Scott Parker: Let’s go ahead and get right into the action.
Sunshine Warrior II Vs. Kaito Hirano
In a rematch from last week, Hirano and the Sunshine Warrior squared off. Hirano attacked Warrior as soon as he entered the ring with stomps to get him leaning against the corner. The referee tried to get Kaito to break but every time he would, he’d rush back over to stomp on Warrior. Hirano was threatened with a DQ and he walked away to allow Warrior to stand. Warrior pulled himself to his feet and Hirano charged with a big corner splash.
Gemma Foster: Kaito on a warpath here tonight.
Hirano ran to the other side of the ring and hit the corner before coming back towards Warrior. He looked for another corner splash but Warrior moved out of the way. Warrior grabbed Hirano and spun him around with a ripcord knee strike to the face. Warrior stepped up and hit Hirano with the Illuminator (Enziguri). Warrior rolled out of the ring and celebrated.
Challenge Answered
The fans gave some boos as “Watch Me” by Icon for Hire started to play and out came Kayla Taylor.
Gemma Foster: It’s been a rough few months for Kayla. First losing the Tag Team Championships, then the fallout with her partner Krista May Williams, and now she’s been on a bit of a losing streak since going solo.
Taylor made her way down the ramp and grabbed a microphone before climbing into the ring. She took a few moments to walk around the ring before speaking, looking down at the mat.
Kayla Taylor: I’m not out here for a pity party. I’m out here because I need to find myself again. I was once one of the best up and coming superstars in this company. Now it seems like I can’t win a match to save my life.
She looks up and to the entrance.
Kayla Taylor: So I’m issuing a challenge. Anyone who is ready for a fight tonight step through the curtain, make your way down the ramp, climb into the ring and fight me.
She dropped the microphone and waited. “Help Me” by Alkaline Trio kicked up to the confusion of the fans in attendance and a new face appeared on the stage. A brunette with matching trunks, top, and kickpads walked out with a smile on her face. She was announced as Brighton Fischer and made her way to the ring.
Kayla Taylor Vs. Brighton Fischer
Fischer and Taylor circled each other with Taylor mouthing off to the newcomer. Taylor quickly got in her face and pushed her into the corner. Taylor swung but Fischer ducked it and got behind her. Taylor dropped to a knee and hit Fischer with a chop to the throat to stagger her into the ropes. Taylor charged but Fischer sent her up and over the top rope and to the apron. Scott Parker: This won’t be the last time we see these two square off, that’s for sure.
Fischer was ecstatic after the match and pumped her fist into the air as Taylor rolled out of the ring.
Midnight Special Vs. Jeremy Thompson and Joe Book
Gemma Foster: This match changed last minute from Midnight Special taking on Casey Grey and Alicia Monroe due to travel issues for Grey and Monroe.
Book and Thompson were in the ring and it was easy to see they were out of their element as soon as the Tag Team Champions hit the ring. Cherry and Carbine wasted no movements as they went on the attack. Carbine held Book in the air with a lifting underhook from behind and Cherry came in with a vicious clothesline. Thompson landed a few right hands in on Carbine before getting rocked to the mat with a spinebuster. Carbine delivered a German suplex that made Thompson roll out of the ring. Cherry hit Book with a step up enziguri, Carbine hit him with an uppercut. This had Cherry coming back to Book with a sling blade and Midnight Special hit the Minutes to Midnight (Slingblade [Cherry] / Backside Spear [Carbin])! Cherry covered and they picked up the win.
WINNERS: Midnight Special via pinfall @ 2:11
The Grand Design
Following the match “The Parable” cued up and the audience popped as former EW World Champion, “The Tomorrow Man” Ben Macbeth came to the ring. Carbine and Cherry each sat on the middle rope, holding it open for Macbeth to enter. Macbeth was armed with a microphone and wasted no time, his music cut and he began speaking.
Ben Macbeth: Hello.
The first word that Macbeth has spoken in an Empire Wrestling ring in years seemed to resonate with the fans. Macbeth paused and let them take it in before he continued, milking the reaction.
Ben Macbeth: The Tomorrow Man returned to Empire Wrestling a few weeks ago and everyone has questions. Why now? Why AJ Adams? Why Midnight Special? Why...why...why?
Macbeth gestures to Carbine and Cherry.
Ben Macbeth: Why.
Carbine and Cherry laugh.
Ben Macbeth: I was the World Champion in EW who was never beaten. I was the standard, I was the symbol of Empire Wrestling. No one could put me down. No one was good enough to take that title from me. And yet, I stand here without it. It was taken from me. Not by an official means, but because of politics.
Macbeth adjusts his sunglasses.
Ben Macbeth: This fact does not anger me, it does not insult me. It is a fact that is actually flattering. No one could defeat The Tomorrow Man.
A beat.
Ben Macbeth: No one could beat me for that championship because of one simple fact. I am professional wrestling. I am what professional should be, I am the zenith of what a professional wrestler is. Much like Josh Cherry and Harvey Carbine, I embody wrestling. I am a symbol of wrestling.
Macbeth approaches both Carbine and Cherry, the EW Tag Team Champions.
Ben Macbeth: The three of us are the epitome of professional wrestling’s potential. I proved it here in EW as a singles wrestler and they have done the same as a tag team. Macbeth, Cherry, Carbine - we are the standard. We…
A pause.
Ben Macbeth: ...are EMBLEM. If there is a God in this industry then we are It’s Grand Design. Empire Wrestling will be not be defined by the letters E and W. It will not be defined by AJ Adams or David Blazenwing. I will be defined by us.
Macbeth lets his words hang in the air for a moment, letting his hand and the microphone fall away from his lips for a moment before he suddenly bring it back.
Ben Macbeth: We are here. We are a force. Deepest condolences.
Macbeth lets the mic slip from his hand and it falls to the mat. He stares into the crowd for a moment before he leaves the ring with Midnight Special.
