Episode #23 - September 11, 2019
We open with a moment of silence as 9/11/2001 comes up on the screen before we get our normal open.
Scott Parker: Hello everyone and welcome inside the EW Warehouse in Long Island City, NY. Today is a somber day around the city as it’s the 18th anniversary of 9/11/2001 and the fans here tonight remember where they were on that harrowing day. Tonight, we here in Empire Wrestling match towards Next Level: Ascension two weeks away.
Gemma Foster: Scott, I’m a New Yorker and today will always be a day of pain but it’s things like the action here tonight that help get everyone through. So let’s just get right into tonight’s action.
Extreme Division Match
Samantha Hamilton Vs. Kaito Hirano
The crowd cheered Hamilton on as she walked out to the stage with the Extreme Championship on her shoulders. She took a few moments to pose with it before heading to the ring. Clips of her match with Daniel Daemon played before she got to the ring. Hirano made his way out next and rushed the ring with a kendo stick in hand. He quickly went on the assault of Hamilton with the kendo stick, landing hard shots to the back. He swung for the fourth time but Hamilton caught it in her side. Hirano tried to pull it away but Hamilton hit him with a clothesline. She quickly pulled Hirano to his feet and sent him into the ropes. He ducked under a clothesline attempt and hit the far ropes. He looked for a running dropkick on the return but Hamilton was able to dodge it. Hirano got to his feet and Hamilton had come off the ropes with a spear. She rolled out of the ring and tossed in a steel chair. Hirano caught her with a kick to the head and then a blue thunder bomb. He looked for a cover but only got a two before she kicked out. Hirano started to pull Hamilton to her feet but she pushed him away. He stepped back to her and was hit with an uppercut. Hamilton then lifted Hirano up and back down with a spinebuster right onto the steel chair. Hamilton rolled into a cover for only two. Both competitors were to their feet and Hirano tried to surprise Hamilton with a small package but she kicked out at two. They both were quickly back up and Hamilton locked in her Exiled To Tartarus (Sleeper Hold). Hirano started to struggle and was able to get free but was kicked in the gut. Hamilton pulled him into position and delivered the Wrath Of The Titans (Pedigree) onto the chair and covered for the win.

Spectres [Mighty Jo Young/Riley Rouse] Vs. Glorious Bastards [Johnny/Ollie Maverick] Vs. Ragnarok [Fenryr Wulfsson/Karli Frost]
Tensions were high as all six competitors stood in the middle of the ring. The referee started to try and get competitors out of the ring and the three teams started to brawl! The referee took a bump and was pulled out of the ring by trainers as the fighting continued. Johnny and Ollie hit Frost with their Third Eye Massacre (Flapjack by Ollie into a single knee Facebreaker from Johnny). Fenryr started to clear house as he hit Ollie with Hel Road (Double Underhook Powerbomb). Then he turned and hit a massive spear on Young. Johnny Maverick delivered the OFMF (Running Palm Strike) on Fenryr and then Rouse delivered Bored Now! (Trouble in Paradise) Before Rouse and Johnny could do anything else they were attacked from behind.
Scott Parker: That’s Josh Cherry and Harvey Carbine, the Midnight Special! They signed an Empire Wrestling contract earlier today!
Cherry and Carbine hit a double step up enziguri on Johnny. Rouse tried to fight back but they hit the Minutes to Midnight (Slingblade [Cherry] / Backside Spear [Carbin]. The two seemed fired up as they then tossed Johnny out of the ring. Frost jumped onto the apron but quickly changed her mind as she jumped down and regrouped with Fenryr as they stood at the bottom of the ramp. Cherry reached through the ropes and demanded a mic.
Josh Cherry: Listen assholes, we're tired of seeing tag team wrestling being treated like it doesn't mean anything. Tag team wrestling is just as important as singles wrestling. Tag Team wrestling is an art form. An art form that we are here to champion. So sit the fuck down, sit the fuck back, and watch our magic.
Harvey Carbine: What he said.
Gemma Foster: Midnight Special just put the tag team division on notice!
Josh Goldstein Vs. Kayla Taylor
It was time for our next match as Goldstein hit the stage with a massive pop. He rushed to the ring and slid in under the ropes. Taylor came out to the ring solo and didn’t seem all there.
Gemma Foster: Kayla Taylor, as you can see, is solo tonight for the first time in a long time. Seems like she and Krista are still on the outs.
Taylor made her way to the ring and we were set to kick things off. The two locked up and Taylor pushed Goldstein into the corner. She swung but he ducked it and hit a Hannukanrana (Reverse Hurricanrana)! Taylor staggered to her feet and had to duck the Chutzpah Boot (Running Bicycle Kick). She grabbed Goldstein and delivered the Merry Go Round (Spin Fisherman Suplex). She covered but only got a one count. Krista May Williams walked out to the top of the ramp to watch the action as she sat herself in a chair. Taylor noticed and looked up and started to leave the ring. Goldstein grabbed Taylor from behind and looked for a school boy pin but Taylor rolled through.
Gemma Foster: Krista is out here and it’s distracting Kayla.
