Episode #42 - June 12, 2020
Scott Parker: Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Hype! We’re just weeks away from Next Level: Victorem and tonight we’ll learn who the next two competitors are in the Victorem Ladder Match. We already know that FM Young and Brighton Fischer are in the match and just those two alone it should be an exciting match.
Gemma Foster: I know I’m excited to see who else joins them over the next two weeks. I’m also excited to see our World Champion, Lacy Nelson, compete tonight against Jason Evans. We’re just two weeks away from Next Level: Victorem and we don’t know who will be challenging for the World Championship.
Scott Parker: We saw Lacy defend successfully a couple of weeks ago against Brighton Fischer.
Victorem Qualifier
Harper Blake Vs. Gio DeLuca
Gio DeLuca: This is it, yo.
Parker is cut off as Gio DeLuca walked out onto the stage with a microphone in hand. Ready to spread his gospel as he made his way down to the ring.
Gio DeLuca: This is the opportunity that I’ve been needin’. Tonight I come in here and I beat Miss Nobody. Tonight is the night I move on ta Next Level.
DeLuca had made his way into the ring and rolled in under the ropes. He popped up to his feet and turned to the stage.
Gio DeLuca: So get on out here and let’s dance.
As DeLuca kept his eyes fixed on the stage he was attacked from behind by Harper Blake. Blake pushed DeLuca into the corner and the bell sounded to start the match. She unloaded with hard forearms to the face before sending him into the opposite corner. She charged and hit DeLuca with a spear and slipped to the outside at the same time. She jumped up to the top rope and DeLuca staggered out of the corner. DeLuca turned around and was taken down with a hurricanrana. Blake jumped up to her feet and DeLuca rolled to his knees. Blake charged and rocked him with a shining wizard.
Scott Parker: Harper Blake is taking it to Gio!
Blake rolled DeLuca into a cover for two before he kicked out. She pulled him up and looked for a short arm clothesline that he was able to duck and countered into a blue thunder bomb. DeLuca climbed to his feet as Blake climbed to hers soon after. They charged at each other and he caught her with a sling blade. DeLuca looked to the turnbuckles and started to climb up slowly. He readied himself and looked for a double foot stomp but Blake rolled out of the way. She rolled to her feet and hit DeLuca with a spear. She popped back up, fired up, and pulled DeLuca up. She lifted him up and hit a falcon arrow and covered, picking up a win.
Gemma Foster: Looks like Harper Blake had something to say, Scott. She’s going to Next Level: Victorem.
Blake walked over DeLuca on her way out of the ring as he sat up and looked around, dumbfounded.
Ragnarok (Fenryr Wulfsson/Karli Frost) Vs. Grrrls (Bailey Mayhew/Caitlin Shay)
It was time for our next match as Ragnarok came down to the ring first with Rune behind them. The trio posed at the top of the ramp and Rune said a few words to them before heading to the back.
Scott Parker: Rune probably wanting to stay away from ringside as who knows what might happen if Casey Grey or Alicia Monroe get their hands on her.
Gemma Foster: It’s definitely an interesting situation that Casey has found herself in. Rune spilled the beans that Casey and Alicia are actually sisters. I think a lot of us thought that Rune was just lying to get in the head of Casey, but Casey says it is in fact true. She’s had a rough week but attacking Alicia like that?
Fenryr and Frost were in the ring as “Shitlist” by L7 started to play and out walked all four members of Grrrls. Zoey Mathews-Mitchell had the Extreme Championship around her waist as she stood to the far left, then Mayhew, Shay, and Fischer left to right.
Gemma Foster: What a foursome. These ladies easily could be running the show from top to bottom. We’ve seen that they’re all more than capable and it’s only the beginning for them.
They all removed their neoprene masks and huddled up. Shay and Mayhew started their way down to the ring as Zo and Fischer went back to the back. Shay and Mayhew jumped up to the apron and knocked forearms before climbing into the ring. They each jumped into the nearest corner, one on each side of the post, and posed on the second rope. They climbed down and turned, ready for the match. Frost and Shay were going to kick things off for us as the bell sounded. Shay went to lock up with Frost but Frost hit her with a hard back elbow to the face. Frost looked for a Russian leg sweep but Shay countered into a small package for a quick one count. Both popped up to their feet and Shay hit Frost with a swinging neckbreaker. Shay made a tag to Mayhew and the duo pulled Frost to her feet. Frost was sent into the ropes and came back with a double diving clothesline. Frost stomped on Mayhew and then made a tag to Fenryr.
Scott Parker: Here comes the big guy.
