Episode #97 - May 27, 2023
Scott Parker: Welcome everyone to Empire Wrestling HYPE! Tonight’s card is stacked with talent as we have a total of six matches, including the return of two EW talents!
Gemma Foster: That’s right, Scott. Tonight we’ll see the return of former National Champion Kamila Rose as she takes on the man that likes to talk, Gio DeLuca. Our other return tonight sees Chelsea LeClair take on Jess Carter in what should be a fun match.
Scott Parker: FM Young versus Harper Blake, Jenna Jillian Walker versus Kayla Taylor, Tia Santos versus Casey Grey, Austin Scott versus Daniel Daemon!? Any one of those four matches could main event tonight’s show and we’ll see all of them here tonight.
Gemma Foster: We’re getting closer to Next Level: Revolution with just two shows left and tonight should shape up a lot of that card. We know that Hanako and Harper Mason were announced to the ladder match for the vacant Primetime Championship. I can announce that after her win last week, Harper Blake has been added to that match as she continues her chase for the Primetime Championship. There’s three more spots up for grabs!
FM Young Vs. Harper Blake
Harper Blake came to the ring first to a nice cheer from the crowd in attendance as she made her way down to the ring. She moved around the ring before FM Young hit the stage to a pop.
Gemma Foster: I got to speak with FM before the show tonight and she made her intentions clear to me that she’s looking for a big win here tonight as she’s got her eye on the Primetime Championship.
Scott Parker: This could be a big win towards that goal or it could be huge for Harper Blake to show she’s really ready for that spotlight.
The two competitors were ready to start the action with the first match of the night as they circled each other. Young powered Blake into the ropes and forced a break before sending her into the far side ropes with a whip. Blake came back and narrowly ducked a clothesline and came back off the ropes but ran into a shoulder tackle. Blake popped up and flipped Young down to the mat with a snapmare. Blake cracked a kick across the back of Young as she winced and started to stand. Blake caught her with a kick to the chest and then followed it up with a dropkick that took her right back down. Young got back to her feet and Blake ran into a back elbow to the face before coming back with a forearm to the face. Blake and Young exchanged chops to the chest which made Young smile. Young hit a vicious chop that echoed in the Warehouse as the fans woo’ed. Young powered Blake up with a suplex and rolled over her and lifted her right off the mat and hit a second.
Scott Parker: FM Young is still one of the strongest competitors in Empire Wrestling pound for pound.
Young had control as she slammed Blake to the mat a few times and then delivered a big German suplex. Young sent Blake into a corner and looked for a big corner splash but missed as Blake moved out of the way. Blake ran from one corner back and hit a shotgun dropkick that launched Young back first into a corner. Blake readied herself and charged again before delivering the Facial (Running Facewash)! Blake pulled Young out of the corner and set her up before climbing to the top. She looked for DDS (Diving Double Stomp) but had to roll through as Young rolled towards her. Blake got to her feet and Young looked for the Man-Machine Interface (Discus Clothesline) but Blake caught her with Future Sight (V-Trigger)! Blake hit her Swinging Fisherman Neckbreaker and quickly went into a cover where Young kicked out at two.
Gemma Foster: That’s about as close to three as you can get!
Blake pulled Young up and started to lift her for a Falcon Arrow but Young caught her with a knee to the head on the way up. Young landed on her feet and flipped her inside out with the Man-Machine Interface! Young was fired up as she pumped her fists and pulled her hair out of a ponytail. Young grabbed Blake from behind and wanted the Heart of a Phoenix (Lumbar Check) but Blake swung backward with a hard back elbow. Blake ran the ropes and looked for the Future Sight again but Young countered into Human Error Processor (Pop-up Powerbomb)! Young took no chances as she pulled Blake up and delivered Heart of a Phoenix and went into a cover for the victory.
WINNER: FM Young via pinfall @ 14:46
Young celebrated as her hand was raised. She motioned for a title around her waist and leaned into the ropes.
Chelsea LeClair Vs. Jessica Carter
Chelsea LeClair made her way out to the stage first as the fans gave her a cheer. She waved as she made her way down the ramp and to the ring.
Scott Parker: This is a re-debut of sorts for LeClair but the fans in the Warehouse only got a small glimpse of her. She’s been around the world and is back here in NYC for action tonight.
