Episode #34 - March 28, 2020
Scott Parker: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to a very unique episode of Empire Wrestling’s Hype. As you all know the COVID-19 virus has shaken the world. Between social distancing to certain businesses being shut down, it’s been a month that has changed everything. During this time of crisis we wanted to be able to bring you a few moments of solace so we are working within a closed set with a minimal crew. It’ll just be me here ringside calling to action for you, so let’s get right into the action!
Midnight Special (Josh Cherry/Harvey Carbine) Vs. Outlaw/Dave Blazenwing
Scott Parker: It was on our last show where Outlaw teamed with Gio DeLuca and took on Midnight Special and was able to defeat them. That no doubtedly left a sour taste in the mouths of the Tag Team Champions, so they’ve challenged Outlaw this time and he found Dave!
Midnight Special had made their way to the ring first with the titles around their waist and seemed to be in a sour mood. Cherry and Carbine stood in the ring and Dave Blazenwing made his way out to the stage. He walked a few steps down the ramp and waited for Outlaw to make his way out. Outlaw’s music played but he didn’t come out. It kicked back up again and once again nothing. Blazenwing looked behind him and then to the ring as he could hear Cherry and Carbine laughing. Cherry had a microphone and started to speak.
Josh Cherry: Sorry, Dave, but Outlaw won’t be joining us tonight. He’s a little under some boxes right about now.
We see a shot of tech crews pulling boxes off Outlaw as he had been attacked before the show began.
Blazenwing shrugged and charged the ring and slid in under the ropes. He popped up to his feet and ducked a clothesline from Carbine and then hit Cherry with a spear!
Scott Parker: Dave is just ready for a fight tonight!
Blazenwing popped up to his feet and was hit with a big boot from Carbine. Blazenwing rolled to his feet and caught Carbine with a Samoan drop. Blazenwing mounted Carbine and started to lay into him with punches. Cherry caught Blazenwing with the Cherry’s Jubilee (Jump Stalling Sidekick)! The two started to stomp on Blazenwing.
Scott Parker: The numbers game catching up.
Cherry and Carbine pulled Blazenwing up and took turns delivering hard chops to the chest. Cherry grabbed Blazenwing by the hair and held him in place as Carbine delivered a discus lariat. The Tag Team Champions bumped fists as they were ready to deliver their Minutes to Midnight finisher.
Scott Parker: Wait a minute!
Someone ran to the ring in a “NFG” shirt and jumped up to the apron to cause a distraction.
Scott Parker: That’s Luke Mathews!
Mathews jumped into the ring and hit Carbine with a running dropkick and then kipped up to his feet. Cherry charged and Mathews grabbed him and hit a northern lights suplex, then another. Carbine walked over and Mathews grabbed him and delivered a double northern lights to hit the Northern Trio. Carbine staggered to his feet and Mathews hit him with the NFG [No Fucks Given] (Yakuza Kick to the BACK of the head! Cherry was up and Blazenwing was up and hit the Full Effect (Superkick)!
Scott Parker: Luke Mathews with a big save!
Mathews and Blazenwing looked at each other and gave each other a fist bump.
Scott Parker: Well I didn’t expect that!
Ragnarok Vs. Glorious Bastards
Scott Parker: It’s time for our next match and it has big implications. The former champions, Johnny and Ollie Maverick, would love to win here tonight and be one step closer to a rematch. Karli Frost and Fenryr would love to get a shot at the titles and what better way than knocking off the former champs here tonight?
Fenryr and Frost came out to the stage first and Fenryr was clearly ready for a fight. He ripped off his shirt and tossed it to the ground.
Scott Parker: Fenryr is a beast of a man.
Ollie and Johnny Maverick came running out to the stage next and bumped elbows before heading to the ring. Ollie climbed to the top rope and jumped into the ring as Johnny rolled in under the ropes. Frost and Ollie appeared to be ready to start off the match and the two locked up. Ollie opened up with an armdrag and then a hip toss as Frost charged after getting back up and rushing. She flipped to her feet and caught Ollie with a back elbow to the face before connecting a Russian leg sweep. Frost rolled backward and planted her feet and stood. She tagged in Fenryr who climbed into the ring and grabbed Ollie. Frost took a knee as Fenryr lifted Ollie up and dropped him gut first onto the knee of Frost.
Scott Parker: Good double team there to take all the air out of Ollie Maverick.
Fenryr pulled Ollie up and tossed him into the corner and started to land hard strikes to the gut. He lifted Ollie up into a bearhug and squeezed. Ollie fought back with elbows to the side of the head of Fenryr and dropped to his feet. Ollie looked for a hurricanrana but Fenryr turned it into a bucklebomb. Fenryr hit the ropes and dropped Ollie with a clothesline. Fenryr made a tag to Frost as Johnny called out for Ollie.
Scott Parker: Ollie Maverick really needs to make a tag to Johnny.
Frost climbed into the ring and lifted Ollie up onto her shoulders. She was looking for a Death Valley Driver but Ollie was able to struggle free to his feet. Frost turned around and Ollie jumped up and planted her with a DDT. He started to crawl to his corner and made the tag to Johnny. Johnny jumped into the ring and hit Frost with a double underhook suplex. He turned and hit the OFMF (Running Palm Strike) to Fenryr to knock him off the apron. Frost climbed to her feet and Johnny lifted her up and connected with the Drain Bramage (Jumping Brainbuster)! He rolled her into a cover and the referee got a two count before Fenryr pulled him out of the ring. Fenryr tossed Johnny into the steel steps. Fenryr looked for a boot to the face but Johnny moved out of the way and Fenryr kicked the steps. Fenryr turned just in time to get hit with Ollie’s X-Buster (Shooting Star Press) as he dove from the top rope to the outside.
