Episode #95 - April 30, 2023
Scott Parker: Welcome to Hype! It’s the fallout from Rebirth and what an event it was, Gemma. We have a brand new EW World Champion as Daniel Daemon, the Untethered Emperor, is now a two time EW World Champion. It was the Victorem Contract that helped secure Daemon his second EW World Championship. After Melody Slayton was able to become our new World Champion in what was an amazing triple threat match, he invoked that Victorem Contract and defeated her mere minutes after her big win.
Gemma Foster: The landscape of Empire Wrestling drastically changed at Rebirth. Manic is the new Extreme Champion, we’re on the way to getting a new Primetime Champion, a new World Champion. It was a big night, Scott. One that included a hard hitting No Holds Barred match with Lacy Nelson falling to FM Young.
Scott Parker: We’re kicking things off here tonight with FM!
FM Young Vs. Casey Grey
FM Young came to the ring to kick off the show to a cheer from the fans. She had some tape on her shoulder as she made her way out and was ready to compete. Casey Grey came out next and removed her hat when she got down to the bottom of the ramp. She looked at it and placed it on the steps before rolling into the ring.
Gemma Foster: A different demeanor here tonight from Casey.
The two locked up to get going and Grey looked for a hip toss but Young blocked it and looked for one of her own and Grey countered into an arm drag. Both competitors got to their feet and Grey hit a snapmare and ran the ropes and looked for a sliding clothesline but Young ducked it. Grey grabbed Young but was pushed into the corner. Young hit a big corner clothesline and then powerslammed Grey into the middle of the ring. Grey climbed to her feet quickly and Young flipped her inside out with Man-Machine Interface (Discus Clothesline)!
Scott Parker: Grey just knocked for a loop!
Grey stumbled to her feet and ducked away from Young trying to grab her. Grey hit the ropes and came back with a big clothesline! Young hit the mat and rolled to her feet and the two clotheslined each other and fell to the mat as the fans cheered. Grey was up a moment before and tried to deliver her Copperhead Road (Cobra Clutch/Single Knee Backstabber) but Young battled out with elbows to the head of Grey. Young tried to connect with the Human Error Processor (Pop-up Powerbomb) but Grey countered into a hurricanrana into a pin for just two! Grey tried to pull Young down for the Bitch Muzzle (Crossface) but Young countered into Man-Machine Interface but didn’t get all of it as she grabbed her arm. Grey pulled Young down to a knee as she wanted the Bitch Muzzle. Young used her power and was able to slip free and delivered the Heart of a Phoenix (Lumbar Check)! Young covered and picked up the victory.
WINNER: FM Young via pinfall @ 13:07
Young celebrated after the match and left the ring. Grey looked around the Warehouse and grabbed her hat and left it on the top of the turnbuckle and rolled out of the ring.
Gemma Foster: What was that, Scott?
Scott Parker: I don’t know, Gemma.
Dragon Slayer
The camera moves backstage, where we find former Empire Wrestling World Champion Melody Slayton sitting in a folding chair, her head leaned back against the wall.
Melody Slayton: At Rebirth, I said I was going to change the landscape of Empire Wrestling forever. That I was going to defeat the longest-reigning World Champion AND the longest-reigning Primetime Champion of all time. And the crazy thing is?
She pauses as she closes her eyes.
Melody Slayton: I succeeded. I slayed two of the biggest dragons in Empire Wrestling history, avenged my father’s retirement battle from years ago, and finally won my first World Title. All while still in high school.
Melody chuckles.
Melody Slayton: The only problem is… the third dragon in Empire came-a-calling, and at least on that night, it seems that slaying two dragons was my limit.
She looks down sadly.
Melody Slayton: In the aftermath of Rebirth, I tweeted that I was happy, despite how the night ended. That I accomplished my dream of becoming a World Champion. And, like, I still AM happy about that. In one night, I feel like I legitimized myself to a generation of fans and other wrestlers.
A beat.
Melody Slayton: But I also said what I did because, in the moment, I absolutely couldn’t allow Daniel Daemon to think that he’d broken me in any way, shape or form. I needed to put up my strongest walls, because I’ll be damned if I was going to show any weakness - any at all - to the man who ruined what should have been the biggest night of my career.
Melody exhales deeply.
Melody Slayton: I made a vow in Uprising that I was done simply being “happy to be here” in this business, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I won two World Titles and the Gauntlet Run over in Limitless Wrestling as soon as I flipped that switch.
She pauses, contemplative for but a moment.
Melody Slayton: I am a Slayton. The Brood of Blazenwing. Daniel Daemon got the jump on me once. He hasn’t ever had to face me at full strength, and he certainly hasn’t had to face anyone as fired up as I am right here, right now, in this moment.
A beat.
