Episode #45 - July 10, 2020
Scott Parker: Hello everyone and welcome to a special night of Hype. Tomorrow is the two year anniversary since Empire Wrestling aired the return show and we’re happy to have you all here. There won’t be any special looks back at the past to years because tonight is all about the current stars and we’re packed full of action. We have SEVEN confirmed matches and possibly an eighth as we’re supposed to see Lacy Nelson in action in an open challenge but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Gemma Foster: So many matches, Scott! Plus, we have THREE big debuts tonight. We saw Sara Logan court Ursula Von Rossbach and she’s set to make her debut tonight against Austin Scott in what should be a hard hitting bout. Toss in the debuts of Angel Kash and Mary Mallon and the roster is stacked right now. This might be the most impressive the roster has ever looked.
Scott Parker: And that’s evident in the Warfare Series that started last week. To recap, both EMBLEM and the Old Guard are tied at 7 points and just behind them are the Kingsmen with 3 points. Then we have The Crew way behind with -10 points after the DQ loss they had last week. After tonight every team involved will have had at least one match in the series. Also, the top six teams will compete in an elimination chamber match at Warfare on August 14th!
Warfare Series
The Grrrls (Fischer/Mayhew) Vs. Kayla Taylor & Harper Blake
Scott Parker: Looks like we’re getting the pairing of Mayhew and Fischer here tonight representing the Grrrls.
The duo made their way to the ring quickly as they were ready to kick things off. It didn’t take them long to get to the ring and climb inside. They removed their neoprene masks and tossed them to the side.
Gemma Foster: Fun fact, Scott. The first superstar to appear on Hype #1? Bailey Mayhew strolled up to the Warehouse with a Slushie. Even more fun fact! Both Bailey and Kayla Taylor competed on the first show in EW history back in 2015 on Animosity!
Taylor and Blake stepped out next and marched down to the ring and jumped inside. The two teams shared a few words and Blake put her hand in the face of Mayhew. Mayhew pushed back and the referee got between the two teams and got them to their corners.
Scott Parker: This is the second match for Taylor and Blake in the Warfare Series and losing would put them in a whole when it comes to the standings. Remember, each team is only being booked in five matches.
Blake was ready to start things off and Fischer told Mayhew she’d start things off. Fischer and Mayhew worked great as a team, despite this being their first official teaming in a match. Fischer quickly got the upper hand on Blake and they used that to keep Blake isolated with quick tags. They worked over Blake and Mayhew looked to end it with Brain Damage (Chris Hero's Death Blow) and a cover but Taylor broke it up. Mayhew and Fischer slipped up when they wanted to hit Into the Sunset (Bailey) + Gone Fischin’ (Brighton). Taylor pushed Fischer off the top rope and Mayhew missed the stomp off the top. This allowed Blake to make a tag and Taylor hit Plan A (Shining Wizard) on Mayhew. She looked for a cover but Fischer pulled her out of the ring. Fischer hit Taylor with a spinning back elbow on the outside and then rolled her into the ring.
Gemma Foster: Big opening here for Grrrls.
Blake jumped to the outside and started to brawl with Fischer. Taylor slowly got to her feet and Mayhew caught her with the Lockjaw (Osaka Stunner). She covered and picked up the pinfall before Blake could break it up.
WINNERS: The Grrrls (Mayhew/Fischer)
Scott Parker: And the Grrrls pick up a win in the Warfare Series!
Fischer and Mayhew hug in the middle of the ring before rolling out. Blake stuck her body out of the middle and top ropes and wanted to keep fighting.
Gemma Foster: There’s a lot of spunk in Harper Blake!
Warfare Series
The Haters (DeLuca/Salvatore) Vs. Old Guard (Blazenwing/Mathews)
The Old Guard came out first with the Tag Team Championships on their shoulders. They posed with them at the top of the ramp and then made their way down to the ring.
Scott Parker: Old Guard at 43 days as champions have a long way to go if they want to tie the longest reign in EW history. They took the championships away from Midnight Special and have looked really good as a team.