Mayhew got to her feet and was speared inside out by Fenryr. He jumped back up and pulled Mayhew to her feet. He pulled her into position for a powerbomb and she was able to counter into a headscissors takedown. They both climbed to their feet as Mayhew fell into her corner. Fenryr charged and ran into a big boot and Shay tagged herself in. Shay jumped to the top rope and took Fenryr down with a crossbody splash and then Mayhew hit a running senton as Shay rolled off him. Shay dove onto Fenryr for a cover and he powered her off at two. He climbed to his feet and she looked for running crossbody but Fenryr countered into a powerslam. Fenryr pulled Shay up to her feet and delivered a release German suplex. Shay went flying across the ring near the Ragnarok corner which allowed Fenryr to make a tag.
Gemma Foster: Evenly matched here so far, Scott.
Fenryr lifted Shay up in a gorilla press and Frost came off the top rope with the Hookup (Flying Neckbreaker). Frost rolled Shay into a cover and Mayhew broke it up at two. She went back to her corner quickly and Frost started to mouth off to her. Frost walked up to Mayhew and the two started to argue. Frost turned and pulled Shay up to her feet by her hair and pointed at Mayhew and then rocked Shay with a clothesline. Shay climbed to her feet and Frost sent her into the ropes and looked for a tilt-a-whirl and Shay countered into a DDT! Both were down and slowly crawled to their corners.
Scott Parker: This is a big moment right here, Gemma. Who’s going to get to their corner first?
Shay grabbed Frost by the foot and pulled her away from the corner and scooted towards her own. Mayhew reached out and made a tag as Shay held onto the foot of Frost. Mayhew jumped into the ring and ran to Fenryr and hit him with a forearm to the face that knocked him to the floor. Mayhew turned to Shay who was up, charging, and hit her with a dropkick. Shay hit Forst with a leg sweep as she stood and the two hit Version 3 (Leg Sweep [Any] + Hurricane Bailey [Bailey])! Fenryr started to climb to the apron and Shay charged and flipped over the top and took him out! They both landed on the floor and Mayhew rolled Frost into a cover, picking up the win.
Scott Parker: The Grrrls win!
Mayhew rolled out of the ring and was met with a hug from Shay as the two spun away and moved away from Fenryr who quickly approached. He started to dismantle the announce table and climbed into the ring and checked on Frost.
Victorem Qualifier
Kayla Taylor Vs. Marilyn Lee Cross
Kayla Taylor wade her way out first and tugged on the top of her knee pad. She jogged down the ramp and rolled in under the bottom ropes.
Gemma Foster: I haven’t been able to find out much about the relationship between Kayla and Harper Blake but we did see Harper help Kayla a couple weeks ago. They’ve kept things pretty hush backstage.
“Hallelujah” by Panic at the Disco started to play as Cross bounced out onto the stage. She took a deep breath and moved around on the top of the ramp. She couldn’t help but hold back a smile on her face as she started to make her way down.
Scott Parker: This is a big moment for Marilyn as she’s taking on a former Tag Team Champion and the winner of this match is going to be competing for that Victorem contract.
Cross climbed into the ring and threw her hands up and leaned over the top ropes and smiled at the camera. She turned to Taylor who quickly attacked!
Gemma Foster: Taylor trying to get the jump on Marilyn.
Taylor landed hard blows on Cross and then pulled her in for a belly to belly slam but Cross hit her with a headbutt and slipped away and got behind Taylor. Cross jumped up and hit a poisonrana that spiked Taylor on the mat. She sat on her knees and Cross hit her with a basement superkick. Cross went into a cover and just barely got two as Taylor kicked out. Taylor climbed to her feet and hit Cross with a forearm to the face. Taylor lifted Cross up and hit a backbreaker that she then turned into a fallaway slam. Taylor kipped up to her feet and leaned onto the ropes. Cross rolled to her feet and the two charged each other and met with hard lefts and rights. Cross hit a chop to the chest and then a vicious palm strike before then delivering the Hand of God (Spinning backfist). Taylor fell to a knee and Cross hit the ropes before delivering the Knee Harvey Oswald (Running Knee to the side of an opponent's head). Cross pulled Taylor into a cover and got another two before Taylor kicked out.
Scott Parker: That was a vicious knee to the head. I can’t believe Kayla kicked out.
Cross started to pull Taylor to her feet but Kayla pulled her down into a small package for two. They both popped back up and Taylor pulled Cross in and hit the Merry Go Round (Spin Fisherman Suplex). Taylor covered and got a two count before Cross kicked out.
Gemma Foster: Kayla starting to feel it right now.
