Episode #37 - May 8, 2020
Gemma Foster: Hello everyone! Welcome to Hype! Starting things on a positive note, Scott Parker will be back with us next week! Tonight we have an action packed night with four great match ups. But first, a major announcement about the upcoming 40th episode of Hype. For that we’ll go backstage to Sara Logan.
Major Hype
Sara Logan: Thank you, Miss Foster. Recently on Twitter it was announced that Next Level will return with Victorem on June 26th. It has been decided that on May 29th, the 40th episode of Hype, it will be a supershow. Every championship will be on the line that night!
Sara smiles as she looks into the camera.
Sara Logan: That show will be the biggest episode of Hype yet.
Zoey Mathews-Mitchell Vs. Gio DeLuca
Before anything could happen, a mouth of Gio DeLuca could be heard filling the Warehouse. He walks out, talking on a microphone.
Gio DeLuca: You heard it, peeps. The big Hype show with every title on the line and I’m going to be on it. Tonight I’m going to take out Zo and then I’m going to go on to take out Allen Chaney and become the new Extreme Champion. Hey, Zoey, why don’t we make this thing an Extreme Division match?
Gio stood in the ring and waited for an answer. Smoke pours across the entrance area as “To Be Free” begins to play.
“Don’t come looking for me
I don’t wanna be found
I just wanna be free
So don’t come looking for me
I don’t wanna be found
I just wanna run away and learn to be free”
Zoey Mathews-Mitchell makes her way from the back, twirling a kendo stick. She’s dressed in her ring gear, a black hooded vest, and a black neoprene mask over her mouth with Zoey written across it in a pink kind of scratchy font. She stands still and raises the kendo stick high, then makes her way down the aisle, where she rests the kendo stick on her shoulder. Zo nodded towards DeLuca and rolled into the ring.
Gemma Foster: Here we go!
DeLuca and Zo met in the middle of the ring with hard shots before DeLuca caught her with a hard headbutt. She staggered into the ropes and he flipped her over the top rope with a clothesline. DeLuca climbed onto the apron and jumped off, hitting a double ax handle smash. He quickly pulled her up to her feet and smashed her face first into the announce table. He grabbed a steel chair from the timekeepers area and tossed it into the ring. Zo turned and landed a hard kick to the gut of DeLuca. She hit him with a hard forearm to the face and then hit him with a DDT onto the floor! Zo pulled DeLuca up and rolled him into the ring. DeLuca climbed to his feet slowly and charged right into a tilt-a-whirl slam. Zo was fired up and grabbed her kendo stick. DeLuca pulled himself up and had the chair in hand. He swung the chair and a crack echoed as Zo hit it away with her kendo stick. Zo swung again and cracked it over the head of DeLuca.
Gemma Foster: What a shot from Zoey! She just knocked Gio into next week.
DeLuca dropped the chair and Zo hit him with the Faceplant (Famouser) right onto it! DeLuca hit the chair face first and was rolled into a pin attempt that he kicked out at two. DeLuca was pulled to his feet and sent into the corner. Zo charged but she ran into a boot to the face. DeLuca started to climb to the top but Zo pushed his foot off and hung him on the top rope. She climbed up after him and hit a big Z4 (Spanish Fly) off the top! She covered and picked up the pinfall!
Gemma Foster: Zoey Mathews-Mitchell potentially sending a message to Allen Chaney, the Extreme Champion, with this win here tonight.
Zo grabbed her kendo stick and held it in the air before heading to the back.
Wounded Gazelle
Alicia Monroe walks up to Casey, who is sitting on a chair backstage. She has a large brace on her knee. Alicia leans against the wall.
Alicia Monroe: Hey, what’s up?
Casey Grey: Nothing. Just sitting here. This knee thing is really annoyin’ the hell out of me.
Alicia nods.
Alicia Monroe: Yeah. But is that what’s really bothering you?
Casey Grey: What do you mean?
Alicia Monroe: Rune?
Casey Grey: What? No! I’m done thinking about her. I’m not looking back into that madness. I got my car back, we’re…better than we were, and I just want to move on with my life and my career.