Gemma Foster: I’m almost surprised to be honest, Scott. Dave on his 6th reign as a Tag Team Champion in his career and he’s had some great partners but he and Luke just seem to be clicking on all cylinders. Maybe it has to do with Lukle having TEN reigns as a Tag Team Champion. He just gets what it takes to be a good tag team.
Gio DeLuca: Look at these old farts, Dom.
Out walked Gio and Dominic.
Gio DeLuca: Last week my boy, big Dom, came back and was ready to tango. See, he likes to dance. This week though he’s got on his ass-kickin’ shoes. With Dom back the Haters are going to walk all over this Warfare Series.
DeLuca and Salvatore entered the ring and a brawl quickly broke out. Salvatore hit Mathews with a big boot and then clotheslined Blazenwing over the top rope. He lifted DeLuca into a gorilla press and tossed him outside onto the Old Guard. DeLuca got to his feet and rolled Mathews into the ring and Salvatore tried to quickly cover but only got one. Salvatore tried to keep the pressure on Mathews with hard strikes and slams but the veteran started to mount some offense. Mathews caught Salvatore with an armdrag and started to work on the elbow. He eventually hit Salvatore with the Tower of Power (Clothesline From Hell) and covered but was quickly pulled off by DeLuca. Mathews and Blazenwing started to work over Salvatore with quick tags but Salvatore came back with a double clothesline. He made a tag to DeLuca who hit a tornado DDT on Blazenwing. He looked to end things with a sunset flip but Blazenwing kicked out at two. DeLuca made a tag to Salvatore and they started to set up for their finisher. Salvatore lifted Blazenwing into an electric chair drop and DeLuca was going to hit a reverse blockbuster off the top.
Gemma Foster: The Haters looking for the 49th!
Blazenwing countered into a rollup as DeLuca jumped and missed. Blazenwing jumped to his feet and hit the ropes as Mathews tagged himself in. Blazenwing speared Salvatore through the ropes as DeLuca stood and was pulled into the Luke Lock (Gargano Escape) and was forced to tap.
WINNERS: The Old Guard (Blazenwing/Mathews)
Gemma Foster: That’s a huge win for the Old Guard! That takes them to 17 points in the series!
DeLuca rolled out of the ring as Blazenwing jumped back in and handed one of the Tag Titles off to Mathews. The two celebrated in the ring as we cut away to commercial.
Angel Kash Vs. AJ Jenkynx Vs. Mary Mallon
Before this match started we got a backstage promo from Angel Kash. She introduced herself to the world as the Trillion Dollar Princess and explained that a match with Mallon and Jenkynx was below her. She deserved to have a spotlight on her in her Empire Wrestling debut and that’s why she would NOT be competing tonight. Instead, she’s going to make her debut next week in a singles match. Because “what Angel Kash wants, Angel Kash gets”. She stormed off camera as we went back ringside.
AJ Jenkynx Vs. Mary Mallon
Jenkynx and Mallon were in the ring and this thing started off fast and furious with hard strikes. Mallon lit up the chest of Jenkynx with vicious chops to the point that AJ was almost bleeding. Mallon then hit him with a wicked lariat that made him stagger into the ropes but he came right back with a big boot to the face. Mallon started to get up and Jenkynx looked for a buzzsaw kick to the head that she was able to duck under. Mallon hit the Third Plague (Spinning Side Kick to the Ribs) that she then followed with the First Plague (Fisherman’s Suplex). She covered but Jenkynx kicked out at two. He got to his feet and quickly took Mallon down with a chop block and locked in the Lucky 13 submission hold. Mallon fought and refused to tap and made it to the ropes.
Gemma Foster: Mary Mallomn showing that she’s got a lot of fight in her but AJ is not backing down.
Jenkynx started to pull her up to her feet and she threw a thumb into his eye out of sight of the referee. This allowed Mallon to hit the Seventh Plague (Running Big Boot). She covered and got a two count just before he was able to kick out. Mallon set herself up for the Sixth Plague (Striking Spear) and ran into a kick to the face from Jenkynx. Jenkynx pulled Mallon into position and hit her with the Broke Dreams (Tiger Driver) and covered, getting the victory via pinfall.
WINNER: AJ Jenkynx
Gemma Foster: Just enough in the pinfall, Scott. Did you see Mary start to kick out?
