Episode #30 - January 17, 2020
Scott Parker: Welcome to the first episode of Hype in 2020! We’re at episode 30 and we’re coming off a huge show in Next Level: Turmoil. We crowned a new Primetime Champion as Ben Macbeth was able to defeat AJ Adams.
Gemma Foster: Not only that, he took Adams out of action for the next 4 months or so!
Scott Parker: AJ had surgery for a torn rotator cuff and we wish him a speedy recovery.
Call to All
In the arena the crowd was abuzz when “The Parable (Tomorrow Man Mix)” rang out from the p.a. system. A mixed reaction followed as the members of EMBLEM sauntered out onto the stage. Led by the new EW Primetime Champion, “The Tomorrow Man” Ben Macbeth, the trio took their time coming to the ring. The team of Midnight Special, Harvey Carbine and Josh Cherry had their respective EW Tag Team titles over their shoulders. It was quite a site, seeing all three members holding gold.
The youngest member of the trio, Cherry, ran up to the camera and grabbed the lens. His rowdy nature saw him yelling into the camera, yelling that EMBLEM was the best. Carbine was more reserved, choosing to keep a slow pace only a few steps behind Macbeth.
The triad entered the ring and miked the strong, yet divisive reaction that they were receiving. Macbeth took hold of a microphone and the audience quickly quieted. Macbeth adjusted the championship over his shoulder and began to speak.
MACBETH: I am speaking now and you all will benefit from listening...quietly. Turmoil was quite the evening for EMBLEM. Not only did I defeat Empire Wrestling stalwart AJ Adams, not only did I take his Primetime Championship, but I also took him out of action for the next few months.
This drew a negative response from the audience.
MACBETH: My intention was to defeat AJ. I wanted to prove that I was the better wrestler and that is exactly what I did. That being said, it was not my intention to injure AJ. That only proves a lack of restraint on my part and I consider myself a very disciplined individual.
A beat.
MACBETH: My goal was not to injure him, however, it is not my fault that AJ did not possess the wrestling prowess to prevent his own injury. The only one to blame for AJ’s injury is AJ. Hopefully over the next few months he will use that time to think about how to hone his skills. Here is to a speedy recovery AJ. To your health!
Macbeth held up his Primetime Championship and the audience booed due to Macbeth blaming Adams for his own injury. Macbeth didn’t seem to care.
MACBETH: That was not the only victory for EMBLEM at Turmoil. My dear friends Midnight Special yet again defended their Tag Team Championships against a team that is not even worth mentioning.
Cherry stomped around the ring in celebration as Macbeth and Carbine stood statue still.
MACBETH: Please do not regard my words as boasting. Of course we are proud of our accomplishments but our Grand Design is not to win in such easy fashion. Our respective matches at Turmoil did nothing to test our skills. They might as well have been exhibition matches because we did not feel as if there was any possibility of losing.
More boos from the audience.
MACBETH: It is EMBLEM’s goal to have the best, most competitive matches in Empire Wrestling. So far, we have not been given that opportunity. So consider this an open call to anyone on the roster. Midnight Special are the crown jewel of the tag team division and it is their destiny to be the greatest Empire Wrestling tandem of all time.
Cherry grabbed Carbine’s shoulders, mugging for the camera. Carbine didn’t move.
MACBETH: I have already proven that no one can beat me at the World Title level. That championship was taken from me because no one could even come close to defeating me. It is now my intention to raise the Primetime Championship to that level. I will defend this championship at any time, against any competitor. The champion makes the championship and I will elevate the Primetime Title to the main spotlight of Empire Wrestling.
The camera slowly closed in as the trio stood together, their respective gold glimmering under the production lighting.
MACBETH: To anyone who would be foolish enough to try and test our dedication, to anyone who believes that they have posess the ability to dethrone us…
Macbeth took a dramatic pause, glancing at the titles that each man displayed.
MACBETH: Deepest condolences.
“The Parable (Tomorrow Man Mix)” cued up and EMBLEM held their championships in the air to end the segment.
Gio DeLuca Vs. Sunshine Warrior II
Sunshine Warrior had made his way out to the ring and was ready for the upcoming match as DeLuca came out to the stage. He had a microphone and looked out to the crowd.
Scott Parker: As always we’re about to hear from Gio.
DeLuca didn’t speak this time but carried to microphone to the ring. He jumped on the apron and threw it at Warrior.
Gemma Foster: Or not!