Carter came to the stage next and looked around and soaked in some cheers as well. She made it to the ring and we were set after the bell rang. The two locked up and Carter landed the first chop to the chest and LeClair came right back with a kick to the sides. She pulled Carter in and landed an uppercut to the jaw and then flipped her over with a headlock takeover. Both competitors got to their feet and Carter grabbed LeClair and hit a bulldog. She started to pull LeClair up to her feet but was speared into the corner. LeClair hit a Northern Lights suplex out of the corner and flipped back to her feet. Carter rose but was taken down with a jumping neckbreaker.
Scott Parker: A picture perfect neckbreaker there, Gemma.
Carter got to her feet and came up swinging and caught with a right hand but LeClair connected with a jawbreaker that had her stunned. LeClair quickly followed up with the Jersey Drop (Diamond Cutter)! She went into a cover and Carter kicked out at two. LeClair got to her feet and started to clap and got the fans behind her. Carter rose and LeClair delivered the Ocean Crash (Springboard cross-body). She quickly popped up and went to the corner where she connected with CANCELED (Corkscrew Moonsault)! She covered and picked up the pinfall win.
WINNER: Chelsea LeClair via pinfall @ 9:04
Gio DeLuca Vs. Kamila Rose
Gio DeLuca: You know what I hate?
The fans booed as Gio DeLuca came out to the stage.
Gemma Foster: Oh Lord, here we go.
Gio DeLuca: We recently got this new guy that’s supposed to be helpin’ run the show after the last lady left and yet somehow I still get ova looked and under booked against talent like what I’m facin’ tonight. I don’t care if she’s a former National Champ cause she ain’t champ now.
The fans cheer as he’s cut off and Kamila Rose made her way to the stage.
Scott Parker: A former National Champion, Kamila Rose, is back with Empire Wrestling and is walking with purpose!
Rose entered the ring and DeLuca got in her face and started to shout at her. She flipped him to the mat with an arm drag. He rolled up and he charged right into another. DeLuca charged a third time and was taken down as Rose jumped up and drove him down with a meteora. They both were up and Rose hit a big discus elbow smash to the face of DeLuca. She quickly followed it up with an uppercut to the jaw and then the Rose Cutter (Arm Trap Headlock Driver)! Rose pulled DeLuca into position quickly and delivered her Twisting Vines (Pop Rocks (Sunset Flip Powerbomb)) and covered for the victory.
WINNER: Kamila Rose via pinfall @ 2:49
Rose stood over DeLuca before he rolled out of the ring. The lights went out for a few moments and the EW Extreme Champion, Manic, appeared in the ring behind Rose! Rose turned and was face to face with Manic for a moment before the lights went back out. When they came up, Manic was gone and Rose was left in the ring.
Gemma Foster: What was that!?
Scott Parker: I don’t know, Gemma, but let’s take a quick break and come back to the action after these messages!
Primetime Headline
After a commercial break, music starts to build that the fans don’t recognize before ”GET ON YOUR KNEES AND BOW DOWN” echoes as “Bow Down” by I Prevail starts to play and out walks Lacy Nelson. She smirks as she pulls her sunglasses down to look over them.
Gemma Foster: Sounds like Lacy has a new theme to go with her new attitude and association with the Untethered Empire.
Lacy Nelson slides into the ring and puts her arms out to the side as she catches her gaze into the camera. She stands and takes off her sunglasses and tosses them to the side as the music dies down. She holds a single black rose in her hand as she places it on the turnbuckle nearest to her and takes a microphone. The fans start to die down as she’s ready to speak and they listen.
Lacy Nelson: Pipe down, pipe down.
The crowd began to boo her once again as she just smirked and powered through.
Lacy Nelson: I said it online earlier and I want to make sure it’s heard for everyone that may not have seen it. Empire Wrestling has seen some amazing wrestlers come through those doors but the Untethered Empire is the standard of what it means to be great. Daniel Daemon. Two-time Empire World Champion. He’s spent 409 days as your World Champion. The only person to ever beat him in a World Championship match?
She takes a moment for the fans and winks.
Lacy Nelson: Me. Martin West. Your Spartan Champion. He’s been your Spartan Champion for 302 days. As a trio we are what every superstar in the back should strive to be!
Lacy shouts as she points to the back and then out into the crowd as they mumble between themselves with a scattering of boos.
Lacy Nelson: Next Level: Revolution is right around the corner. The newly moved to summer time show has a special place in my heart. Summer 2019, Victorem. I won the first ever Victorem Ladder match. I went on to carry that contract until April 2020 where I used it at Revolution to become World Champion. Summer 2020 at Victorem, I retained against Daemon. Revolution 2021, I retained against Manic and Casey Grey. If it’s summer time of Revolution then I’ve had a great moment. This year? I’m taking the Primetime Championship.