Scott Parker: I did. A lot of fight in that one but AJ is able to pick up his second victory here in Empire Wrestling.
Jenkynx posed in the ring for a moment and left.
Casey Grey Vs. Alicia Monroe
Gemma Foster: A lot of bad blood between these two, Scott. Alicia picked up a win over Casey back at Next Level: Victorem and we’re looking at a big rematch.
Casey and Alicia meet in the middle of the ring and within seconds a shoving match breaks out. After Alicia pushes Casey into the corner Casey charges forward and tries for a Breath Mint (forearm smash) but Alicia ducks and gets in an uranage on Casey. Casey cries out as Alicia pulls her to her feet by her hair and throws her to the ropes. On the way back Casey is met with a single leg dropkick from Alicia. Alicia presses the attack, nailing a vertical suplex in the center of the ring. Alicia climbs the corner and when Casey is back to her feet she tries for a cross body block, but Casey drops to the ground and rolls under, leaving Alicia to slam into the mat. Casey takes a moment to shake out the cobwebs and grabs Alicia to pull her up. Alicia fights her way up, striking Casey in the abdomen and then her head. Casey drops to one knee in front of Alicia but before Alicia can make good on her attack, Casey lifts her up and delivers a vicious spinebuster. Casey dives onto Alicia for the pin, getting a two count. Casey jumps up, slaps her hands together three times and grabs the referee. She forces him back into the corner and holds up three fingers. She turns back to Alicia who is slowly finding her feet. Casey pulls her up, but Alicia grabs Casey’s head and drops to her knees with a sitout jawbreaker. Casey staggers back, holding her chin. She staggers and falls against the bottom rope. Alicia has hit the far side of the ring and runs back, kneeing Casey in the face with a running knee strike which flattens Casey and she rolls out of the ring. Casey is pulling herself up by using the guard rail, but she turns around as Alicia dives over the top rope, crashing into Casey and they both hit the deck hard. Alicia is back on her feet first and throws Casey into the guard rail. Casey falls back to the floor as Alicia limps back to the ring. At the count of “5” Alicia rolls under the ropes. She waits in the ring.
“6”
Casey pulls herself to her feet and starts walking towards the ring. She grabs the bottom rope.
“7”
Casey pulls herself up onto the apron. She moves slow.
“8”
Alicia rushes forward, pushes the referee out of the way and suplexes Casey back into the ring. Fired up with a sudden burst of energy, Alicia hits the ropes for a springboard moonsault on Casey. She goes for the cover and Casey kicks out just shy of the three count. Alicia slams both hands into the mat in frustration but leaves the ref out of it. Alicia pulls Casey to her feet and backs her into the corner. Alicia unloads with a fist into Casey’s face. Casey holds her mouth. Alicia fires again. The referee stops Alicia’s third punch, but Alicia shoves the referee away. She throws another punch. Casey blocks her strike, and instead spins out of the corner, holding onto Alicia’s wrist. Casey has locked in a standing cobra clutch which leads to the Copperhead Road (Cobra Clutch/Single Knee Backstabber) from Casey! Both are down again. The referee begins counting as both struggle to their feet on opposite sides of the ring. When Alicia gets to her feet she rushes into Casey’s corner for what looks like could be a clothesline or lariat, but Casey ducks and backdrops Alicia over the top turnbuckle, where she lands on her back on the ring stairs before hitting the floor. When Alicia gets back on the apron at “7”, Casey pushes the referee out of the way and executes a hangman maneuver on Alicia. Alicia lands on the apron and falls to the floor again. The referee begins reprimanding Casey, and she sticks her middle finger in his face. Alicia has climbed up onto the apron again, and as she’s coming through the ropes Casey pushes past the official and sends Alicia to the ropes with an Irish Whip. After a powerslam from Casey and some quick, choice words to the referee about doing his job right, Casey pulls Alicia to her feet and delivers a swinging neck breaker. Casey jumps to her feet and approaches the camera.
Casey Grey: Hey, Young! I got something for ya!
Casey turns her attention back to Alicia and, after kicking her over onto her stomach, locks in Bitch Muzzle (Crossface Submission). Alicia taps out quickly and the ref calls for the bell.
