Episode #59 - November 28, 2020
Johnny Draco Vs. Jack Williams
Parker explained that this match came to be with an oversight in booking as Gio DeLuca was set to take on Lana Corvin which was supposed to take place this coming Tuesday, leading to Gio being double booked.
Draco came out first with Tiffany Lynn Page to lots of boos. Jack Williams came to the ring with his brother Josh Williams. Williams and Draco locked up and Williams spun behind Draco. Draco reached back and hit Williams with a snapmare. Williams tripped up Draco and blasted him with a forearm while on the mat. The two exchanged strikes before Williams landed a big DDT. Williams got a two count before Draco kicked out. Draco looked for a brainbuster but Williams countered into a small package for another two. They both got to their feet and Draco connected with his Regime Drop (Rock Bottom). Draco covered and got a big two before Williams kicked out. Draco started to climb to the top rope and jumped over Williams as Williams charged. Draco landed on his feet and rolled forward and popped back up. He turned around and Williams caught Draco with a running knee to the face. Draco climbed up to his feet and Williams started to lift him for a Death Valley Driver and Draco rolled Williams up for a three count.
WINNER: Johnny Draco via pinfall
Marilyn Lee Cross Vs. Austin Scott
The Primetime Champion, Marilyn Lee Cross, came out to the ring with a new look including dark hair. She held up the Primetime Title above her head as she made her way down to the ring. Clips of her winning the Primetime Title were shown before Scott came to the ring. He climbed inside and tossed his hat out of the ring and quickly turned and leveled Cross with a cheapshot. Cross hit the mat and Scott took control with hard stomps and jumped on her with punches as the referee tried to break it up. Scott jumped up to his feet and moved around the ring and shook the ropes. Cross pulled herself up into the corner as the referee made sure she was good to go. Scott charged and missed on a splash. Cross ran the ropes and came back with Catch Your Breath (Striking Spear). Cross popped up to her feet and Scott was up soon after. She caught him with a palm strike to the face and then a big chop to the chest. She hit him with a Downgrade (Superkick to Knee) and then popped him with a shining wizard. Cross took control at that point and after a while caught Scott with a running crossbody into a pin attempt for a short two. Scott tried to battle back with Straight Whiskey (Running lariat) but Cross ducked it and looked for a backslide pin and got another two.
Cross and Scott were up to their feet and she charged right into a powerslam. They both got up quickly and Scott drove her into the mat with a spinebuster into a pin for one, almost a two. Scott pulled Cross up and into position before hitting her with a double underhook powerbomb into a cover for two. Scott slowly pulled Cross up to her feet and brought her right up on to his shoulder as he was ready for his Ace in the Hole (Rikishi Driver) but Cross countered into a tornado DDT. Both competitors got to their feet and Cross connected with the Mary Go Round (Discus Big Boot). Scott staggered and Cross hit the ropes and came back with John Wilkes Boot (Running Yakuza Kick to the back of the head). She covered and picked up the pinfall.
WINNER: Marilyn Lee Cross via pinfall
Extreme Legacy
AJ Adams: 117 days. Tia Santos, you’ve been building this extreme legacy for 117 days now and it’s nothing to scoff at. You’ve been able to defeat almost everyone placed in your path.
The camera shows us AJ Adams sitting cross-legged on the floor in his locker room. He stretches out a leg and starts to get loose.
AJ Adams: I can’t help but to admit that even I am impressed. Everyone should want to be you, Tia. It’s not often enough in this business that you hear of people praising their opponents but I continue to learn that it’s important to do so. You’re only as good as the people you defeat and I plan on defeating one of the best Extreme Champions that Empire Wrestling has seen.
Adams continues his stretching for a few moments before climbing to his feet.
AJ Adams: Your title may not be on the line tonight but a win would be just as sweet. I could run down everything I’ve done over the years but I know that it doesn’t matter. While I have preached for years about my own legacy and what it’ll be at the end of my career, this industry is also all about “what have you done lately”. I took the Primetime Title away from Ben Macbeth this year and that was so, so sweet.
This causes AJ to smirk as he stretches his arms.