Taylor popped up to her feet and set up for the Broadway Lights (Cross Rhodes) but Goldstein was able to spin away. He caught her with the Chutzpah Boot and the crowd cheered! He hit the ropes and connected with the Dreidel Drop (Somersault Leg Drop) and covered for the victory.

AJ Adams Vs. FM Young
It was main event time as Adams and Young were next. Before the two could start their match the fans were treated to Sara Logan, the liaison for EW Management.
Sara Logan: Hello everyone. I’m out here tonight to make a quick announcement. In two weeks' time we’ll be here for Next Level: Ascension and at that event we’ll see the return of the King of the Mountain match! Last year, FM, you won that match to become the EW World Champion. This year the question is who will be able to call themselves King, or Queen, of the Mountain. Or, actually, Kings or Queens as this year we’ll see TWO King of the Mountain matches as both the Primetime and World Championships will be defended in these matches!
The crowd popped as FM and AJ watched on.
Sara Logan: The winner of this match will go on to compete in the World Championship King of the Mountain match!
Adams and Young glanced across the ring to each other and started to circle and locked up. Adams got Young into a side headlock and flipped her to the match and quickly went into a sleeper hold. He drove a few elbows into the side of her neck before reapplying the sleeper hold. Young slowly powered to her feet and hit Adams in the gut with hard elbows to break the hold. Young hit the ropes and came back with a hard clothesline. Adams rolled right to his feet and took a flying forearm to the face. Young pulled Adams up and sent him into the corner. Young charged and hit a double knee strike into the chest of Adams that dropped him to a seated position. She then hit the far corner and came back with a basement dropkick to the face. Young pulled Adams to the center of the ring and went for a cover but just got one before he kicked out. Young took a moment before pulling Adams to his feet and locked in a side headlock. Adams looked for a belly to back suplex but Young flipped behind him and landed on her feet. She looked for the Amazon Rage (Lumbar Check) but Adams was able to struggle away before she could lift him. Adams spun around and dropped Young with the Last Call (Codebreaker)! He rolled her into a cover and got a two count.
Gemma Foster: FM kicking out of the Last Call there but AJ is rolling.
Adams quickly pulled her up to her feet into position for the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail) but Young spun away. Young planted her feet and spun before hitting Adams with the Man-Machine Interface (Discus Clothesline)!
Scott Parker: These two are pulling out all the stops here tonight. A win here puts one of them in the King of the Mountain match for the World Championship.
Young looked to the corner and started to climb to the top rope.
Gemma Foster: Battery Powered Bombshell time!
Young started to ready herself but Adams was up to his feet and quickly climbed to the top ropes and hit Young with a superplex! Both competitors were slow to their feet and each used ropes to help them up. Adams was up first and looked for Eat It (Fame Asser) but Young moved out of the way and then took Adams down with an ace cutter. Young crawled into a cover and the crowd was shocked as Adams got his foot on the ropes before three. Young shook off the frustration and pulled Adams to his feet but he caught her with a surprise Last Call! Adams quickly pulled Young up to her feet and hit the Legacy Maker but as she hit the mat she kept rolling and rolled to the outside.
Scott Parker: AJ has this match won but FM had the ring awareness to roll out of the ring!
Adams tried to scurry after Young but she made it out of the ring. He looked at the referee who began the count. Adams rolled out of the ring after her and tossed her back inside. He slid back in and went for a cover but Young rolled him up with a small package getting a two count. Adams sat up and Young was on her knees as the two looked at each other. They started to exchange blows on the mat as the fans roared .
Gemma Foster: You can see how much these two want this win!
The two continued the fight as they climbed to their feet. Adams tried to lock in the Lights Out (Tazzmission) but Young struggled and blasted him with a hard elbow to the side of the head. She landed a series of strikes to face of Adams before hitting with a spinning backfist to the side of the head. She jumped up and planted him with a spiking DDT. Adams stumbled to his feet and seemed off balance from the blow to the head. This allowed Young to get into position and hit the Amazon Rage! She hooked the leg for a cover and picked up the win!
WINNER: FM Young via pinfall @ 18:44
The fans cheered as Young got to her feet.
Scott Parker: Will history repeat itself? Will FM Young be the Queen of the Mountain.
Before Young could move far, she turned right into Daniel Daemon’s Inquisition (POWERFUL running lariat). The fans booed as Daemon stood over Young with the EW World Championship in his hand, high above his head.
Gemma Foster: The Emperor of the Mountain if Daemon has anything to say about it.
He adjusted the championship onto his shoulder as Lacy Nelson came through the crowd with the Victorem Briefcase in hand. The fans were buzzing as she snuck into the ring and hit Daemon in the back with the briefcase but he didn’t budge. She backed up as Daemon turned. Nelson looked for a superkick but he swatted her foot away before delivering a chokeslam.
Gemma Foster: Daemon just swatted Nelson’s superkick away like she was a fly bothering his meal.
Daemon held up the title once again before rolling out of the ring. Nelson and Young slowly getting back up as we cut away on Daemon on the ramp.