Alicia Monroe: Doc said no. Not for a couple weeks at least. I’m even worried about you being out there tonight.
Casey Grey: Oh, don’t worry about me. Kaito is a decent, stand up guy. Win or lose, it’s all you tonight. I’m not going to do anything stupid to hurt myself worse.
A beat.
Casey Grey: Hey, why don’t you go loosen up a bit before your match. I’ll be here when you’re up.
Alicia Monroe: You sure you’re okay?
Casey Grey: Yeah. Everything’s fine. See ya soon.
Alicia nods. Casey smiles and watches as Alicia walks away. She takes her phone out and scrolls through a few screens. She shakes her head and puts her phone away.
Casey Grey: Freakin’ hell.
Enforcer Vs. Daniel Daemon
Enforcer stood in the ring and stretched in the center of the ring as he awaited his opponent. The lights went out for a moment and turned red as “Year Zero” by Ghost started to play. Daniel Daemon walked out to the stage and stood with his hands behind his back. He pointed down to Enforcer and the two men that he was with two weeks ago jumped into the ring and started to attack Enforcer. He tried to fight back but they dropped him with a double flapjack. Enforcer tried to stand but was hit with a big boot from one of the men. The other came off the top rope with a big elbow drop across the chest.
Gemma Foster: Daniel Daemon is out here directing traffic and his henchmen are taking out Enforcer.
Daemon made his way to the ring as the lights came back up and he climbed to steps. The two pulled up the top rope as they sat on the second, making it easy for Daemon to enter. He said something to them as they exited the ring and went under the ring and pulled out a table. They pushed it into the ring and climbed in, quickly setting up the table. Daemon reached down and lifted Enforcer up by the throat and drove him through the table with a chokeslam.
Gemma Foster: Daniel Daemon standing over a broken Enforcer.
Daemon stood looking down at Enforcer as the two men placed a long red and white cape fit for an emperor. He climbed out of the ring as we cut away while he made his way up the ramp with his two henchmen behind him.
Caitlin Shay Vs. Jack Williams
"Snake Charmer" by Blink-182 hits as a strobe light show begins. A little bit of smoke pours over the stage. A little after 30 seconds, when the snare roll comes in, is when Caitlin Shay emerges from the back. She stood at the top of the ramp and fixed her GRRRLs armband and quickly made her way to the ring. She rolled in and looked over to the camera with a smirk.
Gemma Foster: That’s a shit eating grin if I’ve ever seen one. Ladies and gentlemen, that is Caitlin Shay and she has made her way to Empire Wrestling with the GRRRLs and she’s the Greatest of All Time. Ever.
Jack and Josh Williams made their way out to the stage and gave a pose. Josh chatted up his brother who was set to compete tonight. Jack made his way to the ring and jumped to the apron. He jumped over the top rope and landed in the ring before rolling forward. He got right to a standing position and was ready to go. The bell sounded and Jack looked for a spinning back elbow right away that was blocked by Shay. Shay jumped up and hit a dropkick that sent Williams back into a corner. Shay charged but ran into an elbow to the face. The two exchanged holds and drags to the mat. Shay tried to lock in an armbar but Williams locked his hands and struggled free. He turned to her and she took him down with a snap powerslam.
Gemma Foster: Shay is looking very good in the ring tonight.
Shay went for a cover but after a quick two Williams kicked out. He got to his feet and Jack caught Shay with a roundhouse kick to the side of the head. He jumped up and delivered a DDT that planted Shay. He climbed to the second rope and dove with a senton and went for a cover for two. Williams pulled Shay up to her feet and sent her into the ropes and then took her down with a spinning sidewalk slam. Williams hit the ropes and ran to her, hitting a running shooting star press. He looked for another cover and got two as she powered up. Shay ducked under a clothesline from Williams and grabbed him, delivering the Shayplex (Half Dragon Half Tiger Suplex). Williams rolled out of the ring as Shay went for him to cover. She climbed to the top rope and dove as Williams turned and took him out with a crossbody!