Melody Slayton: Unlike the Mad Emperor, I have no intention of ambushing the Champion. I don’t need to blindside him, because I need no advantages to defeat him. Daemon, I’m coming for the Empire Wrestling Championship, because me and that belt? We have unfinished business, which means you and I have unfinished business.
She leans in.
Melody Slayton: When we battle for that title - and make no mistake, I don’t care who else thinks they’re getting a shot, we WILL battle for that title - I’m going to give up almost two full feet of height to you. Probably half of your body weight. What I’m saying is, I’m sorry you don’t have more going for you, because clearly what you’ve already got will in no way, shape or form be enough to stop the freight train that is Melody Slayton.
Melody smirks slightly.
Melody Slayton: Because this isn’t happy-go-lucky “Always bet on blue” Melody Slayton you’ll be defending your title against. This is “you wronged me and my family, and now I’m going to systematically destroy everything that has any meaning to you” Melody Slayton. I’m gonna put a beatdown on you so bad, your estranged children are gonna be sending me royalty checks in the mail. And when all is said and done? I WILL be the Empire Wrestling World Champion again… and it WILL come at your expense.
Melody’s slight smirk breaks into a full grin, with just the slightest hint of malevolence behind it. She is absolutely her father’s daughter.
Melody Slayton: Hell hath no fury like that of a Songbird scorned. I’ll be seeing you soon, Daniel. And I promise you this - you WILL see me coming, and you still won’t be able to do a damn thing to stop me. I’m ready to break through my limits… and to do that, I need to break you first.
Melody stares into the camera as the shot fades back to ringside.
Tia Santos Vs. Jess Carter
Jess Carter came to the ring first and waved to the fans on her way down and readied herself. Tia Santos was out next and walked through the smoke and stood on the ramp as she looked into the ring.
Scott Parker: For the first time in a very long time. Tia Santos out here without gold around her waist.
Santos rolled into the ring and immediately started to attack Carter with right hands. Santos hit a spinning back kick to the gut and then a swinging neckbreaker. Carter got to her feet and ducked a chick kick and rolled up Santos from behind! Santos kicked out at two as Carter pulled Santos up. Carter wanted a bulldog but Santos countered into a belly to back suplex. Carter stumbled up and ate a chick kick to the side of the head! Santos grabbed Carter and hit the Beso de Muerte ([Kiss of Death] Dream DDT). Santos covered and picked up a victory.
WINNER: Tia Santos via pinfall @ 5:19
Santos snatched a microphone and simply said “Quiero mi premio. Este no es el fin” and rolled out of the ring.
Scott Parker: I’m told that Tia just said she wants her prize and that this isn’t the end.
Harper Mason Vs. Kaito Hirano
The Dishonor member, Kaito Hirano, came out first with Jason Evans in tow. The fans gave Harper Mason a nice cheer as she entered the Warehouse.
Gemma Foster: The fans are taking to Harper Mason here inside the Warehouse, Scott. She picked up a big win at Rebirth! She’s going against Kaito, who, while he’s not had a lot of luck here over the years, he is a former champion with many years experience.
The two competitors circled each other and Hirano threw a wild kick at her to test her out. He connected with another kick and she grabbed her leg and smiled as she backed away. She rubbed her thigh and readied herself. Hirano charged and she caught him with a dropkick to the chest. She kipped up and Hirano rolled to her feet. Mason caught Hirano with a kick of her own as she smirked. Hirano stepped right up with a pump kick and Mason hit the mat and rolled out to the apron. Hirano approached and Mason caught him with a forearm that caused him to stagger back. Mason flipped over the top rope and delivered the Masonline Special (Buckshot Leg Lariat)!
Scott Parker: What a shot!
Mason was fired up and walked around Hirano and grabbed him as he stood. She delivered her Into The Earth (Ripcord Rolling Elbow)! Mason went to the corner and started to climb up and Jason Evans jumped onto the apron and distracted her as the referee tried to get him down. Hirano ran over and ran up the corner and hit a big superplex! Hirano and Mason were both down and slowly stood. Hirano grabbed Mason and delivered the Saigo no Jōsha [Last Ride] (Fisherman Driver) and covered for just two as she kicked out. Mason shook off the cobwebs as Hirano started to pull her to her feet and she landed a forearm to the face. Mason connected with the Crowd Killer (Ripcord Diamond Cutter) as the fans popped! Mason covered and picked up a victory!
WINNER: Harper Mason via pinfall @ 12:41
Mason quickly got out of the ring as Jason Evans chased after her. She raised her hand with a big smile as she made her way back to the back.
Martin West Vs. Marilyn Lee Cross
Marilyn Lee Cross came out to the stage first and looked around as she made her way down. The fans cheered as she entered the ring and readied herself for the main event. Martin West was set to be coming out and the fans were confused when the Operations Manager, Tom Carr, made his way out to the stage.
