck of Scott with rest holds and sleeper hold submissions. Walsh went for his Made of Nightmares (Rock Bottom) but Scott was able to battle out with elbows to the head. Scott hit the Booze Cruisin' (Oklahoma Slam) but couldn’t get a three count. The fight turned outside. Walsh and Scott started to fight on top of the announcers table. Scott looked for a German suplex but Walsh battled out. Scott turned around and was hit with the Made of Nightmares. Both men were down on the outside with an arm draped across each other and the referee counted a pinfall on both!
WINNER: DRAW @ 10:11
Scott Parker: It looks like both Lio and Austin will both be added to the Extreme Championship match next week!
Gauntlet Match
If Zoey Mathews-Mitchell wins, she’ll face Daniel Daemon at Next Level: Victorem
Mathews-Mitchell made her way to the ring and was ready to fight. Her first opponent was Kaito Hirano. Hirano put up a good fight but Mathews-Mitchell wanted to end it early with lots of roll ups. Hirano tried for a death valley driver but Mathews-Mitchell countered into a sunset flip. Hirano tried to get out but he couldn’t get his shoulders up for the three.
Next up Mathews-Mitchell would face Karli Frost. Frost quickly made her way down to the ring as she was being chased by Casey Grey. Frost slid into the ring and ran right into a clothesline from Zo. Zo locked Frost into the Queen of Pain (Haas of Pain) and she tapped out.
Zo composed herself as Grey chased off Frost.
Scott Parker: Two down and one to go!
Zo was ready as Gio DeLuca came out to the ring. He got into the ring and went to cut a promo but Mathews-Mitchell hit the Firebomb (Fireman's Carry Powerbomb) and covered for three!
WINNER: Zoey Mathews-Mitchell
Gemma Foster: Zo has her title shot!
Daemon hit the ring behind her in surprise and clubbed her with a clothesline. He lifted her by her throat off the mat and tossed her into the corner. He took off his jacket and tossed it at her and hit a big corner splash. He grabbed the EW World Championship and held it high.
Scott Parker: Zoey is going to have her hands full next week.
Daemon walked over Zoey and dangled the championship in her face.
Gemma Foster: He’s taunting Zo with the championship.
Daemon leaned out of the ropes and shouted some instructions and ended with a big “do it” that echoed throughout the Warehouse. The steel cage for the next match started to lower as he started to loosen his tie and roll up his sleeves.
Scott Parker: The champion barking orders!
The cage lowered and Daemon grabbed Zo. He tossed her into the side and she bounced off and to the mat between the ropes and the cage. Daemon charged, looking to squish Zo, but she sidestepped him and Daemon went face first into the steel. She was back into the middle of the ring and sized up the champion.
Gemma Foster: Zoey is fighting back!
Zo looked for her Faceplant (Famouser) but Daemon turned it into a powerbomb. Referees entered the cage to try and made a barrier between the champion and Zoey. Daemon scoffed and grabbed the belt before the cage started to rise and he rolled out of the ring.
Gemma Foster: Zoey showing that she has fight in her but will it be enough against the Emperor of the Empire?
The Titaness of Empire
The screen flickers, causing the audience and commentators to go silent. After a bit of adjusting, the tron shows The Titaness standing in the dead center of the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. She waves before beginning to speak.
Samantha "Titaness" Hamilton: Hello, Empire. So first and foremost, I want to apologize to Josh. I'll give you a rain check one of these days. But I promise, I didn't intend to seem like I was running away. I just ... well, there was bad timing, and I had to remedy that. I'd planned for my wedding, and as much as I love this industry, I'm not gonna postpone major like my honeymoon to get back in the ring. Now then ...
She moves a few blonde strands away from her face, going quiet for a few moments ... and then resumes talking.
Samantha "Titaness" Hamilton: We seem to have someone in this company who views themselves as an 'emperor' of sorts.
She gestures to the Colosseum all around her.
Samantha "Titaness" Hamilton: Probably similar to the exact same kinds who ruled and played God here by deciding if a gladiator was good enough to be spared or not.
Her eyes roll as she smirks.
Samantha "Titaness" Hamilton: But apparently ... he's not a very well-liked 'emperor'. Particularly given he has one woman already wanting a piece of him. Guess what, Daemon?
Sam points to herself.
Samantha "Titaness" Hamilton: You got a second woman ready, willing, and wanting to defy you. I don't care how or even if I help Zoey Mathews-Mitchell. And while it'd certainly be a bonus to go for your strap, it most definitely does not have to be on the line. I just want an opportunity to knock you down quite a few pegs down the ranks.