DeLuca jumped into the ring and quickly went on the attack with right hands and then connected with a blue thunder bomb. DeLuca looked the best he had been in his Empire Wrestling career. Warrior started to battle back after catching DeLuca with a running knee strike to the face. Warrior then caught DeLuca with the Illuminator (Ensuigiri) and looked for a cover but DeLuca kicked out. Warrior looked for a small package but DeLuca was able to roll to where he was pinning Warrior. Warrior kicked out and was taken down with a slingblade as he stood. DeLuca went to the second rope and jumped off but was caught with the Corona (Bridging Fallaway slam) and it allowed Warrior to pick up the three count win.
WINNER: Sunshine Warrior II via pinfall @ 9:04
Alicia Monroe Vs. Brighton Fischer
Fischer and Monroe met in the middle of the ring and started to circle. Grey was on the outside of the ring and shouted a few instructions to Monroe. Monroe pulled Fischer into a side headlock and flipped her to the mat. Monroe showed off her mat wrestling skills before mounting her opponent and laying into her with hard forearms. Monroe jumped up and Fischer stepped up with a wheel kick. Fischer took over the match with slow neckbreakers and headlocks.
Gemma Foster: Brighton Fischer has looked impressive so far here in Empire Wrestling. It’s clear the talent is there.
Scott Parker: I could say the same thing about Alicia Monroe but she just hasn’t been able to put it all together just yet. But she’s clearly in a talented family with her and her cousin, Casey.
Grey slapped the mat and Monroe started to battle back with a big elbow to the face that stunned Fischer. Monroe connected with her Freebird (Running Bulldog) and Grey told her to head to the top rope. Monroe started to climb the ropes and Fischer was to her feet. She rushed to the top of the ropes and grabbed Monroe and delivered a Spanish fly! Fischer slowly pulled Monroe up and then hit the Hook, Line, & Sinker (The Bitter End) before covering for the win.
WINNER: Brighton Fischer via pinfall @ 11:42
Grey slid into the ring as Fischer left and pulled Monroe up and seemed frustrated. The two seem to begin to argue before rolling out of the ring.
Casey and Alicia begin to make their way to the back when “Devil” by Shinedown begins to play. A moment later Rune Sigidottir steps from behind the curtain, flanked by Fenryr and Karli. Casey and Alicia stop halfway to the stage.
Rune Sigidottir: Okay okay okay. Listen, kill the music and everyone shut up. Thank you. Now, you’re probably curious as to why I’m out here, so I’m going to make this brief. You remember a couple months back where I granted the two of you a stay of execution, right? Well, the supreme court has overruled that. So, at the next Hype, let’s go ahead and do this. You against us. I mean, I’ve watched you spiral out of control for long enough and I would love nothing more than to speed up the process and watch you become completely undone.
Casey starts yelling at Rune and walking forward, but Alicia grabs her by the arm and holds her back.
Rune Sigidottir: No, it’s okay. Take your time, sweetheart. Really think about it.
Rune throws the microphone down and she, Karli, and Fenryr disappear back behind the curtain.
Josh Goldstein Vs. Austin Scott
In a non-title match, Goldstein and Scott squared off in a singles match. Scott made sure to show off the Extreme Championship as he came to the ring and walked around it.
Gemma Foster: Austin Scott retaining that Extreme Championship at Next Level: Turmoil in a match that went to a draw.
Scott Parker: Who will step up and challenge for that championship next?
Goldstein came out second and the fans cheered him on as he ran to the ring and slid under the ropes. He jumped up and tossed his cape to the outside. He turned and was leveled with a discus clothesline from Scott. Scott started to stomp on Goldstein before the referee pulled him off.
Gemma Foster: This match hasn’t even started yet!
Scott pushed past the referee and pulled Goldstein to his feet and speared him into the corner as the bell sounded to start things. Scott clotheslined his opponent over the top rope to the apron. Scott charged and ran into a shoulder in the gut before Goldstein flipped over the ropes with a sunset flip! Goldstein rolled to his feet and caught a standing Scott with his Hannukanrana (Reverse Hurricanrana)! Scott stumbled to his feet and Goldstein rolled him up with a small package for a win!
WINNER: Josh Goldstein via pinfall @ 2:10
Goldstein popped up to his feet and fled out of the ring in celebration as Scott looked around the ring.
Dave Blazenwing Vs. Lacy Nelson
It was time for the main event but the fans booed as 'Year Zero' by Ghost started to play and out walked the World Champion Daniel Daemon. He placed the title over his shoulder and stood on the stage in his three piece suit.
