Episode #39 - May 22, 2020
Scott Parker: It’s time for Empire Wrestling Hype! Tonight we’re one week away from the big 40th show where all the titles will be on the line. Before we get there we have a big show for you here tonight. Allen Chaney has a test in front of him as he must defend the Extreme Championship against Austin Scott tonight, just one week before Zoey Mathews-Mitchell gets an Extreme Championship match of her own.
Gemma Foster: Ben Macbeth takes on Kayla Taylor and let me tell you, Scott. I talked to Kayla backstage before the show and she’s in an interesting mindset. I haven’t seen her this determined in quite some time.
Scott Parker: Don’t forget about our main event tonight. Outlaw faces what could be a tough task as he’s trying to get another shot at Macbeth’s Primetime Championship. That tough task? The returning FM Young!
Gemma Foster: I saw FM Young walking around backstage. She got here so early today and has just been reacquainting herself with the Warehouse. She worked out in the gym, she ran the ropes, took a few bumps. She’s ready, Scott.
Josh Cherry Vs. Luke Mathews Vs. Bailey Mayhew
Scott Parker: With that it’s time for the first match of the evening and here comes one half of the Tag Team Champions, Josh Cherry.
Cherry was out on the stage first with his title on his shoulder and his partner, Harvey Carbine, behind him. The duo made their way to the ring and climbed inside.
Gemma Foster: Not sure I like having Carbine ringside for the match, Scott.
Out next was Luke Mathews wearing a new “Old Guard/NFG” shirt. Mathews started to make his way to the ring as Carbine stood by the ramp, watching him walk past. Mathews jumped onto the apron and climbed into the ring. Cherry and Mathews started to exchange words in the middle of the ring.
Scott Parker: There’s no love between Luke and Josh. If you remember back to Next Level: Revolution, it was Luke Mathews who had Josh Cherry locked in the Luke Lock and was potentially moments away from forcing a submission to beat Midnight Special for the Tag Team Championship before Carbine got involved.
Cherry and Mathews started to push each other as Bailey Mayhew started to make her way out to the stage. Cherry and Mathews came to blows and things got started with the sound of the bell. Mayhew rushed to the ring and slid in under the ropes as Mathews and Cherry were going blow for blow. Cherry flipped Mathews to the mat with a hip toss before turning to Mayhew. He speared her into the corner and she landed a clubbing blow to his back. Mayhew hit Cherry with a knee to the gut but he grabbed her and sent her across the ring into the opposite corner. Mathews hit Mayhew with a big running knee to the gut. He turned and grabbed her for a bulldog and hit a bulldog on her while hitting Cherry with a clothesline. Mathews popped up to his feet and pulled Cherry up. Cherry caught Mathews with an enziguri and rolled to his feet. Cherry ducked a forearm from Mayhew and pulled her in before delivering a snap release German suplex.
Gemma Foster: Quick movements from Josh Cherry. He’s keeping up on the attack on both Mayhew and Mathews.
Cherry started to pull Mayhew up and into a vertical suplex but she countered into a small package roll up but Mathews broke it up quickly at one. Mathews grabbed Mayhew and looked for a double underhook backbreaker but she countered into a headscissors takedown. Mayhew and Mathews both popped up and she caught him with the Hurricane Bailey (Cyclone Kick)! Cherry was up and rocked Mayhew with a hard lariat as she stood and she fell into the ropes before stumbling into Cherry hitting a DDT. Cherry rolled Mayhew into a cover but she kicked out at two. Cherry started to pull Mayhew up but turned to see an incoming Mathews. Mathews sent Cherry into the ropes and hit him with a powerslam. Mathews popped up and started to climb to the second turnbuckle. Mayhew was up and Mathews hit a diving leg lariat. Mathews started to adjust the black sleeve on his right arm. Cherry started to stand and Mathews looked for the Tower of Power (Clothesline From Hell) but Cherry ducked it and Carbine reached up and pulled down the top rope, sending Mathews up and over the top rope to the floor.
Gemma Foster: And there’s Carbine getting involved and there’s no DQs in a triple threat match!
Carbine stomped on Mathews but it wasn’t long before Blazenwing rushed his way down the ramp to tackle Carbine!