AJ Adams: Each night is another opportunity to write a chapter in my legacy and you’re going to start a brand new page, Tia. Tonight we go out there and put on a spectacle and I hand you a loss. For you, it’s lights out.
Adams, in a very old school AJ move, puts his hand on the lens to end the segment.
The 323 Vs. The Kingslayers
This match never got started as the cameras caught the action backstage as the Kingslayers, Junji and Fixit, locked Torres inside a closet and attacked Perez. Perez tried to put up a fight but Fixit rocked him with the Fixed (Haymaker). They then drove Perez through a table with a double spinebuster.
Scott Parker: The Kingslayers just sending a message to all the teams in Empire Wrestling. They are more brutal than ever.
The camera moved over to Kevin Olson who was standing by for the next segment and Junji and Mr. Fixit approached him as he started.
Kevin Olson: Thanks, Scott. We had hoped to have an update on Daniel Daemon here tonight but he hasn’t been available for comment.-
He’s cut off by Junji Buranku snatching his microphone away.
Junji Buranku: That’s because there is no update, Kevin. Newsflash, he’s done.
Mr. Fixit grinned as the two walked off screen.
Descansa En Paz
Tia Santos: AJ Adams. It will certainly be grand to make your acquaintance...or will it?
The familiar voice, speaking in Spanish, paired with subtitles across the bottom of the screen tells us immediately who we are about to see on camera as the shot fades in on a set of candles lining a gravestone sticking up out of the earth. Dangling off to the sides, we see her boots with the hem of her black gown lifted inches above her ankles. It’s clear that she’s in a graveyard, at night. The only light in the scene seems to come from the candles and that of the moon above her in the clear sky. At the foot of the headstone is, disturbingly, what appears to be a human skull, painted green with a pair of lime green Blackhawk tomahawks, crossed over in an X pattern. Joining with the sound of her voice, is the sound of an acoustic guitar playing a sad, gloomy tune.
Tia Santos: I’ve done my research on you, Señor Adams. You certainly have the accolades of a notable opponent. You are a five time World Champion across two companies. You represented your native land as a champion in BWF. You have held gold twice here within Empire Wrestling. Very good, Señor. Very admirable.
We hear the sound of the guitar continue as the camera starts to pan up the legs and the headstone. Etched into the surface of the stone, we see the text:
The camera continues, slowly lifting up to show Tia’s nimble fingers strumming the strings of her acoustic. She’s in a more casual version of funeral garb, being in just a simple black dress. Her hair, like the curtain of night, cascades over her face, hiding it from the camera as she looks down at her guitar.
Tia Santos: My previous opponent boasted many accomplishments that she thought would strike fear into my heart. She underestimated my capabilities, as I expected. I did not underestimate her. I got, from Molly O’Hatherine, exactly what I expected.
She lifts her head to peer through her hair into the camera, but her fingers keep plucking those strings, playing that mournful dirge.
Tia Santos: Following her defeat, she faded into obscurity once more. Where is she now? Becoming paranoia over those she accuses of being doppelgangers. That was the mighty hardcore warrior I was supposed to respect? Pitiful. I want to believe different of you, AJ Adams. However, it seems to me that your career, as of late, is but a shadow of what it used to be. Look at your past and then look at you now. You seem unable to defend any championship you win. You’ve proven unable to stay active for too long before some part of you breaks and off you go again. You are what the business likes to call “injury prone.” It seems to me that your only appearances within Empire now, seem to be when they have nobody else to send to the slaughter. Pity.
She lowers her gaze to her guitar again, plucking away notes with her thumb pick.
Tia Santos: Perhaps they mean this to be your final opportunity. Your last chance. Pull your career out of its burial hole in what will be the fight for your life against the Saint of Killers...or lay down one final time and let yourself die. Let your legacy and name be buried. Just like that of this poor bitch that this stone beneath me represents.
With a final string pluck she ends her piece of music and rests the guitar over her shoulder. She pulls the Extreme Championship from her lap. She steps down from her seat on the headstone with an audible crunch from below but just stares through half a curtain of hair. The exposed side of her face is painted in Day of the Dead skull makeup.