Gemma Foster: Caitlin out here putting it all on the line!
Shay and Williams were both slow to stand as the referee started the ten count. Shay started to pull Williams up but he speared her into the barricade. Shay grabbed Williams and took him down with the Version 2 (Reverse STO transitioned to a Koji Clutch). Williams started to fade and Shay broke the hold. She tried to pull Williams to the ring and the referee called for the bell on a double countout!
Gemma Foster: Caitlin had the match won but she had to get Jack back into the ring to end it.
Shay rolled into the ring and looked upset with the referee as Williams climbed in slowly. Shay grabbed him and locked in the clutch again and he started to tap! Josh Williams slid into the ring and Shay let go and rolled out of the ring. She raised her own hand as if she had won the match and smiled.
Kaito Hirano Vs. Alicia Monroe
It was time for main event action as Hirano came out to the stage first.
Gemma Foster: It’s really been a rough time here in Empire Wrestling for Kaito. Kaito Hirano has the right tools, had a good trainer, but just can’t seem to put it together. It was 2015 or 2016 when he got hurt in a match against Fenryr Wulfsson in the BWF and ever since he just hasn’t had “it”. His opponent tonight is no stranger to Fenryr as he takes on Alicia Monroe. Someone who has had a history with Ragnarok.
Hirano stood in the ring as Monroe made her way to the ring. She got about halfway down when she noticed that front row, in the empty seats, sat Casey Grey. She tried to stand but her knee brace pulled her back down to her seat. She held up a “Go Monroe Go” sign that got a smile out of Alicia.
Gemma Foster: Casey down here to provide a little moral support for Alicia.
Monroe rolled into the ring and tossed her hat over to Grey. Hirano and Monroe locked up to start the match with the sound of the bell. Hirano caught Monroe with hard kicks to the legs to try and get her off balance. Monroe returned with a stiff uppercut to the jaw and then a big right hand. She looked for a Russian leg sweep but Hirano countered into a small package that got one before Monroe could kick out. Monroe jumped up and hit Hirano with a running knee strike. He hit the mat before rolling to his feet and she quickly took him back down with a running lariat.
Gemma Foster: Alicia is firing on all cylinders.
Monroe pulled Hirano to his feet and sent him into the corner. She charged and connected with a big corner splash that she then went right into the Freebird (Running Bulldog). Monroe rolled him into a cover and Hirano kicked out at two. He rolled to the apron and pulled himself up. Monroe charged and ran into a step up kick that Hirano then connected with a sunset flip powerbomb into a cover! The referee got into position and Monroe kicked out at two. Hirano climbed to his feet as Monroe got up slowly, cheering coming from Casey Grey on the outside. Hirano looked for the Yoi Yume O [Sweet Dreams] (Running Knee to knelt opponent) but Monroe moved out of the way. Monroe jumped up and delivered a big neckbreaker. Monroe started to climb to the top rope but Hirano was soon after her. He climbed to the second rope and tried to pull her down but she fought back. She pushed him down and he hit the mat. Monroe readied herself and connected with the White Lightning (Moonsault)! She covered and got two as Hirano just kicked out in time.
Gemma Foster: So close!
Monroe couldn’t believe it but Grey kept cheering her on as Hirano started to stand. She charged at him and ran into a tornado kick to the face! He lifted her, wanting the Oyasumi [Goodnight] (Fireman's Carry Overhead Kick), but Monroe countered into a DDT. Monroe pulled Hirano to his feet and dug down deep as she lifted him up and hit the Down in Flames (Burning Hammer). She rolled him into a cover and picked up the pinfall!
Gemma Foster: An impressive win for Alicia Monroe here tonight.
Monroe rolled out of the ring and hugged Grey and started to make her way up the ramp. Hirano sat up in the middle of the ring and punched the mat. He sat cross legged and looked up at Monroe and then over to Grey.
Gemma Foster: And the losing streak continues for Kaito.
Kaito made his way to the back and we got a brief commercial for Hype #40 on May 29 and the end of the show.