She nods firmly.
Samantha "Titaness" Hamilton: And you damn well better believe that I will keep that vow. I will make that happen, one way or another. Until then ... you all will see me again ... at Victorem!
The tron shuts off, making the scenery of Rome and Samantha disappear.
EW Tag Team Championship
Steel Cage Match
Glorious Bastards (Johnny & Ollie Maverick) Vs. Freaks with Benefits(c) (Kayla Taylor & Krista May Williams)
The cage was lowered once again as we were ready for our tag team match. The Bastards entered the ring first, hyping each other up on the way down to the ring. They walked around the cage, looking into the ring, and climbed into the structure via the door. Out next were the champions who heard it from the fans.
Gemma Foster: The Freaks used to be fan favorites here in Empire Wrestling but they’ve since turned their backs on the fans.
Scott Parker: And they’ll be the first to tell you they’re happier for it. Johnny and Ollie are here to end the reign of the Freaks.
Taylor and Williams entered the ring and were right in the faces of their opponents as they held up the belts. The referee got in the middle of them and halted things. He took the titles and handed them off as the door was closed and locked. The bell sounded and the match started with a flurry of punches. Ollie and Taylor were going at it as Johnny and Williams went at it. Williams hit a big headbutt while Ollie hit a knee to the gut of Taylor. Ollie and Williams were soon landing blows on each other and trying to get the upper hand.
Gemma Foster: I can’t even follow the action!
Ollie used the cage to assist him with a tornado DDT on Williams. He popped right back up and took a running boot to the face from Taylor. Ollie dropped to a knee. Taylor was grabbed by Johnny from behind. Ollie stepped up and hit a kicking kick to the face and Johnny hit a German suplex. Johnny and Ollie teamed up on Williams next as Ollie held her in place and Johnny landed hard kicks and strikes. Johnny lifted Ollie up and onto his shoulders and tossed him like a lawn dart at Williams and Ollie took her down with a spear!
Scott Parker: Innovative offense from the Bastards here tonight.
Taylor was up and hit Johnny with a superkick. She turned to Ollie who took her down with a step up enziguri. Taylor staggered but stayed on her feet. Johnny came running over and hit the OFMF (Running Palm Strike). Williams was back up and hit Ollie with a dropkick. She kipped up and ducked a clothesline from Johnny. Williams hit Johnny with the Revertigo (Tilt-A-Whirl Armbar) and had it locked in. Ollie was able to break it up but was quickly grabbed by Taylor. Taylor hit Ollie with a belly to back drop. Ollie sat up and Taylor looked at Williams and they hit him with the Plan A/Season Ender Combo (Double Shining Wizard).
Gemma Foster: That’s it! They’ve put so many teams away with that combo!
Taylor covered Ollie but he kicked out just before three. Taylor and Williams couldn’t believe it but Johnny was there before they could regroup and think of their next step. Johnny hit Williams with the OFMF and then turned for the Third Eye Opener (Ripcord Bicycle Knee Strike) on Taylor. Ollie was up and came flying off the top ropes with the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (WWCD) (450 Diving Headbutt) onto Taylor.
Scott Parker: That might be it! Winner winner chicken dinner!
Johnny covered Taylor but Williams was just able to break it up.
Gemma Foster: Krista May with the save!
All four competitors were starting to slow but Williams pulled Johnny up to his feet and sent him into the corner. Ollie charged but Williams whipped him into the corner against Johnny. Williams charged and looked for a splash but Ollie moved and she just hit Johnny. Williams turned and was hit with by Ollie’s 360 No-Scope! (Jumping corkscrew roundhouse kick) Ollie was grabbed from behind by Taylor and she hit him with the Broadway Lights (Cross Rhodes). Johnny grabbed Taylor as she stood and sent her hard into the steel cage. Johnny then grabbed her from behind and hit a big German suplex into the cage!
Scott Parker: Kayla might be broken in half.
Williams took a moment to check on Taylor and got to her feet. She tried to fight off Ollie and hit a head scissors takedown. Williams hit Johnny with a spinning back kick to the gut. She hit the ropes and Ollie was there and lifted her up and the Bastards hit the Third Eye Massacre (Flapjack by Ollie into a single knee Facebreaker from Johnny). Ollie covered and the referee counted the three.
WINNERS AND NEW EW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: Johnny and Ollie Maverick, the Glorious Bastards via pinfall @ 15:03
Scott Parker: New champions!
Gemma Foster: Johnny and Ollie have done it!