WINNER: Casey Grey
Casey isn’t letting go. The ref is trying his best to make her. The bell rings more. Alicia slams her hand into the mat. Casey screams in what could only be interpreted as some sort of sadistic glee.
Gemma Foster: Come on!
Scott Parker: Casey has lost it!
FM Young rushes from the back and slides under the bottom rope and runs forward and pulls Casey off of Alicia. Young shoves Casey back and away, looking positively confused. Casey looks incensed. She pushes Young. Young pushes her back. Casey throws a punch, and another, and another, but she’s completely out of control and swinging wildly. Young dodges the punches easily until one almost accidentally, but solidly, connects. F.M. Young is fired up, and swings back, landing a couple of shots before Casey hits the mat and rolls out of the ring. Casey backs away, watching Young.
FM Young: What is the matter with you?
Casey turns and walks away with a dismissive wave of her hand as Young helps the referee check on Alicia.
Take the pledge
Answering the Challenge
“Lights Out” by POD started to play and out walked AJ Adams in his ring gear, the Primetime Championship around his waist. He took a knee and pointed down to the ring and jumped up. He slowly made his way down the ramp and snatched a microphone from ringside before rolling into the ring. His music started to die down as he took off the Primetime Championship and rested it on his shoulder.
AJ Adams: I’m going to keep this simple. Lacy Nelson, let’s go. You threw out the challenge and looking at the card I seem to not be booked and I had my gear with me. Let’s do this big and do champion versus champion.
Gemma Foster: Wow!
Before anything else could happen, we got Harvey Carbine and Josh Cherry stepping out to the stage. Cherry had a microphone in hand and stepped in front of Carbine.
Josh Cherry: We’re sorry that we’re not who you expected, champ. However, we got a little news for you. This is straight from the top too so you know it’s good. Unfortunately you aren’t going to be able to defend that championship tonight because Macbeth has first dibs. He’s not here tonight on account of some travel but we get the pleasure of telling you that in two weeks he’ll get his rematch.
Scott Parker: That’s a huge match!
Josh Cherry: It’ll be a shame to see your reign be cut so short, AJ. As Macbeth would say, deepest condolences. Quote it.
Cherry dropped the microphone and left AJ standing in the middle of the ring.
Speechless
Scott Parker: Ladies and gentlemen, I have just received word that Karli Frost is sick. She is out tonight and will not be joining Fenryr against Dishonor.
Gemma Foster: What does that mean?
Scott Parker: Well, this is now a handicap match. Management asked Fenryr if he wanted to back out of it and supposedly he just laughed at them.
Gemma Foster: Well, I’m glad that the match wasn’t cancelled. Any word on what’s wrong with Karli?
Scott Parker: No clue. But she's in the hospital. She can’t talk.
Warfare Series
Fenryr Wulfsson Vs. Dishonor (Evans/Hirano)
Dishonor made their way to the ring first and were told of the change to the match and quickly started to discuss strategy. Fenryr came out to the ring next with a towel over his head and neck. He tossed the towel on his way to the ring and climbed inside. He didn’t allow the two to keep talking as he rushed them and knocked them both down with shoulder tackles. He tossed Hirano and Evans around the ring with hip tosses and arm drags but the numbers game started to catch up with him. Evans went high with a high knee and Hirano went low with a basement dropkick. Evans jumped to the apron and waited for Fenryr to start to stand and hit him with Seeing Stars (Slingshot DDT). Hirano came over with a running shooting star press and covered, getting two before getting launched in the air with a kickout. Fenryr powered to his feet and hit a backbreaker on Hirano. Evans charged right into a tilt-a-whirl slam. Hirano charged and ran into 9-9-9 (Gorilla Press Slam).
Gemma Foster: Dishonor keeps attacking but Fenryr keeps finding ways to power back. He’s a beast of a man.