Scott Parker: Dave Blazenwing is here! So is Caitlin Shay!
Shay had jumped over the barricade and cheered on Mayhew to get up.
Cherry had Mayhew in position for the Cherry Popper (Bloody Sunday) but Shay jumped on the apron for a moment and dove onto Blazenwing, Mathews, and Carbine with a crossbody! This caught the attention of Cherry for a moment and Mayhew slipped free and hit a Lockjaw (Stunner version)! Mayhew rolled Cherry up into a cover and just before three she was pulled out of the ring by Mathews. Mathews hit Mayhew with a Chokebuster (Chokeslam lift to kneeling spinebuster) on the outside of the ring before climbing back inside. Mathews started to lift Cherry up for the Dead End (Burning Hammer) but Cherry countered into a crucifix pin and got a three count!
Scott Parker: An impressive counter by Josh Cherry there to pick up a big win heading into next week. That's got to give his team some momentum going into their championship defense.
Cherry rolled out of the ring and was met by Harvey Carbine handing him his title and the two left up the ramp as the Old Guard and the Grrrls watched on.
Extreme Championship
Austin Scott Vs. Allen Chaney (c)
Scott Parker: These two have had a hard hitting series of matches over the last few months and tonight is the next installment. Austin Scott has been itching for a rematch for the Extreme Championship since Chaney took it from him at Next Level: Revolution.
Austin Scott was out to the stage first and tossed his hat into the non-existent crowd. He had his hair pulled back and was adjusting his elbow pads as he walked down the ramp. He rolled into the ring and started to untie one of the pads of the top turnbuckles.
Gemma Foster: Looks like Austin is ready to inflict some pain and isn’t going to be shy about it.
Scott rolled out of the ring and grabbed a steel chair before climbing back in and set it up before sitting in it. He leaned forward as he waited for Chaney to come out. He looked confused when the Liaison of the Empire, Sara Logan, made her way out with a smile on her face.
Gemma Foster: What’s Sara Logan doing out here?
Sara Logan: Hello, Austin. I know you’re expecting Mr. Chaney and we all were ready to see the Extreme Championship be defended but I actually gave him the night off. Don’t worry, you’ll still get your rematch for the Extreme Championship but it’ll be next week in a triple threat match. In an Extreme Division Cage Match.
Scott had stood and was now leaning against the rope, not happy about having to wait for his match, as she let some tension build.
Sara Logan: The championship will be defended inside a cage but what makes it special to the Extreme Division is that around the ring, fastened to the cage will be weapons for the competitors to use. Kendo sticks, chairs, chains, let your imagination go.
Scott Parker: Wow! That’s a bombshell, Gemma.
Sara Logan: But, tonight, Mr. Scott, you do have a match. If your competitor wins, he’ll also be added to the match to make it a fatal four way match.
Scott was pissed as he started to shout at Logan.
Gemma Foster: And another one from Sara Logan!
“Time Bomb” by Hollywood Undead started to play as Scott looked up at the ramp, unsure of his opponent.
Scott Parker: I’ve never heard this theme, Gemma.
“DISHONOR” flashed on the screen and as the song continued out walked Kaito Hirano.
Gemma Foster: A new look for Kaito with some blonde hair and some new trunks but look at that above him on the screen. “Dishonor”, Scott.
Scott Parker: Yeah, that’s a weird one. We know he was one a member of a trio called Honor Club so this is a call to that I would guess. We did see Kaito tweet out earlier this week that, using the translation on Twitter, says that “it’s time for a change” and “reform”.
Extreme Division Match
Austin Scott Vs. Kaito Hirano
Hirano slowly walked to the ring and climbed up to the apron and slipped into the ring through the ropes. The bell sounded and Hirano charged with a running lifting knee strike to the face that staggered Scott into the corner. Hirano came out guns ablaze with hard kicks to the legs and gut. Hirano jumped up and hit a corner enziguri that made Scott stumble out of the corner. Hirano charged and ran into a big powerslam from Scott.
Scott Parker: And a big slam from Austin Scott!
Scott pulled Hirano up to his feet and walked him around the ring before driving him into the mat with a sidewalk slam. Hirano climbed to his feet but was lifted up and back down with a belly to back suplex.