The fans roared as the two embraced in a hug and were handed the championships. The Bastards held the titles high and celebrated as the cage raised up and referees checked on both Taylor and Williams who were slowly coming to. The new champs rolled out of the ring and were cheered as they left.
Gemma Foster: What a battle here tonight.
FM Young Vs. AJ Adams
It was time for the main event and the fans were still coming off the high of the last match. The crowd was equally into Adams and Young, with Young getting a giant ovation in the Warehouse as she came out. Both competitors shook hands and chatted as the bell sounded to get things underway.
Gemma Foster: A show of respect before this match starts.
Scott Parker: I know FM, along with even the fans, were unsure of AJ when he came to EW with his storied past. He gave everyone a sour taste in their mouth during the final stretch of BWF as he became obsessed with the BWF Championship and only looked out for himself.
Gemma Foster: Well, to be fair, before they closed down he seemed to be a changed man and he’s even said as much here. We’ve seen him come to the aid of both FM and Chelsea Pryce here in EW against who would end up being Lacy Nelson.
The match was underway and it was a slow start with Adams trying to keep the pace slow. He had her in an armlock and down to a knee. FM flipped forward and rolled through, taking Adams down with an arm drag. The fans cheered as they both smiled and circled each other. We were treated to some back and forth technical wrestling before Young hit Adams with a big elbow smash to the face and started to land a series of strikes. Young hit a European uppercut and then a jumping knee strike to the face. Young looked for the Man-Machine Interface (Discus Clothesline) but Adams ducked it. Adams looked for the Lights Out (Tazzmission) but Young was able to roll forward and away. She turned and was grabbed by Adams who set her up for the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail) but she was able to spin away. She stepped up and hit Adams with an enziguri.
Scott Parker: What a series of events there. Each competitor has each other well scouted.
Young pulled Adams to his feet and sent him into the corner and slowly started to work him over. She smashed him head first into the top turnbuckle and hit a snap suplex. Young jumped up and connected with the Negasonic Warhead (Starship Pain). She covered and Adams kicked out at two.
Gemma Foster: FM was hoping that was it.
Scott Parker: But I think she knows that’s not going to be enough to put away AJ Adams.
She quickly was to her feet and Adams wasn’t far behind. She attacked with kicks to the shins and looked for a DDT. Adams countered into a northern lights suplex. He flipped backwards to his feet and Young sat up. Adams hit the ropes and hit a sliding elbow strike. Adams covered but just for two. Adams and Young were both up and locked up. Adams looked for Eat It (Fame-Asser) but Young moved. Adams turned to Young and Young hit Man-Machine Interface! The fans popped as Young got to her feet and fell into the ropes. She looked over to the turnbuckle as they cheered again.
Gemma Foster: I think she’s thinking Battery Powered Bombshell!
The cheers turned to boos as Lacy Nelson jumped the barricade and rolled into the ring as Young wasn’t aware, climbing the ropes. She settled and saw Lacy smiling. Nelson went to charge but was grabbed by Adams. Adams looked for Lights Out but Nelson hit struggled free. She looked for a superkick on Adams but he ducked it.
Scott Parker: Lacy Nelson is out here attacking AJ and FM!
Adams almost ran into Young on the turnbuckle as he ducked the kick but he stopped himself. Young jumped over Adams and behind Nelson. She lifted Nelson into a belly to back suplex but drove her knees into her back (Lumbar Check)! Nelson rolled out of the ring as Young got to her feet fired up. Adams grabbed Young and hit the Last Call (Codebreaker)! He went to roll into a cover but Young smartly rolled out to the apron. Adams reached through the ropes and started to lift her up. Young tried to fight him off and they exchanged blows. Young launched herself over the top ropes with a slingshot DDT! She pulled Adams up to his feet and hit the same move as she did on Nelson! She covered and picked up the three!
WINNER: FM Young via pinfall @14:25
Scott Parker: I’ve never seen FM use that move before but it just got her a big win heading into Next Level: Victorem.
Young had her hand raised in victory and turned to Adams. She reached down and offered to help him up as she sat there. He looked away for a moment before accepting it. They both looked up to the top of the stage where Nelson now was and she just smiled. She pointed up and then said she was climbing the ladder, “welcome to her headline”.
Gemma Foster: And Lacy Nelson out here once again sending a message.
Scott Parker: We'll see everyone next week for Next Level: Victorem!
Adams raised the hand of Young as we closed the show.
The camera panned to the ring as “Pomp and Circumstance” began to play. We could see a pedestal with something under a cloth.