Gemma Foster: The Emperor is here.
Daemon slowly made his way down the ringside and sat at the announce booth. He looked over at Parker and Foster and placed the title down on the table in front of him.
Scott Parker: Looks like he wants a ringside seat for this one.
Lacy Nelson made her way down to the ring first to a nice cheer for her return.
Gemma Foster: These fans, that once booed Lacy, now showing her some love after her battle with Daemon over the past couple months. They’ve slowly started to love her.
Blazenwing was out second to a nice pop of his own as he dropped to his knees at the top of the ramp.
Scott Parker: And Dave getting a standing ovation after his match against Daemon at Next Level. Dave won that match via countout which is why Daniel Daemon is still champion and you just know that he is itching for another shot.
Blazenwing and Nelson were in the ring and both looked out to Daemon who reach up and gave the title a pat. There was some confusion as the liaison to EW Management walked out onto the stage with a microphone in her hand.
Sara Logan: Tonight, the first Hype of 2020, should be marked with a moment that sets the course of action for the next set of shows. Therefore this match is scheduled for one fall and will determine the number one contender to the EW World Championship!
Daemon looked on in disgust as Nelson and Blazenwing smiled.
Gemma Foster: What!?
Scott Parker: Will Blazenwing get another chance? Or can you imagine if Lacy Nelson held both the contract for a title match whenever she wanted and was the number one contender at the same time?
The match started and we got a friendly handshake between the two. Nelson and Blazenwing locked up and exchanged arm locks. Nelson reached back and grabbed Blazenwing and hit a snap mare that she followed with a dropkick to the back of the head. Blazenwing got to his feet and Nelson looked for a crossbody but he caught her with a powerslam. The two went back and forth with strikes before Blazenwing caught her with a Samoan drop. He tried to lock in the Firehawk Lock (Crossface) but Nelson was able to roll away and to her feet. She looked for a superkick that Blazenwing ducked and then gave her a small applause.
Gemma Foster: Lacy has been using that superkick to give people like Chelsea Pryce and FM Young issues for a year now.
Scott Parker: I think Dave liked her style there.
Nelson smiled back and the two locked up again. Nelson jumped up and connected with a knee to the face that dropped Blazenwing to a knee. She looked for the Hollywood Split (Shining Wizard) but he was able to duck under it. Blazenwing stood and lifted Nelson with a back drop as she charged him and sent her to the outside, crashing hard to the mat. Daemon chuckled as he sat forward and looked down at Nelson. Nelson got to her feet and looked at Blazenwing in the ring before turning and hitting Daemon with a superkick!
Gemma Foster: Oh no.
Nelson rolled into the ring and Daemon was up out of his chair. He climbed onto the apron as the referee tried to stop him but the champion pulled him over the top rope and tossed him to the floor before climbing in. Blazenwing and Nelson hit him with a double superkick that sent him into the corner. Nelson charged and Daemon dodged it and hit Blazenwing with the Inquisition (POWERFUL running lariat)! Nelson charged and ran into a chokeslam. Daemon rolled out of the ring and grabbed the championship.
Scott Parker: Pure destruction.
The lights went out and came back up with a masked wrestler, wearing a baggy hoodie, standing in the ring.
Gemma Foster: Who is that?
The masked wrestler hit Nelson with a hard headbutt as she started to stand and then delivered a codebreaker the back of the head. Blazenwing started to climb to his feet and the lights went out. As they came back up the masked wrestler was gone.
Scott Parker: What in the world!?
Blazenwing checked on Nelson and looked around. Daemon stood on the stage watching with his head at a tilt.
Gemma Foster: Here comes a referee!
Blazenwing helped Nelson up and held her into the corner as he asked if she was okay. She put her hands up before falling to a knee.
Scott Parker: Lacy Nelson is hurt. That attack on her head has her out of it.
Nelson pushed off and started to step for a superkick but Blazenwing hit her with a Full Effect (Superkick)! Blazenwing covered and picked up the win.
WINNER: Dave Blazenwing via pinfall @ 14:55
Blazenwing had his hand raised and pointed up to Daemon.
Gemma Foster: We’ll get the rematch!

Scott Parker: Lacy might be concussed.
The final shot was Blazenwing checking on Nelson and looking up at Daemon.
Gemma Foster: Not only that, he took Adams out of action for the next 4 months or so!
Scott Parker: AJ had surgery for a torn rotator cuff and we wish him a speedy recovery.