Gemma Foster: I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this could turn quickly, Scott. Kaito Hirano is 0-20 in his solo career here in Empire Wrestling and a big 0-22 overall.
Scott pulled Hirano up and started to set up for a double underhook powerbomb but Hirano battled back and was able to slip free. Hirano then ducked a lariat and lifted Scott up and drove him to the mat with a blue thunder bomb. Hirano grabbed the chair and drove it into the gut of Scott as he stood. Hirano dropped the chair and spiked Scott into it head first with a jumping DDT. Hirano covered Scott and got two before he kicked out. Hirano quickly started to pull Scott up but was pushed into the ropes as the two locked up. Scott hit a big headbutt that dazed both men. He lifted Hirano up onto his shoulder and drove him back first into the exposed turnbuckle and then delivered the Booze Cruisin' (Oklahoma Slam).
Scott Parker: That could be it, folks.
Scott stood slowly and stood over Hirano. He turned as someone came flying off the top ropes and took him down with a meteora!
Gemma Foster: Who is that!?
The man wore a “DISHONOR” shirt and popped to his feet. Austin Scott stumbled to his feet and Hirano cracked the steel chair over his skull. Hirano lifted Scott up on his shoulders and hit a burning hammer GTS!
Scott Parker: Whoever he is, he’s helping out Kaito!
Hirano directed the guy to climb to the top rope and he readied himself. He jumped off and connected with a big 630 senton. Hirano covered Scott and the referee counted the three count pin.
Scott Parker: Kaito Hirano picks up his first ever win in Empire Wrestling and he’s going to be in the Extreme Championship match next week because of it.
Gemma Foster: And a side of Kaito Hirano that we’ve never seen.
Hirano rolled out of the ring with the man and the two left the ring area.
Hey Grrrls, Hey
“Come and Get It” by I Prevail kicked up and the World Champion Lacy Nelson walked out onto the stage with the championship over her shoulder.
Scott Parker: Here comes Lacy Nelson!
She held up the championship for a moment before taking a stroll down to the ring. She grabbed a microphone from the ring announcer and climbed into the ring. She adjusted the championship as her music started to die down.
Lacy Nelson: So I asked for a few moments here tonight because we’re a week away from what should be an exciting Hype. You’ve already heard some of the matchups that are scheduled to take place but, as of now, I don’t have a match. This is a show that’s going to have all of the championships on the line and I’m out here to issue a challenge.
Lacy turns to the top of the ramp and the camera swings with her.
Lacy Nelson: A few weeks ago we all saw Brighton Fischer take her shot at Daniel Daemon. I thought she actually looked very impressive and it’s clear the girl is going to be a star some day. I see the groups popping up all around Empire Wrestling and I know that at some point they’ll all be coming for me. So this is me stepping in front of it and calling out the Grrrls. Brighton, how ‘bout it? Hope to hear your answer soon.
Nelson drops her microphone and holds up the championship as we cut away.
Ben Macbeth Vs. Kayla Taylor
Out came Kayla Taylor for the next match as she took a moment to pose for the camera at the top of the ramp.
Gemma Foster: Here comes a big match for Kayla Taylor, Scott. She’s been on a sort of downslide since breaking off with Krista May Williams and going solo. We’ve already seen once tonight that anything can happen in Empire Wrestling. A win over Ben Macbeth could put her in contention for the Primetime Championship.
Taylor had made her way down to the ring as Macbeth appeared on the stage. He was going it solo with the other members of EMBLEM sticking behind in the backstage area. He revealed the Primetime Championship as he opened his long coat and tossed it to the ground. He took his time getting to the ring and climbed up the steel steps before climbing into the ring. He handed his championship to the referee who handed it off out of the ring. The bell sounded as Macbeth approached Taylor and pulled her into a side headlock. She tried to push him off but he dropped to a knee and flipped her over. He applied a headlock and even had her in position for a pin attempt but she kicked out at one once she realised her shoulders were down. Taylor was able to sit up and start to roll to her feet and broke free. She stepped up to Macbeth with a dropkick that sent him into the ropes. As soon as Taylor stood and turned Macbeth was on her with a running forearm smash. He hit the ropes as she started to stand and rocked her with a running open palm strike.