Tom Carr: Tonight’s main event of Martin West and Marilyn Lee Cross unfortunately is changing. We’ve seen you take on all types of challengers, Marilyn. Tonight will be a little different as I want to give you a REAL challenge to see if you are up to that task. It’s clear that you’ll be competing for the EW World Championship again at some point and if that champion is the Untethered Emperor, then you should be up to the task.
Cross looked on as Josh and Jack Williams, the Crew, came out to the ring for what was announced as a handicap match.
Scott Parker: This is odd. Gemma.
Cross was attacked by Josh and Jack as they hit hard punches and kicks. Cross started to fight out of the corner and hit the Downgrade (superkick to knee) on Jack and dropped him right into a DDT. She popped back up and hit the Mary Go Round (Discus Big Boot) on Josh! She went into a cover on Josh and Jack pulled her off and delivered a German suplex. Cross got to her feet and the Crew hit a leg sweep and jumping clothesline combo to take Cross down. They stomped on Cross before pulling her up. They sent her into the ropes and she came back with a crossbody on body men.
Gemma Foster: Cross coming back!
Cross hit Josh with the Catch Your Breath (Striking Spear)! She grabbed Jack from behind and locked in the Hungry Jaws (Dragon Sleeper w/ body scissors) and he tapped out!
WINNER: Marilyn Lee Cross via pinfall @ 6:24
Cross had her hand raised by the referee but quickly rolled out of the ring and went to the back.
Scott Parker: I wonder if she’s going to try and find Tom Carr. What is next for Cross?
The Untethered Coronation
After a break we came back to the ring as it was set up with a red carpet to the ring and the mat was now red. The ring announcer, Kim Roberts, made the announcement.
Kim Roberts: Ladies and gentlemen. Please welcome your NEW Empire Wrestling World Champion… DANIEL DAEMON!
The fans booed as “The Empire Strikes First” by Bad Religion kicked up and Martin West walked out first. He stood to the side and Daniel Daemon walked out next with the EW World Title over his shoulder. The duo walked down to the ring and climbed inside. Daemon placed the title on a pedestal and adjusted his tie. Martin West had a microphone and was ready to speak.
Martin West: The Untethered Emperor has once again ascended to his throne and is YOUR Empire Wrestling World Champion. Almost exactly 3 years to the day Daniel Daemon has reclaimed the championship that has always been rightfully his. The dawn of the Untethered Empire is upon all of you. Any foolish challengers will fall-
The fans popped as "Up Up Up" by Rose Falcon played and out walked Melody Slayton. She made her way right to the ring and jumped onto the apron as West and Daemon looked on. She entered the ring and kept her distance for a moment.
Melody Slayton: Do you see me coming? Because I’m not just coming for you, Daemon, I’m coming for that!
Slayton pointed at the EW World Championship. Daemon smirked as he placed the title on his shoulder and looked at the Songbird.
Daniel Daemon: I will welcome any challenger and they all will fall.
“Come and Get It” by I Prevail started to play as the mixed reaction for Lacy Nelson filled the Warehouse. She walked down to the ramp and rolled into the ring. Nelson snatched the microphone from Slayton and looked at Daemon.
Lacy Nelson: Every challenger? Because I seem to remember a headline that read Lacy Nelson beats Daniel Daemon to win her first ever World Championship. History likes to repeat itself.
Out of nowhere, Lacy Nelson superkicked Melody Slayton as the fans gasped!
Scott Parker: What was that!?
Gemma Foster: Lacy just laid out Melody with that kick!
Nelson looked down at Slayton before turning back to Daemon. She dropped to a knee and bowed to Daemon as the fans booed.
Scott Parker: I don’t believe it! Lacy Nelson is pledging herself to the Untethered Empire!
Daemon told her to rise. The Spartan Champion Martin West and Lacy Nelson started to attack Melody Slayton as the fans booed. There was a pop as FM Young rushed down to the ring to try and make a save. Young pulled Nelson away and yelled at her to stop before West hit her with a big discus forearm. Young hit a jumping knee to the face of West that staggered him. The numbers game was too much as the World Champion grabbed Young and hit a big chokeslam.
Gemma Foster: This is enough, Scott.
Marilyn Lee Cross appeared on the stage with a kendo stick and rushed to the ring as the fans cheered.
Scott Parker: Cross coming with an equalizer!
She was in the ring and cracked the kendo stick across the back of Nelson as the Untethered Era escaped through the ropes and to the ramp. They backed up slowly as Cross checked on Slayton and Young who were both coming to. West and Nelson took a knee on either side of Daemon at the top of the ramp as he help the title high.
Gemma Foster: The landscape of Empire Wrestling drastically changed at Rebirth. Manic is the new Extreme Champion, we’re on the way to getting a new Primetime Champion, a new World Champion.
