Biography:
xWa: After spending a few months in a small organization known as Wrestling the World, Luke Mathews would join the xtreme Wrestling alliance in December of 2005. He would compete under a variety of names, most notably Mat Lucas. Luke was best known in xWa as one-half of the tag team The Prototypes with John Klaude End (JKE). This team held 6 tag team championships during their time in xWa. The group would ultimately disband which put a damper in Luke's career as he was mostly unsuccessful in singles competition. In xWa, Luke was quite a high flyer.
CCW: Luke debuted in Chaotic Championship Wrestling on January 31, 2011 as one of the first members of the xWa Invasion. Since his debut, Luke has been a World Heavyweight Champion, a Tag Team Champion, a multi-time award winner, and has been arrested twice. Luke even competed in the main event of Destiny 2011, defending and retaining his World Heavyweight Championship to Madden Fierce in A Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match. He would also team with his brother, Benjamin, to win the Tag Team Championships.
EW (Eternity Wrestling): Luke had a brief stint with Boston-based independent promotion Eternity Wrestling. He looked to win the Eternity Championship but lost to Mason Scott in the finals.
TCW: Luke would depart CCW, and head to Turbo Charged Wrestling. During his time here, he had a relationship with owner Chloe St. Cloud. He was with TCW for a few months until its ultimate demise.
AXW: Following the death of TCW, Luke started his own company, Alternative Xperience Wrestling. AXW officially ceased in October 2013, after a bumpy couple of months of operation.
EWS: After the fall of AXW, Luke found his way into Excelsior Wrestling Society on the Fury Brand. He came to EWS to take back the AXW Championship, which Duncan Aries took with him after AXW closed. Luke would also start AXW back up under the EWS banner. In December 2014, he lost ownership of AXW to his adopted son, TRENT (Trent Mathews).
AXW, Pt. II: Luke Mathews brought AXW back under the EWS banner in the summer of 2014, acting as the North East Territory. Luke eventually lost the rights to AXW to his son TRENT in December 2014. Luke was still contracted to AXW as a wrestler, and thus TRENT did his best to make Luke's life a living hell after their fallout in mid-2014. Luke eventually put a team together to face a team chosen by TRENT for the ownership rights of AXW, which Luke won.
BWF: While running things in AXW Luke also competed in BWF. He held the BWF Trios Titles with the Queen's Soldiers.
EWS, Pt. II: With the downfall of BWF, Luke made a return to EWS for a brief while.
EW (Empire Wrestling): Now in his late thirties and not doing anything too significant the past few years, Luke Mathews returns to his home state of New York to make some sort of impact.
AXW, Pt. III: While competing in EW, Luke also once again owns AXW.
Outside of Wrestling: Luke Mathews is the oldest of three siblings; his sister Zoey and brother Benjamin would also become professional wrestlers shortly after Luke’s debut with CCW. Luke was born and raised in Central New York State where he lived until he was thirty. Luke, along with some other family members, relocated to Florida with Luke calling West Palm Beach home for the next five years. With AXW starting to branch out from Florida to California, among other personal reasons, Luke lived in Santa Monica from 2017-2019. In 2019, after some time away from wrestling, Luke briefly moved back to Central New York, renting a home in Syracuse to be closer to the family that didn’t move away. Luke now lives in Long Island to be closer to EW Headquarters. Luke has previously dated professional wrestlers Darkness and Janet Hurricane. Luke is noted to living a straight edge lifestyle and enjoys being a musician in his free time.
Entrance Music: "Hellraiser" by Motorhead
Entrance Description: The lights in the arena turn to red, and smoke pours over the stage as the intro to the Motorhead version of "Hellraiser" begins to play. A figure emerges through the smoke when the guitars enter the song. Luke Mathews stands on the stage, wearing a variant of a "No Fucks Given" t-shirt under a leather jacket. He looks around at the crowd as Lemmy begins singing the first verse, before making his way down the aisle, walking most of the way with his arms outstretched.
(Introduction)
When he reaches ringside, he walks to the side of the ring and climbs onto the apron, wipes his boots, and steps through the ropes. He walks to the camera side ropes and places his right foot on the bottom rope, and his left foot over the top rope and on the second rope (similar to what the Miz does). He holds his arms out to his sides with his hands in a fist. He holds this pose until his music fades out. He removes his jacket and shirt, and may sit on the top turnbuckle if he is awaiting his opponent.