Scott Parker: The Primetime Champion with a VICIOUS palm strike.
Macbeth grabbed Taylor from behind and delivered the String Theory (Rolling German Suplex). He climbed to his feet and Taylor stumbled up soon after. Macbeth looked for a clothesline but Taylor was able to duck it and delivered a neckbreaker. Taylor quickly looked for the Plan A (Shining Wizard) but Macbeth rolled out of the way. As soon as he stood he landed his Toil & Trouble (Combo; Knee Kicks, Spinning Back Kick, Leaping Knee, Spinning Backfist) combo. On the backfist, Taylor fell into the corner into a seated position. Macbeth pulled Taylor up out of the corner and pulled her to the center of the ring and she started to fight back right left hands. She slipped behind Macbeth and dropped him with a reverse DDT. Taylor hit Macbeth with the Plan A as he tried to sit up but it didn’t look like she got a lot of momentum behind it. She rolled Macbeth into a cover and he kicked out just at two.
Gemma Foster: A nice cover there by Kayla but Ben is able to get his shoulders up at two. She’s started to turn this match her way!
Taylor looked for Stamp It Out (Superkick to opponent on knees[Avada Kedavra-WWE 2k15) but Macbeth ducked it and then popped to his feet. He caught her with a bicycle knee strike as he jumped up. She looked for a clothesline but Macbeth grabbed her arm and pulled her in before hitting her with a series of arm trap elbows to the neck. Taylor dropped to a knee and was dazed as the referee forced a break so he could check on her.
Scott Parker: Macbeth just relentlessly tore into Taylor’s shoulder and neck area.
Taylor started to stand but Macbeth hit her with another String Theory. Taylor tried to sit up and Macbeth pulled her to her feet and put her in position. He looked down at her before hitting the Serious Moonlight (Lifting Single Underhook DDT) and rolled her right into a cover getting the victory.
Macbeth rolled to his knees as he was beside Taylor who was down and still out. Macbeth reached out and was handed the Primetime Championship before standing and holding it high.
Scott Parker: Another impressive win by Ben Macbeth. The Primetime Champion once again takes down his opponent and it is a 2-0 sweep for EMBLEM in their matches tonight. What does that mean for their matches next week?
FM Young Vs. Outlaw
Scott Parker: Here we go, folks. It’s time for the main event and it’s a good one. FM Young has returned to Empire Wrestling and we’re about to see what she can do after her absence and injury.
Outlaw came out to the stage first and unzipped his leather jacket. He started to walk down the ramp and stopped before making his way over to the camera. He gave it a smile and pointed to the empty seats and told everyone he couldn’t wait to see them back in the Warehouse. He then made his way over to Scott Parker and Gemma Foster and put his jacket on the table before rolling into the ring. He seemed more fired up than usual as he moved around the ring.
Scott Parker: Outlaw knows he needs to impress here tonight if he’s to get another shot at Ben Macbeth.
Gemma Foster: Scott, FM is not going to make that easy on him. She’s been training hard for her return and is in the best shape of her life.
“Helix” by Amaranthe started to play and FM Young walked out to her new music and new video playing behind her. She threw a few punches before taking a big stomp at the top of the ramp and made her way down to the ring with a big smile.
Gemma Foster: Look at her, Scott! FM took her training seriously and is ready for a fight tonight.
Scott Parker: But how will the ring rust hit her, Gemma?
Young climbed into the ring and stretched on the rope near the corner and came out a few steps as the bell sounded. Outlaw walked up to her with his hands down and offered a handshake as he welcomed her back. She accepted and the two started to circle each other.
Gemma Foster: A nice show of respect as Outlaw welcomes FM back.
The two reached up for a test of strength and Outlaw wrenched the hands of FM down and then pulled her into a headlock. She pushed him off and he hit the ropes but came right back with a shoulder tackle. Young smiled and popped up to her feet and brushed herself off. Outlaw gave her a nod and the two locked back up. Outlaw tried to send Young into the ropes but she countered and pulled him in with a jumping knee strike to the face. She lifted him up and brought Outlaw straight down onto the mat with a spinebuster. Young rolled Outlaw into a cover and got one before the kickout. She kept up the attack as she landed strikes to a downed Outlaw. After a few blows she pulled him up to his feet and sent Outlaw into the ropes. He ducked a back elbow and kept running the ropes. He came back on the return and rocked Young with a big spear. Both competitors got to their feet and Outlaw flipped Young around and hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.