Tia Santos: Death is coming for you, Señor Adams….
Tia steps out of frame and we can hear her walking away as the camera pans downward again, focusing on the display set at the foot of the gravestone. However, this time, we can see that the green painted skull has been crushed as the shot fades out.
Gio DeLuca Vs. Lana Corvin
This was a quick bout as Corvin took control early and never let DeLuca get his footing under him again. Corvin landed hard knees to the gut of DeLuca and kept wrestling him down to the mat. DeLuca eventually caught Corvin with a flatliner but Corvin was too close to the ropes for him to make a cover as she quickly grabbed the ropes, showing off her ring awareness. DeLuca climbed to the second rope and looked for his leaping second rope DDT but Corvin caught him and countered with a northern lights suplex and flipped over, pulling him up and then lifted him for a suplex and hit Spear of Diana (stalling suplex into a neck breaker). She covered and picked up an easy win.
WINNER: Lana Corvin via pinfall
Gemma Foster: Lana has put herself in line for a future National Championship match with a win here tonight.
Tia Santos Vs. AJ Adams
The fans were excited for the next match. Adams came out first and moved around the ring before Santos came out and showed off the Extreme Title. These two locked up and moved each other around the ring and into each corner before finally breaking. Adams flipped Santos to the mat with an arm drag and she rolled right to her feet. Santos connected with a headscissors takedown and flipped Adams to the mat. Adams speared Santos into the corner and unloaded right hands to her side. He tried to lift her to the top but she kicked him away and then took him down with a moonsault off the second turnbuckle into a cover for one. Adams climbed to his feet and was rocked with a chick kick to the side of the head. Santos looked for a lionsault but Adams got his knees up. He climbed up to his feet and grabbed Santos, delivering the Rough Landing (Blackheart Buster). Adams went for a cover and picked up a two count before Santos could kick out.
At this point in the match, Adams took control and started to wear down Santos and was able to keep her mainly grounded and unable to use her speed. He attacked her right knee and locked in a figure four at one point. Santos refused to submit and was able to slip free under the ropes to cause a break. Adams tried to go to the outside but Santos caught him with a DDT on the outside. She climbed to the apron and then slowly to the top rope as the referee tried to get her to come down. She looked back at Adams and took flight with Muerta Caída ([Dead Drop] Torpedo Planch)! Santos crashed down onto Adams and slowly got him up and into the ring. She climbed inside and covered but only got two as he kicked out. Santos was slow to get up and Adams wasn’t too far behind. She sent him into the corner and slapped at her knee and powered through. She hit a cartwheel splash in the corner and grabbed Adams. She looked for a bulldog out of the corner and he countered into the Lights Out (Tazzmission)! Santos tried to break free and Adams locked it in tighter. Santos was just within reach of the ropes and kicked herself off the corner and flipped backwards of Adams as they rolled to the ground.
Adams was up and walked right into a small package that got Santos a two count before he could kick out. Adams grabbed Santos as they both stood and he pulled her in for the Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail) but she spun free and then had to quickly block a kick to the gut. She flipped around Adams as if to hit a satellite DDT but then landed on her feet and pulled him in, hitting her own Beso de Muerte ([Kiss of Death] Dream DDT)! Santos slowly crawled onto Adams and rolled up a leg for a pinfall.
WINNER: Tia Santos via pinfall
Santos took a few moments to collect herself and celebrate in the ring before Adams started to come to. He grabbed her Extreme Title from the timekeeper and walked up to her. He gave her a nod and handed it off as a sign of respect and left her in the ring to celebrate.
Voodoo Daze
In the backstage area we could see FM Young getting ready for her upcoming match as she moved around her locker room. She left the room and made her way down the hallway where the camera caught both Manic and Lacy Nelson watching on. Scott Parker pointed out that Nelson once again had that dead look in her eyes as if she wasn’t aware of what was going on, Foster calling it brainwashing at its best. Manic laughed as the camera cut away.