There’s a buzz as Lacy turns to the ramp and she speaks towards the back.
Lacy Nelson: I don’t care what the match is but next week Tom Carr can book the match and I’ll qualify for that ladder match for the vacant Primetime Championship. It doesn’t matter who is placed in front of me I WILL be in that ladder match and I will leave Next Level: Revolution with another headline.
Lacy turns back to the camera and gets close to it.
Lacy Nelson: Lacy Nelson. Your NEW Primetime Champion.
She tilts her head and gives a wink to the camera before dropping the microphone as her music hits and she makes her way out of the ring.
Jenna Jillian Walker Vs. Kayla Taylor
Scott Parker: Here comes Kayla Taylor, Gemma. Kayla recently dropped Limitless Wrestling’s Emerald City Championship. I ran into her backstage and she’s not in a good mood tonight.
Taylor hit the ring and ran the ropes before leaning over top of them and balanced as she waited her opponent. Walker stood on the ramp and posed with a flex before making her way down. The two competitors were ready and Taylor quickly was on the assault. She grounded Walker and tried to place her into a seated wrist lock but the amateur wrestling background of Walker had her reversing and had Taylor face first into the mat. Walker quickly slipped right into her Process Lock (Ankle Lock) and Taylor had to scurry to the ropes to get a break.
Gemma Foster: I think Kayla just realized she’s going to have to approach this a little differently.
Taylor and Walker locked up and Taylor hit a hard chop to the chest before Walker came back with a forearm to the face and pulled her into a DDT. Taylor pushed Walker into the corner with a spear and came up swinging with hard right hands. Taylor tried to lift Walker up to the top rope but Walker clubbed her in the back and pushed her away with a kick to the chest. Walker jumped down and ran at Taylor, delivering a big spear! Walker popped up as Taylor climbed to her feet and slammed her to the mat with a powerslam. Walked pulled Taylor up and started to lift her above her head with a press but Taylor countered into a big DDT. Taylor pulled Walker up to a seated position and hit the ropes, coming back with the Plan A (Shining Wizard)! Taylor went into a cover where Walker kicked out right at two. Taylor went right back into another cover and got one as Walker kicked out again. Taylor tried to pull Walker up to her feet but Walker delivered a spinebuster.
Scott Parker: What power from Walker there!
Walker went right into a Texas Cloverleaf as the fans cheered and Taylor was in the middle of the ring. Taylor had to slowly make her way but she was able to get a break by grabbing the ropes. Walked tried to pull her off but Taylor popped her in the jaw with a kick. Taylor grabbed Walker and started to set up for the Broadway Lights (Cross Rhodes) but Walker was able to get free. Walker pushed Taylor into the ropes and then caught her with the All the Way Up (Pop Up Powerbomb)! Walker went into a cover and almost had three as Taylor just kicked out in time. Walker pulled Taylor right into position and delivered the BluePrint (Cradle Piledriver) and hooked both legs as she covered and got three.
WINNER: Jenna Jillian Walker via pinfall @ 15:19
Walker had her hand raised as Taylor rolled out of the ring. Walker jumped to the middle turnbuckle and faced the camera and posed as we cut away.
Primetime Booking
We go backstage where Kevin Olsen is standing by with EW’s Operating Manager, Tom Carr. The two shake hands as Olsen looks into the camera and speaks.
Kevin Olsen: Ladies and gentlemen, EW’s Operating Manager, Tom Carr. Mr. Carr.
Tom Carr: Thank you, Kevin. I wanted to take a moment here tonight to address a couple of items as it pertains to Next Level: Revolution’s Primetime Championship match. We already have seen Harper Mason, Hanako, and Harper Blake qualify for the ladder match but how are we rounding out the rest of the match? After the events I saw tonight and how things have unfolded with wins, I feel a safe and solid pick is after her win tonight we will be adding FM Young to the match.
The fans cheer at the announcement as he continues.
Tom Carr: And I was also listening when Lacy Nelson was in the ring tonight. She wants an opportunity? Next week let’s have a semi-final battle royal. 8 competitors. Over the top rope rules until we get to the final two and then it’s first to score a pinfall or submission victory. Winner is placed into the ladder match at Next Level: Revolution on Sunday, June 25th.
George Tucker Vs. Tia Santos
Tia Santos made her way to the stage through a cloud of fog and threw her hand up as she emerged. She made her way to the ring as the lights flashed and Tucker was announced as being from Brooklyn.
