Episode #91 - February 18, 2023
Scott Parker: Ladies and gentlemen, we’re back with Hype! It’s episode number 91 and we’re kicking things off with the new Operating Manager, Tom Carr!
The camera did its normal pan around the Warehouse and we focused in on Tom Carr, the new Operating Manager, standing in the ring in a nice suit and a microphone in hand. He looked around and took in the crowd for the first time in his role.
Tom Carr: Hello everyone. My name is Tom Carr and I’ve been appointed as the new Operating Manager of Empire Wrestling. Think of me as the new Sara Logan, but with a lot more say. Ms. Logan was a mouthpiece of the board of directors here in Empire Wrestling whereas I’ve been given the ability to make this company the best I can make it. My personal history is not important but just know that I have the resume to back me up being in this role. Tonight, I’m out here to talk about two things. Tonight’s main event will see the first match in a tournament to determine who will face Tia Santos for the Empire Wrestling World Championship at a new Next Level event that will replace the Next Level: Revolution event on April 15th.
The fans buzz as Carr takes a brief pause and continues.
Tom Carr: Tonight will be the first of four first round matches for the number one contender spot. The final three first round matches will take place in two weeks on Hype 91, followed by the semi finals on Hype 92 on March 18th, and then the finals on April 1st on Hype 93.
There’s a cheer as Carr keeps rolling.
Tom Carr: Now, for the other reason I’m out here. Marilyn Lee Cross. Say her name.
The fans cheer as Tom Carr takes a moment to acknowledge the Primetime Champion.
Tom Carr: Since October 31, 2020 she has been the Primetime Champion. She’s been able to defeat everyone placed in her way. Tonight, I stand here with an offer for Cross. Cross, you want to ascend the throne of Empire Wrestling and I’m here to offer you a choice. Relinquish the Primetime Champion as the undefeated champion and trade the championship in for a guaranteed title match at Next Level against the eventual number one contender and Tia Santos in a triple threat match. You have two weeks to decide, MLC.
Carr leaves the ring as we ready for our first match of the night.
Ronnie North Vs. Kaito Hirano
The Start: The Prince of Pleasure and Tag Team Champion, Ronnie North, made his way to the ring first with his title around his waist. He schmoozed with a few fans at ringside as Kaito Hirano came to the stage. Hirano rolled into the ring as North climbed inside and we were set. The two men locked up to start things off but Hirano quickly used his feet to land strikes on North. After a spinning back kick, Hirano ran the ropes but ran into a hard shoulder block. North ran the ropes and jumped over Hirano before he popped up. Hirano looked for a crossbody as North ran back at him but he caught him and powered him into a scoop slam. North clapped and got the fans into it as he walked around the ring. Hirano was up and charged right into an atomic drop before North then hit a belly to back suplex. Both men stood and North delivered a big clothesline. The Prince of Pleasure had control of the match as he locked in a headlock and walked Hirano around the ring.
The Match: North had planted Hirano with a DDT and looked for a cover but it was only for two. Hirano rolled out of the ring and tried to regroup but North quickly went after him. North landed a hard chop to the chest and Hirano started to walk away. North followed but was hit with a back elbow to the face. This turned the tide momentarily as Hirano delivered a northern lights suplex on the floor. Hirano rolled in and out of the ring to reset the count and pulled North up. Hirano hit a belly to back drop and dropped North on the announce table as he bounced.
Gemma Foster: Kaito Hirano mounting a comeback here, Scott.
Scott Parker: Don’t count North out yet, Gemma.
Hirano rolled North into the ring and climbed onto the apron. He made his way to the top rope and connected with a missile dropkick. Hirano was fired up and measured up North as he stood and delivered his tornado kick! North stumbled and fell to a knee. Hirano and looked for Yoi Yume O [Sweet Dreams] (Running Knee to knelt opponent) but North countered as he lifted him up and delivered a powerbomb!
The End: North slapped his chest and readied his hand. Hirano stood and was rocked with the Splitting Of the Bamboo (A hard mongolian chop [named after his favorite Kama Sutra position])! North then delivered a big spinebuster that planted Hirano as he rolled up both legs into a cover and was able to get two. North started to pull Hirano up and Hirano raked his eyes to get some separation. Hirano went to the corner and started to climb but was hit in the back and hung up on the top turnbuckle. North grabbed Hirano and delivered the Sensual Takedown of Destruction ([aka: The STD] Crucifix Powerbomb)! North covered and picked up the pinfall.

Scott Parker: Oh come on!
Gemma Foster: Evans is laying into North!
Hirano had pulled himself up and slowly joined in on kicking the downed North before the fans roared as Josh Goldstein came rushing to the ring. He clotheslined Hirano and backdropped a charging Evans right over the top rope! Hirano was in the corner and Goldstein delivered the Chutzpah Boot (Running Yakuza Kick either to standing or cornered opponent)! Goldstein helped his partner to his feet and raised his hand.

Torres entered the ring and Grey tagged in as well. Torres and Grey met in the center and landed a few blows before Torres hit a big boot. Grey rolled to her feet and staggered him with the Breath Mint (Forearm Smash). Torres went into the corner and Grey hit a big corner clothesline and then tagged out to Monroe. Monroe whipped Grey into Torres for another clothesline and then Monroe hit a big corner splash and then Freebird (Running Bulldog)! Hell’s Belles had an early advantage with quick tags in and out to keep the big man off his feet.
The Match: Torres had been worked over as Perez paced on the apron. Monroe tried to set up for a shining wizard but Torres was able to dodge and leveled Monroe with a jumping lariat. Both were down and crawled to their corners as they made tags. Perez caught Grey with the Green-Lighted (Jumping Complete Shot) and covered for two. He went to the second rope and jumped at a standing Grey as she quickly moved. He turned and Grey delivered GTO (Fisherman Driver)!
The End: Torres climbed into the ring and hit Grey with the Gravedigger (Uranage [Bray Wyatt]).