Fenryr pulled Evans up and drove him to the mat with a gutwrench powerbomb. He wiped the bottom of his boot on Evans and kicked him out of the ring. Hirano came off the ropes and jumped up, hitting Fenryr with a DDT. Fenryr quickly got to his feet but walked right into a tornado kick to the head! Hirano yelled as Fenryr dropped to a knee and hit him with the Yoi Yume O [Sweet Dreams] (Running Knee to knelt opponent). This allowed Evans to come off the top rope with the Overdrive (630 Splash)! Hirano dropped onto Fenryr and picked up the win.
WINNERS: Dishonor (Evans/Hirano)
Gemma Foster: A big win here for Dishonor as they are now on the leaderboard for the Warfare Series.
Scott Parker: And a therapeutic win for Kaito Hirano as he picks up a win over Fenryr Wulfsson.
Hirano stood and Fenryr was up to his feet. The two started to brawl and Fenryr tossed him through the ropes. Evans charged and hit Fenryr with a dropkick that sent him into the corner. Evans jumped into the air for a corner splash but was dropped with a spear to the mat! Fenryr stood over Evans who then rolled out of the ring to regroup with Hirano.
Scott Parker: Fenryr has been, I don’t know, more vicious lately?
Gemma Foster: He’s looked dominant without putting together any big wins, that’s for sure.
Austin Scott Vs. Ursula Von Rossbach
Austin Scott made his way down to the ring first as he walked down to the announce table. He said a few things to the team before turning and jumping onto the apron. He turned back and looked at them before climbing through the ropes.
Scott Parker: Folks, Austin Scott wants us to let it be known that “he sees what Zoey is doing by not coming to the shows and ducking him”. If you’re unaware, Zoey Mathews-Mitchell was in Florida recently, as that’s where she’s from, and the state of Florida is on a no-travel list by New York state. Therefore, she’s been quarantined and unable to attend the shows. However, I’m told that she’s been in New York, isolated, and will return next week.
Scott adjusted his elbow pads as Von Rossbach stepped out to the stage as “HEAR ME NOW” echoed and "Imperium" By Machine Head played throughout the Warehouse.
Gemma Foster: Look at her, Scott! We saw Ursula a couple weeks ago taking in the sights of the Warehouse and she’s decided to sign with Empire Wrestling! I think we’re in for a real treat.
Von Rossbach flexed at the top of the ramp before slowly making her way down to the ring. Scott paced back and forth as she climbed up the steps and entered. The two got toe to toe and Scott gave her a little push. Von Rossbach didn’t budge and Scott reached back and looked for a punch but she caught it and dropped him with a headbutt. Scott got to his feet and was flipped down with a takedown. He got to his feet and Von Rossbach pulled him in for a German suplex but Scott was able to battle back and hit her with a hard elbow to the side of the head. He hit her with a couple hard right hands before sending her into the ropes and drove her to the mat with a spinebuster. Scott popped to his feet and ripped off one of his elbow pads. He was setting up for Straight Whiskey (Running lariat) but Von Rossbach was able to duck it and hit him with a snap German suplex. He stumbled to his feet and Von Rossbach lifted him and hit a fallaway slam. She climbed to her feet and pulled Scott up shortly after.
Scott Parker: The power of Von Rossbach is incredible. She just tossed Austin Scott like he was nothing.
Scott tried to fight back but Von Rossbach caught him with the Great Slap (A downward one handed slap to the face that drives ANY opponent straight to the floor). She covered Scott and got two as he was just able to reach out and grab the bottom ropes. She broke and Scott rolled out of the ring to get a few moments to regroup. Von Rossbach started to climb out of the ring after him and he tripped her up and she fell onto the apron. He jumped onto the apron and started to try and suplex her after she stood but she held onto the ropes. Von Rossbach lifted Scott up and suplexed him into the ring from the apron. She climbed into the ropes and he looked for a small package but she kicked out just before two. They both stood and he looked to lift her up and wanted the Ace in the Hole (Rikishi Driver) but she landed behind him as she slipped off his shoulders. He turned and Von Rossbach grabbed him, delivering the Sambo Chokeslam (Ursula grips her opponent's throat, kicks their leg out while lifting them up, and violently chokeslams them to the canvas one-handed). She then rolled him over and locked in the Great Lock (Steep angled wrenching Full Nelson Camel Clutch), forcing a submission.