Scott Parker: Ollie Maverick just took Fenryr out with that X-Buster as he was standing!
Johnny climbed into the ring and Frost looked for her AMRAAM (Missile Dropkick) off the top but Johnny dodged it. She popped up to her feet and went to run the ropes but a hand grabbed her. It was Casey Grey. She had been hiding under the ring. Frost stumbled and tripped. She spun around but as she did Johnny grabbed her by the hand and connected with the Third Eye Opener (Ripcord Bicycle Knee Strike).
Scott Parker: Casey Grey with a message to Karli that she’s not Ragnarok’s puppet!
Johnny rolled Frost into a cover and picked up the pinfall.
WINNERS: Johnny and Ollie Maverick
Scott Parker: Big win here tonight for the Glorious Bastards.
Lacy Nelson Vs. Alicia Monroe
We saw a quick shot backstage as Monroe and Grey walked past each other, just bumping into each other shoulder to shoulder and a tense look after. Monroe made her way out to the ring and was visibly upset standing in the ring. Getting more and more red with frustration.
Scott Parker: Alicia needs to try and shake off what just happened backstage or this might be a quick match for Lacy Nelson.
Nelson came out next with her L2N leather jacket on and spun around before tossing it away. She rushed the ring and jumped to her feet, ready for a fight. The bell quickly rang as the two started to land punches on each other. Nelson ducked one and looked for a superkick but Monroe dodged it.
Scott Parker: Lacy trying to end it early with that kick!
Nelson stumbled with the miss and Monroe came off the middle ropes with a springboard enziguri. Monroe locked in a headlock on the downed Nelson and applied pressure. Monroe landed hard strikes to the side of the neck and head before locking in a sleeper. Nelson slowly started to get to her feet and was able to break free. She went to run the ropes but Monroe pulled her down by her hair. Monroe pulled Nelson up and looked for the Freebird (Running Bulldog) but Nelson sent her into the corner with a push. With Monroe sitting and facing the middle turnbuckle, Nelson hit the Le Gasp (Lungblower Backbreaker). Nelson pulled Monroe out of the corner and covered but only got two. Nelson pulled Monroe up and connected with a German suplex. Nelson rolled up and looked for a second German suplex but Monroe flipped behind Nelson and landed on her feet. Monroe grabbed Nelson and hit the Freebird. She pulled herself up to her feet and fell into the corner. She climbed up to the top and looked for the Phoenix Dive (Swanton Bomb) but Nelson got her knees up and into the back of Monroe.
Scott Parker: Crash and burn for Alicia!
Nelson got to her feet and started to pull Monroe up but Monroe countered into an armbar!
Scott Parker: What a reversal from Monroe!
Monroe screamed at Nelson to tap but she refused. Nelson tried to create some leverage and was able to roll and get away and went under the ropes to the outside. Nelson grabbed at her arm and turned to see Monroe diving with a tope suicida! Monroe grabbed Nelson and quickly rolled her into the ring. She flipped over the ropes and hit a leg drop. She covered and Nelson kicked out at two. Monroe slowly started to climb to the turnbuckle but was hit from behind by Nelson. Nelson climbed to the second turnbuckle with Monroe and hit a tiger suplex!
Scott Parker: What a move! Monroe just hit hard!
Monroe staggered to her feet as Nelson rolled to hers and rocked Monroe with a superkick! Monroe slumped over and Nelson grabbed her before hitting the Headline (Eat Defeat). Nelson covered for the victory.
WINNER: Lacy Nelson
Scott Parker: Alicia Monroe just put up a hell of a fight against Lacy Nelson. That was one hell of a match.
Nelson sat on her knees and patted Monroe on the shoulder before heading to the back.
Kaito Hirano Vs. Ben Macbeth
Macbeth made his way to the ring with the Primetime Championship over his shoulder.
Scott Parker: Ben Macbeth won the Primetime Championship at Next Level: Turmoil on January 3rd and it’s almost as no one has been able to touch him. We know that Outlaw is itching to get a match with Macbeth but Macbeth, for the lack of a better term, has blown him off and has sent his fellow EMBLEM members the Midnight Special to take care of his “dirty work”. Macbeth is waiting for a challenge and he might just get one here tonight with Kaito Hirano.
Hirano was out next and as soon as he climbed into the ring he was hit with Macbeth’s From Parts Unknown (360 Buzzsaw Kick)!
Scott Parker: Macbeth is not fooling around tonight!
Macbeth grabbed Hirano and pulled him into the center of the ring and set up for the Serious Moonlight (Lifting Single Underhook DDT) but the lights went out. The came back up as “Lights Out” by POD started to play and Macbeth dropped Hirano.
Scott Parker: That’s AJ Adams’ music! He’s been out since Next Level: Turmoil with a torn rotator cuff.
Macbeth looked up at the stage and waited but no one came. The music finally cut out and he turned back to Hirano and was hit in the gut with a steel chair from Outlaw!
Scott Parker: It was a ruse! Outlaw is here attacking Macbeth!
Outlaw positioned Macbeth and delivered Breaking the Law (Canadian Destroyer)! Outlaw was fired up as he grabbed the Primetime Championship and started to swing it around. Outlaw dropped the belt as Midnight Special charged to the ring and started to attack Outlaw. Dave Blazenwing and Luke Mathews were close behind and they all brawled.
Scott Parker: All hell has broken loose!
The brawl continued as we went off-air.