She pulled Cross up to her feet and sent her hard into the corner. Taylor followed but Cross lifted herself up and over Taylor who crashed into the corner. Cross turned as Taylor came out of the corner and hit her with the Mary Go Round (Discus Big Boot)!
Scott Parker: Two Merry/Mary Go Rounds and two very different moves!
Taylor staggered up to her feet and Cross hit the ropes and dropped her with the John Wilkes Boot (Running Yakuza Kick to the back of the head). Cross rolled Taylor over and covered her, picking up the win.
Gemma Foster: Cross does it again and is heading to Next Level!
Cross pumped her fist in the air and celebrated as Taylor started to come to. She rolled out of the ring and gave a thumbs up to the camera with a smile before heading to the back.
Who’s Next?
“Come and Get It” by I Prevail started to play and out walked the World Champion, Lacy Nelson. She opened her leather “L2N” jacket and showed off the championship belt around her waist. She was ready for the main event as she started to make her way down the ramp and tossed off her hat. She rolled into the ring and jumped up as she flipped her hair back. She threw a fist up and jumped onto the second rope and balanced herself as she took off the title and held it up. She jumped on the rope for a moment and spun around and planted on the mat. She leaned through the ropes and asked for a microphone.
Gemma Foster: Looks like the champion has something to say!
Nelson had the championship on her shoulder and looked at it with a smile. She looked over to the camera and started to speak.
Lacy Nelson: We are just two weeks away from Next Level and we’re starting to see who will compete in a ladder match that could change their career. It did mine last year when I won it. Two weeks ago I came to this ring and defended the World Championship successfully against Brighton Fischer. So now questions are starting to stir at who is next in line and I think there’s a lot of interesting challengers back there.
There was a short pause as she looked down as if she were thinking.
Lacy Nelson: So who is it going to be?
She looked up with a fierce look in her eyes.
Lacy Nelson: There’s all these teams starting to form in the back and I’m standing out here all alone, ready to fight. Austin Scott? Dave? What about Casey Grey? Yeah, I do think you’re a joke, Casey. You used to RUN the Primetime Championship scene and now you’re too focused on family matters. What about old man Outlaw? Adams?
The lights went red and a loud static filled the Warehouse. The static stopped and “Belial, Behemoth, Beelzebu” rang out as “Year Zero” by Ghost started to play.
Gemma Foster: Daniel Daemon!
Nelson dropped the microphone and quickly turned to the ramp and waited for Daemon to make his way out to the stage. The lights flickered and went out as the music cut out. They came back up and Junji Buranku and Mr Fixit were in the ring and attacking Nelson! Daemon stood at the bottom of the ramp as his royal guard landed blow after blow on Nelson. Mr Fixit sent her into the ropes and looked for his Fixed (Haymaker) but she ducked it and rocked Junji with a superkick!
Scott Parker: It’s Daemon and the Kingsmen! Lacy is trying to fend them off though!
She turned to Mr Fixit who dropped her with Welcome to Doncaster (Military Press Samoan Drop). Daemon climbed onto the apron as Nelson started to stagger to her feet. She hit Mr Fixit with a superkick! She turned to Daemon who grabbed her by the throat and delivered a chokeslam. He removed his suit jacket and unbuttoned the cuffs, rolling up his sleeves. Junji hit Nelson with a hard kick to the back as she sat up. He pulled her up and Mr Fixit lifted her up on his shoulders as Junji went to the top ropes, the duo hitting the Clearing His Throne (Shining Wizard variant of Doomsday Device. Electric Chair(Fixit)/Shining Wizard from top rope(Junji). Daemon had taken off his tie and tossed it and stood over Nelson.
Gemma Foster: Come on. This is enough! Someone get out here and stop this!
Mr. Fixit rolled out of the ring and quickly went under the apron and pulled out a table before sliding it into the ring. Junji started to set it up and Mr Fixit helped finish it as he got back in. The two pulled Nelson up by her hair as she was out. The Kingsmen left their heads down as if to offer Nelson as a sacrifice. They lifted her up, onto the shoulders of Daemon, and the trio hit the Royal Execution (Triple Powerbomb), through the table. Nelson crumbled through the table and was left laying in the mess. Daemon was presented the World Championship from his guard and he held it tightly in his hands before raising it slowly.
Scott Parker: I think Daemon just told Lacy that he is next.
Gemma Foster: I think Daemon can go to-
Scott Parker: The Emperor of Empire making a statement here tonight.
Daemon dropped the championship onto Nelson as the lights started to flash red as “Year Zero” started to play again and we went off-air.