Scott Parker: Outlaw might have a slight step on FM but she definitely knocked off a good amount of ring rust before coming back tonight.
Young grabbed her back as she stood and ducked as Outlaw came off the second turnbuckle with a diving clothesline. He stood and turned right into Young’s Man-Machine Interface (Discus Clothesline) as she flipped him around. Young covered and got a two count before Outlaw kicked out. Outlaw was able to get to his feet and popped Young with an uppercut. She tried to come back with a forearm but he caught it and wrapped her up before hitting her with a straight jacket lungblower.
Gemma Foster: Outlaw focusing on the back on FM and just took the air right out of her lungs.
Young took a big gasp as she started to move towards the ropes. Outlaw grabbed her by the legs and pulled her to the center of the ring before flipping her into a Texas cloverleaf!
Scott Parker: Outlaw has it locked in tight and is putting pressure on the knees and back of FM Young.
Outlaw yelled at FM to tap but she refused as the referee checked on her. She pushed up with her arm strength and crawled herself to the ropes and was able to force a break. Outlaw released the hold as Young rolled out of the ring. Outlaw ran towards the corner and looked for Flying High (Springboard triangle plancha to the outside) but Young side stepped him and he crashed to the floor. He rolled to his feet and turned to Young and she dropped him on the floor with an ace cutter! Young rolled into the ring as the referee started the ten count. Outlaw was to his feet and in the ring at six. Outlaw was to his feet and Young sent him into the ropes. He countered and dropped her with Unlawful (Tilt-a-Whirl DDT)! Outlaw rolled her into a cover and hooked a leg and FM kicked out just before three!
Gemma Foster: Outlaw almost able to put away FM in her return but she’s able to power out!
Outlaw couldn’t believe it and thought of his next step. He started to pull Young up to her feet and she was able to push Outlaw off. She looked for Man-Machine Interface but he ducked and she took out the referee! Outlaw looked for another Unlawful but this time Young countered into the Human Error Processor (Assault Driver)! She started to shake the referee to get him to come to. She covered as the referee got into position and started to make the count but was stopped at two as he was pulled out of the ring by Daniel Daemon’s Kingsmen, Junji Buranku!
Scott Parker: The Kingsmen, Junji Buranku and Mr Fixit are here! And look, there’s Daniel Daemon at the top of the ramp!
The Kingsmen jumped into the ring and targeted Outlaw and Young. Junji saw Outlaw start to get up and hit him with the Deceptive Sorcerer (Junji sets up for a Shining Wizard but hops over the opponent right before hitting them and nails a back kick to the back of their head). Mr Fixit lifted Young into an electric chair drop and Junji went to the top rope. The Kingsmen hit Young with the Clearing His Throne (Shining Wizard variant of Doomsday Device. Electric Chair(Fixit)/Shining Wizard from top rope [Jinji]).
Gemma Foster: And The Kingsmen have taken out both Outlaw and FM Young!
Scott Parker: Clearly sending a message to anyone that doesn’t bow to the “Emperor” that they will be dealt with.
Junji and Fixit left the ring and rejoined their Emperor as the trio left. The referee was back in the ring, missing the action moments earlier. Outlaw and FM were both down and the referee had no choice but to start a ten count. Neither competitor could make it to their feet in time and the referee called for the bell.
The bell rang as Young and Outlaw were both starting to get up but couldn’t stand before the bell. Young fell into the ropes and looked around.
Scott Parker: The Emperor and the Kingsmen not even sticking around to show off their handy work.
Young shook her head and was clearly frustrated as Outlaw stood. They booth looked up at the ramp and then back to each other.
Gemma Foster: What a sour way to end this match. These two were putting on an instant classic and it was ruined in a moment.
The show went off-air as Young leaned on the ropes, looking up the ramp as if to stare a hole in Daemon backstage.