National Championship Match
Noavrra (c) Vs. Annabella Daboia
Daboia came out first with Frost, Monroe, and Grey behind her. They all said a few things to her before leaving. Foster talked about Monroe giving Daboia a lot of training for this match. Noavrra came out to a big pop from the fans with the title on her shoulder. The match started as soon as Noavrra got into the ring as Daboia started to stomp at her leg. Noavrra stood and was taken down with a basement dropkick to her right knee. Daboia jumped and tried to jump on the kneecap of Noavrra but she was able to get out of the way just in time. Daboia tried to do everything she could to keep the champion down but eventually she powered her way to her feet and dropped a charging Daboia with a uranage. Noavrra tried to powerbomb Daboia but her knee buckled which allowed Daboia to come crashing down on her chest into a pinfall for two. With both competitors on their feet, Daboia locked in the Venomoid (Mandible claw). Noavrra was able to break free of the hold before hitting a big back elbow to the face and then grabbed a staggered Daboia and delivered Yeet Machine Go, with multiple German suplexes. The fourth German was bridged into a pin attempt but Noavrra could only push off with one foot and only got two.
Daboia started to fight back with her own hard strikes. After another basement dropkick, Daboia looked for Attempted Murder (Curb Stomp) but Noavrra got out of the way just in time. Noavrra hit a pop-up powerbomb and then folded Daboia up for a pin but got two but immediately finished off the Mastodon Special (Pinning powerbomb into Boston crab submission upon a kick out from the opponent). Daboia thought about submitting but was able to just reach the ropes for her first rope break. Noavrra pulled her away from the ropes and locked in a STF! Daboia inched just enough to grab the bottom rope for a second rope break. Daboia was slow to get up and ducked a lariat and rolled Noavrra up for a pin and got two before Noavrra used her first rope break.
They both got to their feet and Daboia locked in a sleeper. Noavrra rolled forward and countered into the Sensual Embrace (Code of silence aka leg choke submission) and picked up a victory via submission!
WINNER AND STILL NATIONAL CHAMPION: Noavrra via submission
Noavrra was handed her title as she celebrated to the cheering of the fans.
A Major Breakout
Sara Logan made an announcement backstage that for the first time since Tainted Twilight we would see Benjamin Macbeth and it would be at this Tuesday’s Breakout as she had something to personally hand him.
FM Young Vs. Kayla Taylor
The fans gave Young a big ovation as she made her way down to Taylor, showing off the World Title. We got shots backstage of Ursula Von Rossbach watching, the Social Elite all watching on, Dishonor watching, Paul Morgan, Lana Corvin, Griffin Hawkins, and even Tia Santos as Parker questioned who could be up next to challenge Young. The two locked up and had some back and forth chain wrestling to start things off. Young flipped off a few arm drags on Taylor before hitting a swinging neckbreaker. Taylor climbed to her feet and met the champion with a single leg dropkick to the chest that set Young into the corner. Taylor charged right into a big boot and then a capture suplex that sent Taylor back first into the corner, hard. Young dug deep into her playbook and connected with the Negasonic Warhead (Starship Pain) for a two count before Taylor kicked out. Young pulled Taylor up to her feet and connected with a suplex.
Young took control of the match and slowly just wore Taylor out with power blows and slams. Young was setting up for a spear before the lights went out. When they came back up, Manic hit the referee with what she calls the Splitting Headache (Bicycle Knee Strike)! Lacy Nelson stood in the corner before Manic shouted “FLY” and Nelson struck Young with her superkick!
Parker and Foster screamed for someone to come out and stop the assault before Manic hit Taylor with a spinning backfist that caused her to stagger into Nelson’s Headline (Eat Defeat). She pulled Taylor onto Young. The lights went out and both competitors were still down when they came back up. A referee ran down and started a count before Young kicked out at two to the roar of the fans. Taylor pulled Young up and started to set up for the Broadway Lights (Cross Rhodes) but Young spun out and right into her own Heart of a Phoenix (Lumbar Check). She covered Young and got the victory.
WINNER: FM Young via pinfall
Young snatched her World Title from the referee and held it up before looking into the camera. Manic’s laughing could be heard over the speakers before we cut off.
