Episode #41 - June 5, 2020
Scott Parker: Welcome to Empire Wrestling’s Hype! This is episode 41 and we’re 3 weeks away from Next Level: Victorem. Tonight, we find out the first two competitors for the Victorem Ladder Match.
Gemma Foster: We all saw what winning that contract last year did for Lacy Nelson. She turned that one victory into a World Championship.
Scott Parker: It’s a huge opportunity and 6 superstars will look to climb that ladder to retrieve that briefcase. Who will get their chance tonight? Let’s find out the first competitor now!
Victorem Qualifier
FM Young Vs. Karli Frost
"Helix" by Amaranthe started to play and out ran FM Young to kick off the show. She fixed her gloves at the top of the ramp and threw a couple punches towards the camera and smiled. She pounded her chest twice as she made her way down to the ring and jumped onto the apron. Young took a moment before climbing into the ring and then jumped to the second turnbuckle near the ramp.
Scott Parker: FM is excited to be here tonight and probably even more excited for this opportunity.
Gemma Foster: FM with a win last week against Kayla Taylor and we saw Marilyn Lee Cross debut to help watch her back afterwards. FM has been talking all week long about how big of a match this is for her and she’s said that she’s gunning for that briefcase.
Karli Frost came out next and stared down to the ring.
Scott Parker: This is not the first time these two have crossed paths and they’re ready to fight.
Frost marched her way down to the ring quickly and climbed up using the stairs. The bell sounded and the two quickly locked up. Young opened up with a hard chop to the chest and then a hard uppercut. Frost dropped Young with a hard clothesline and hit the ropes. She jumped over Young as she rolled at her and kept moving on the ropes. Young popped up and caught Frost as she looked for a crossbody and slammed her down with a powerslam. They both climbed to their feet and Young ducked under Frost and hit a dragon suplex. Young popped up quickly and pulled Frost up. Frost had to block an incoming kick and then speared Young into the corner. Frost grabbed Young by the hair and took her down with a hairmare. Young climbed up to her feet and Frost delivered a kick to the gut before pulling her in and hitting the Aphrodisiac (Northern Lights Bomb). Frost rolled into a cover with the hook of a leg and Young kicked out just at two.
Gemma Foster: Just barely two. FM has a lot of fight left in her!
Young powered herself up to her feet and Frost looked for a headscissors takedown but Young planted her feet and lifted Frost into a powerbomb position. Young delivered a bucklebomb that made Frost stagger out of the corner. Young hit the ropes and then hit a jumping knee strike to the face. Frost fell backwards into the ropes and came off them and was rocked inside out with the Man-Machine Interface (Discus Clothesline). Young hooked a leg and went into a cover and Frost kicked out at two. Young was fired up and was practically bouncing.
Scott Parker: I think FM feels the end is near.
Frost reached up and tried to pull Young into a small package and Young kicked out a little after one. Frost dug deep and ran to the corner and jumped to the second ropes. She dove and looked for a diving clothesline but Young rolled forward and dodged. Young popped up and grabbed Frost from behind and hit the Heart of a Phoenix (Lumbar Check). She rolled Frost into a cover and picked up the win.
Scott Parker: FM is in the Victorem Ladder Match!
Young jumped to her feet and threw her fist in the air in celebration. She jumped up to the turnbuckle and pointed up to the rafters.
Gemma Foster: She’s ready!
The Crew [Jack and Josh Williams] Vs. The Kingsmen [ Junji Buranku/Mr. Fixit]
The Crew, Jack and Josh Williams, made their way out to the stage first. The bumped fist on the ramp and then posed for a few moments. They rolled into the ring and before they could move the lights went out. “Face Fisted” by Dethklok kicked up and red lights started to flash. The demonic skull mask of Junji is the first thing we see as the lights start to brighten and Mr. Fixit standing at his side. The mask comes off and the two start to slowly make their way to the ring. The music stopped and the lights went out once again.
Gemma Foster: The Kingsmen making their in-ring debut here and they’re playing some mind games with the Crew.