WINNER: Ursula Von Rossbach
Scott Parker: Ursula Von Rossbach picks up a BIG win in her debut over the former Extreme Champion and looked impressive doing it.
Gemma Foster: I’m speechless, Scott.
Von Rossbach stood over Scott as he was still down in pain. She posed in celebration as we cut away for a commercial.
Daniel Daemon Vs. Outlaw
Scott Parker: Main event time!
Gemma Foster: I caught up with Outlaw before the show and he says he’s ready to go. I know he has been dealing with some knee issues but he says he’s 100%.
Outlaw was out to the ring first and didn’t seem to show any signs of knee pain. He stretched and ran the ropes for a moment before the lights went red in the Warehouse. “Square Hammer” by Ghost started to play.
Gemma Foster: Daniel Daemon with new music here, Scott.
He stepped out onto the stage and looked around. Both Junji and Mr. Fixit flanked him and took a knee as he stood on the stage. He looked back to them with a nod and made his way to the ring. The Kingsmen waited until he was a few feet in front of them and then followed. They jumped onto the apron before him and opened the ropes for him to climb into and then jumped to the floor. The lights became normal again as Daemon stood across from Outlaw. The bell rang and we started. Outlaw came out quick with chops and slaps to the face of Daemon to keep him stunned but he pushed Outlaw away and then dropped him with a big boot. Daemon landed a hard stomp on the right knee of Outlaw and he quickly moved away to avoid a second. Outlaw jumped up to his feet and ducked a backfist headed his way. Outlaw hit Daemon with a knee to the gut and then took him down with a neckbreaker. Outlaw hit the ropes and looked for a senton but Daemon moved out of the way. He got to his feet but was quickly driven to the mat with a spear. Outlaw was fired up as he jumped to his feet. Outlaw pulled Daemon up and sent him into the corner. He charged and connected with a big running elbow to the face. Outlaw ran to the far corner and started to charge again but this time ran into a big boot. Daemon grabbed the right leg of Outlaw and twisted with a dragon screw!
Gemma Foster: Daemon targeting that knee of Outlaw and if it didn’t hurt before it has to hurt now.
Daemon dropped his own knee onto the right knee of Outlaw before pulling at it, trying to loosen the tendons. Outlaw was able to reach out and grab the ropes to force a break. Outlaw rolled to the apron and Daemon approached. Outlaw hit Daemon with a shoulder to the gut and then flipped over his back. He tried to plant his leg but the knee made him wobble. Outlaw jumped to the second turnbuckle and dove at Daemon but was grabbed in air and put into a bearhug. Daemon tossed Outlaw around before driving him into the mat with a belly to belly slam. Outlaw stumbled to his feet and was grabbed by the throat and hit with a chokeslam. Daemon looked down at Outlaw and started to stomp on the knee once again. He then quickly locked in the Altar of Torture (Over the shoulder single leg boston crab) and Outlaw tried to get to the ropes.
Gemma Foster: Outlaw has to tap!
Outlaw made one last attempt to get to the ropes but couldn’t and was forced to submit.
WINNER: Daniel Daemon
Daemon refused to release the hold as Outlaw was clearly in pain. The Kingsmen entered the ring with chairs and kept the referee from getting to Daemon. Daemon finally dropped Outlaw who grabbed at his knee.
Scott Parker: You’ve got to be kidding me.
Daemon nodded to his Kingsmen as he stepped into the corner and watched on. Mr Fixit started to put Outlaw’s leg into the folded chair and held him in place. Junji came off the top with a double stomp and crushed the knee of Outlaw!
Gemma Foster: That had to have shattered Outlaw’s knee!
Outlaw trashed around in pain as referees pulled him out of harm’s way. The Kingsmen took a knee as Daemon stood in front of them and we went off-air.
Gemma Foster: So many matches, Scott! Plus, we have THREE big debuts tonight. We saw Sara Logan court Ursula Von Rossbach and she’s set to make her debut tonight against Austin Scott in what should be a hard hitting bout. WINNERS: The Grrrls (Mayhew/Fischer)

Fischer and Mayhew hug in the middle of the ring before rolling out. Blake stuck her body out of the middle and top ropes and wanted to keep fighting.