Scott Parker: If you’re confused as to why we’re not seeing Tia Santos versus Casey Grey, that would be because no one has seen or heard from Casey since the end of April when she left her hat in the ring.
Gemma Foster: I have tried to reach out to Casey and she hasn’t returned any calls or texts. George Tucker is a local talent that EW was able to get last minute and he’s going to have a tough task tonight.
The bell rang and Santos stood pat as Tucker bounced around. He charged and was rocked with a chick kick to the side of the head! Tucker stumbled over to the corner where Santos caught him with a CCS enziguri. Tucker stumbled out and Santos went right to the top where she delivered her Vela en la Noche ([Candle in the Night] Whisper in the Wind). Santos popped up and pumped her arms as she was fired up. Santos pulled Tucker up and hit Beso de Muerte ([Kiss of Death] Dream DDT). Santos rolled Tucker over and covered for a quick pinfall.
WINNER: Tia Santos via pinfall @ 2:09
Santos pulled her arm away from the referee after the bell rang and she rolled out of the ring.
Daniel Daemon Vs. Austin Scott
Scott Parker: It’s main event time!
Austin Scott hit the stage first as he had a pop of pyro behind him. He made it to the ring and tossed his cowboy hat towards the announce table as the crowd boo’ed for the entrance of the champion. EW World Champion, Daniel Daemon, made his way to the stage with Martin West at his side. West and Daemon nodded to each other as West made his way to the back and Daemon slowly walked to the ring. He wore the title belt around his waist and showed it off as he pulled it off and held it above his head in the ring.
Gemma Foster: The Emperor of Empire Wrestling, the World Champion. It’s hard to argue what Lacy Nelson had to say when the Untethered Empire is the bar for what you want to be here in EW.
Daemon handed off the World Championship to the timekeeper as the bell rang and we were under way. Daemon stood his ground as Scott walked right up to him, not backing down.
Scott Parker: The last time these two faced off, Daemon was able to pick up a victory.
Scott landed the first blow and Daemon ate it and shook it off. Scott hit a second and quickly followed it up with a chop to the chest. Scott sent Daemon into the ropes and hit him with a hard lariat but Daemon just stumbled backwards. Daemon bounced off the ropes and dropped Scott with a big boot. Scott bounded off the mat and popped right up to his feet. Daemon grabbed him and tossed Scott across the ring with a hip toss. Scott slid out of the ring and took a few seconds to reground while Daemon just stood in the middle of the ring. Scott jumped onto the apron and used the full ten count to get into the ring at nine. Scott and Daemon walked up to each other and Daemon landed a vicious chop across the chest. Scott flinched and shook it off before hitting a chop on Daemon and then a stiff uppercut. Daemon lifted Scott and slammed him down with a scoop slam. Scott got to his feet and ducked a boot to the face and ran the ropes. Scott came back with rocked Daemon with Straight Whiskey (Running lariat)! Daemon fell into the corner and Scott hit another Straight Whiskey. Daemon fell into a seated position which allowed Scott to deliver Goin' Muddin' (Opponent is seated in the corner, charges and connects with a running knee to the skull)!
Gemma Foster: Scott might have Daemon on the ropes here!
Scott pulled Daemon up to his feet and into the center of the ring. Scott hit the ropes and wanted another Straight Whiskey but Daemon delivered a big boot. Scott bounced off the mat and got to his feet and walked into a chokeslam! Daemon pulled Scott up and hit another chokeslam. Daemon walked around the ring and looked down at Scott the entire time. Scott started to stand and was totally dazed. Daemon lifted Scott and delivered a devastating Twist of Cain II (Vertical Suplex Piledriver). Daemon covered and picked up the pinfall as the fans booed.
WINNER: Daniel Daemon via pinfall @ 14:09
Daemon took his championship back from the referee after the match and placed it on his shoulder.
Gemma Foster: Who can take down the Emperor?
Scott Parker: There’s only been two people to ever defeat Daniel Daemon in Empire Wrestling when a championship has been on the line; Lacy Nelson and -
Before he could say another word, the fans popped as Marilyn Lee Cross stepped out onto the stage.
Scott Parker: And Marilyn Lee Cross for the Primetime Championship!
Cross walked to the bottom of the ramp and motioned for the championship around her waist as Daemon just watched on. There was another pop as Melody Slayton walked out onto the stage and pointed at Daemon.
Gemma Foster: I think Melody wants a rematch!
The show ended with a stare down between all three competitors!