When the lights came back up, the Kingsmen were in the ring. Josh Williams charged at Junji and ran right into Mr Fixit stepping in and lifting him above his head and then dropping him with the Welcome to Doncaster (Military Press Samoan Drop). Jack turned to Mr Fixit and Junji hit the ropes and lined up Jack and hit the Akuma Buster (Leapfrog Facebuster).
Scott Parker: The Kingsmen catching the Crew off guard.
Jack rolled out of the ring and Mr Fixit dropped him with a clothesline. Jack started to sit up but was kicked by Junji with the Deceptive Sorcerer (Junji sets up for a Shining Wizard but hops over the opponent right before hitting them and nails a back kick to the back of their head). Junji quickly pulled Jack to his feet and delivered the Jigoku ni Iku (Argentine backbreaker rack dropped into a knee lift to the back of the opponent's head). Josh jumped into the ring off the top rope and hit Mr Fixit with a knee to the face. Josh ran the ropes and looked for a tornado DDT on Mr Fixit and planted him on the mat. Josh hit Junji as he charged at him with a drop toe hold. Josh looked for a shining wizard but Junji ducked it and Josh ran into the Fixed (Powerful Haymaker Punch) from Mr Fixit.
Gemma Foster: Josh with what was the beginnings of a comeback and it was quickly snuffed out.
Junji was on the top rope and Mr Fixit lifted Josh and the duo hit him with Clearing His Throne (Shining Wizard variant of Doomsday Device. Electric Chair(Fixit)/Shining Wizard from top rope[Junji]). Junji rolled Josh into a cover and the referee made the count for the win.
The Kingsmen stood over Josh Williams as Daniel Daemon walked out onto the stage and slowly clapped. They both turned towards him and took a knee and had their heads down. They rolled out of the ring and approached Daemon and took another knee.
Gemma Foster: So do you think the Kingsmen are brainwashed or just insane?
Scott Parker: No comment.
Alicia Monroe Vs. Austin Scott
Austin Scott stormed his way down to the ring and started to tear apart the announce desk.
Scott Parker: Look out, Gemma. Austin Scott is on a warpath tonight.
He grabbed a water bottle and chucked it before rolling into the ring. Alicia Monroe stepped out onto the stage with a confused look on her face as she saw the water bottle at her feet. She shrugged and kicked it to the side as Casey Grey walked out behind her with a big smile.
Gemma Foster: Hey! Casey Grey is out of her brace and is walking on her own.
Scott Parker: That’s great news, Gemma. I’m sure Hell’s Belles are eager to get back into the ring and take a run at the new Tag Team Champions.
Casey Grey gave Monroe a pat on the back as she stretched on the top of the ramp before making her way down. She climbed into the ring as Grey walked around the ring. The bell sounded as Scott attacked right away and looked for his Straight Whiskey (Running lariat) but Monroe ducked it. She hit the ropes and met Scott with a single leg dropkick. They both rolled to their feet and Monroe hit Scott with a knee to the gut and then took him to the mat with a swinging neckbreaker. Monroe pulled Scott to his feet and started to set him up for the Freebird (Running Bulldog) but Scott pushed her away as she jumped and she went hard into the turnbuckle. Scott grabbed Monroe and hit the Full Throttle (Inverted Overdrive). He rolled her into a cover as Grey pounded on the mat and Monroe kicked out just before two.
Scott Parker: Austin Scott started to get control of the match.
Scott quickly started to hammer Monroe with right hands on the mat and pulled her up to her feet. He lifted her up quickly and wanted to end it with the Ace in the Hole (Rikishi Driver) but she slipped behind him. Monroe grabbed Scott and hit Freebird. She ran at the ropes and hit a springboard moonsault and covered and got two before Scott kicked out. Monroe rolled to her feet as Scott started to climb up. He looked for a discus lariat but Monroe ducked it and jumped up and hit a neckbreaker. She ran to the corner and measured where Scott was before jumping up, flipping back, and hitting the White Lightning (Moonsault). She covered and picked up the three count win.
Family Ties
Casey climbs into the ring after the match is over. She celebrates with Alicia for a moment before speaking.
Casey Grey: Wow, I am actually impressed with how you pulled off this win tonight. Maybe you’re finally starting to focus and get real about this business, and I'm certainly proud of you.
Alicia seems pleased with Casey’s assessment.
Casey Grey: But I needed to talk to you about something. I got this text from Rune this week. It was weird and out of the blue, but she--
Alicia Monroe: She's a liar. She's the damn devil and you should just ignore her.
Casey Grey: But there's a problem. She--
Alicia Monroe: Oh, god, Casey. Just forget about her. Everything she said about your mom adopting you is just garbage. She's trying to drive a wedge between us, Casey. Just like before. If you can't see that she's a liar by now with everything she's done to us I...honestly don't know what to say.
Casey looks a little annoyed at being cut off twice but she just shrugs.
Casey Grey: You know, you're right. She's a liar. She's incapable of having any sense of integrity or honesty. I don't know why I think about her at all.
Alicia hugs Casey. Casey pats Alicia on the back, but doesn't really return the hug.
Casey Grey: She’s a liar. Everyone lies. Even you and our mom.
Casey T-bones Alicia into the center of the ring. When Alicia gets to her feet, Casey is waiting and smashes her in the face with a Breath Mint (forearm smash). Alicia goes down hard. Casey stands over Alicia for a moment without doing anything, then pulls a piece of paper out of her top.
Casey Grey: This…was uncomfortable. Hey, Alicia, did you know that I can't get my original birth certificate without a court order? I called this week and asked for it because Rune suggested it. She's not lying, Alicia!
Casey drops the paper. Alicia starts to sit up but Casey stomps her in the gut. Alicia is down on the mat again, and the referee tries to restrain Casey but is shoved out of the way.
Casey Grey: Rune isn't the liar! You are! Our whole family is. You get mad at me about secrets and you've known this your whole life and never mentioned it? I'll...
Casey begins choking Alicia. After several seconds the referee manages to pull her off. Casey backs away to the other side of the ring. Alicia is holding her neck and struggling to her feet.
Alicia Monroe: Casey—
Casey Grey: Fuck off. Stay away from me, sis.
Victorem Qualifier
Brighton Fischer Vs. Outlaw
Scott Parker: This is an interesting match tonight as both of these competitors came SO close to capturing gold last week on Hype. Brighton with a hard fought match with Lacy Nelson for the World Championship and Outlaw, who may have had the Primetime Championship won if it weren’t for Midnight Special, against Ben Macbeth.
Outlaw was standing in the ring already and running the ropes and stretching. The lights in the arena flash from red to blue, in sync with the opening guitar riff of "Help Me" which is reminiscent of a siren. Shortly after the full band enters, Brighton Fischer makes her way onto the stage. She raises both fists into the air. With her right hand she rips off her Grrrls neoprene mask and then puts it back up. While keeping her right fist raised, she reaches her left hand toward her waistband where she pulls her mouthguard and inserts it into her mouth. The lights stop alternating and remain crimson in color for the duration of the entrance. With her right fist still high, she begins to make her way down the ramp. She slid into the ring and we were ready for the match. The two locked up to start things off and Outlaw opened by grounding Fischer with an arm drag. He looked for an armbar but she was able to slip away. She charged and Outlaw caught her with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker onto his knee. Outlaw grabbed at his knee and rolled away from Fischer.
Gemma Foster: Did Outlaw just tweak his knee?
Outlaw got to his feet and Fischer was there and sent him into a corner and charged after him. He leaned on the top and pushed off and landed behind Fischer but hopped away on one knee. Fischer grabbed him from behind and hit him with a ripcord knee strike and then hit the ropes before coming back with a bicycle knee strike. Fischer locked in a single leg crab and Outlaw immediately tapped.
Scott Parker: And with that, Brighton Fischer is going to Next Level: Victorem and will have a huge opportunity.
Gemma Foster: Yeah but I think Outlaw is hurt.
Fischer celebrated in the ring as the referee checked on Outlaw and a couple trainers came out to help him to the back as he didn’t put any pressure on his right leg.
Gemma Foster: Hopefully it’s nothing too serious.
AJ Adams Vs. Luke Mathews
Luke Mathews made his way out to the ring first, wearing a OGNFG shirt and the Tag Team Championship around his waist.
Scott Parker: Luke and Dave Blazenwing were able to win the Tag Team Championship last week and it means a lot to them both to once again be wearing gold.
Mathews hit the apron and climbed into the ring as he took off his shirt and tossed it into the empty seats. He handed off the championship as “Lights Out” by POD hit. A few moments later out came, slowly, AJ Adams. He had his head down as he took a knee and took a moment to soak everything in. He jumped up and threw his arms out and pointed down to the ring. He looked around and gave a nod before heading down to the ring.
Gemma Foster: This will be a good measure of how much rust AJ has. It’s been 5 months since he’s been able to compete and he says he’s more than ready.
Adams pulled himself up onto the apron with the ropes and climbed inside before taking a moment to jump on a turnbuckle. He came back down and stretched on the top rope and the bell rang. The two men circled each other and Adams walked up to Mathews and asked for a chop.
Scott Parker: AJ is… asking Luke Mathews to chop him.
Mathews smirked and readied himself before giving Adams an echoing chop to the chest. Adams grimaced and then rubbed his chest before starting to smile. Adams returned the chop but Mathews came right back with another hard chop. Then a third which made Adams follow up with a chop. Adams then threw a hard right hand that dropped Mathews but he rolled right to his feet. Mathews hit Adams with an uppercut before sending him into the corner. Mathews charged and ran into a big boot to the face. Adams grabbed Mathews and looked for a bulldog but Mathews sent him into the ropes and hit him with a shoulder block. Adams hit the mat and rolled to his feet. Adams had to duck a discus elbow to the face which he countered with a belly to back suplex. Adams climbed up and hit the ropes and delivered a running senton. He tried to lock in a sleeper hold but Mathews was able to get to his feet. He pushed Adams off and hit him with a back elbow to the jaw. Mathews grabbed Adams by the throat and looked for the Chokebuster (Chokeslam lift to kneeling spinebuster) but Adams countered into a small package for a brief two count.
Gemma Foster: Adams looking good in his return but the cardio is going to hit him like a brick wall.
Both men got to their feet and Adams looked for the Eat It (Fame-Asser) but Mathews moved out of the way and delivered a big German suplex. Adams stumbled to his feet and Mathews pulled him in and hit a northern lights suplex and turned it into the Northern Trio (Three consecutive Northern Lights Suplexes) and bridged into a pin, getting two. Adams was able to kick out but was disorientaed when he got to his feet. Mathews hit the ropes and rocked Adams with the Tower of Power (Clothesline From Hell). Mathews took a few steps back and circled around Adams as he slowly stood and charged in for the NFG [No Fucks Given] (Yakuza Kick to the BACK of the head) but Adams had it scouted and ducked, countering into the Last Call (Codebreaker) when Mathews turned back around. Adams covered Mathews and got a two count before Mathews kicked out.
Scott Parker: A well scouted move there by AJ Adams but Luke Mathews is still in this thing.
Mathews was pulled to his feet but Adams and sent into the corner. Adams hit a big corner splash on Mathews and then hit the ropes but ran into a big boot as Mathews stepped out of the corner.
Gemma Foster: Stopped in his tracks!
Mathews hit the ropes and looked for a running leg drop and Adams moved out of the way. Adams rolled up to his feet and hit Mathews with a sling blade as he stood. Adams pulled Mathews up to his feet and pulled him into position and delivered the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail). Adams rolled onto Mathews and picked up the pinfall.
Scott Parker: A big return win for AJ Adams!
Adams sat on his knees and put his arms out for a moment before bringing them into his chest. He gave Mathews a pat on the chest before standing up and looking up to the ramp. He jumped to the second ropes and balanced himself as he started to motion around his waist as the camera came around.
AJ Adams: Macbeth, I’m coming. It’s last call, bitch.
Gemma Foster: AJ sending a message to Ben Macbeth.
The show closed on Adams helping Mathews up and the two shaking hands before Adams celebrated as his music played.
