Next Level: Victorem - December 17, 2023
Gemma Foster: Welcome everyone! It’s the final event of the year and it’s one that has, historically, been able to change the entire landscape of Empire Wrestling! Welcome to Next Level: Victorem! As always I am Gemma Foster but tonight, I welcome the voice of Fight! Championship Wrestling, Sara Reece.
Sara Reece: I’m excited to be here tonight, Gemma! It was so great working with you the other night for Night 1 of FCW’s Be the Fight that I wanted to do it again and what a night to do it on!
Gemma Foster: What a night that was, Sara! The Extreme Championship was on the line and Chelsea LeClair walked out champion as she was able to defeat FM Young in what was a classic Extreme Championship match. I URGE everyone to go watch that match if you haven’t yet. Tonight is packed with so many threads all coming to this event. None of which is more personal than tonight’s Loser Must Retire match inside a steel cage as Daniel Daemon and Johnny Maverick, father and son, do battle.
Sara Reece: The stakes can’t be any higher than that, Gemma. You talk about changing the landscape and that is a match that can do it.
Gemma Foster: The landscape can also change in our marquee match as the Victorem Ladder Match will put a contract for the World Championship at any time the holder wishes. That contract can change careers.
Sara Reece: We could sit here all night and talk about the show but let's get into the action!
Harper Mason Vs. Melody Slayton (c)
The fans were buzzing as we were set the night and the opening contest was announced. Harper Mason walked out to the stage and popped her jean jacket before throwing her hand in the air. She made it to the ring and prepared herself as she looked up to the stage. Primetime Champion Melody Slayton came out to the stage and was fired up as she got the crowd into it. They gave her a big cheer as she made her way to the ring and showed off the title before handing it off. The bell rang and the two competitors locked up and we were underway. Slayton flipped Mason to the mat with a headlock takedown and applied a hold. Mason was able to slip out and quickly got to her feet and tripped Slayton up with a drop toe hold. Mason tried to apply a single leg crab but Slayton was able to kick her away quickly and popped up. They exchanged quick takedowns with arm drags, hip tosses, and tripping each other as the fans cheered the back and forth. Slayton caught Mason with a hard uppercut and Mason came right back with a big discus lariat!
Gemma Foster: Back and forth they go!
Slayton started to stand and Mason was able to catch her with Into the Earth (Ripcord Rolling Elbow)! She went into a cover but just got one as Slayton kicked out. Mason started to target the knee of Slayton but the champion was able to get some separation as she caught Mason with a big DDT. Slayton charged and delivered This Magic Moment (V-Trigger)! She quickly pulled Mason up to her feet and was able to hit a bridging German suplex into a pinfall attempt that got her a two count. Mason got to her feet and had to dodge an incoming superkick! Mason dumped Slayton over the top ropes to the floor. She watched her start to stand and Mason looked for a tope suicida and Slayton moved out of the way, causing Mason to crash and burn! Mason started to stagger to her feet and Slayton hit her Full Effect 2.0 (Superkick, followed by Shining Wizard)! She rolled Mason into the ring and covered and the fans were shocked at the two count as Mason kicked out.
Sara Reece: Harper Mason is showing out some tremendous toughness after that sequence!
Mason started to stand and Slayton had readied herself in the corner as she looked for the Glitter Bomb (Panama Sunrise) but Mason countered into an air raid crash! Mason went into a cover and Slayton kicked out at two! Mason rolled out to the apron and waited. Slayton started to stand and Mason connected with the Masonline Special (Buckshot Leg Lariat)! Mason covered and hooked both legs but Slayton kicked out! Mason was shocked as she looked down at Slayton and started to pull her to her feet. Slayton dug deep and jumped up with a knee! She hit the ropes and connected with This Magic Moment! Slayton looked for Full Effect 2.0 again but Mason side stepped it and connected with the Crowd Killer (Ripcord Diamond Cutter)! Mason covered as she picked up the three count win!
WINNER AND NEW PRIMETIME CHAMPION: Harper Mason via pinfall @ 19:38
Mason pumped her fist in excitement as she was handed the title and held it up high.
Gemma Foster: Harper Mason has captured her first taste of gold here in Empire Wrestling.
Sara Reece: I’ve been studying some classic Empire Wrestling matches, Gemma, and this might be one of the top Primetime Championship matches ever. These two really put it all on the line here tonight.
Mason celebrated before heading to the back, pausing to pull Slayton to her feet and patting her on the back.
Season’s Beatings
The mood backstage at Victorem was bright and cheerful even despite the intensity shown by everyone involved thus far. Part of that reason was because of the festive attitude and appearance of Ricky Rodriguez. He wandered around those halls, decked out in red and green trunks, a Santa hat atop his head, and a well decorated wreath around his neck.
Ricky Rodriguez: ’Dashin through the snowww..in a one horse open sleigh. O’er the fields we go..LAUGHIN ALL THE WAY!’
With handfuls of tinsel, Ricky practically pranced around, tossing strands of it in all directions, some of which landing on different members of the Empire Wrestling roster and staff both. Some of them took it well, enjoying the cheerfulness while others were just a bit grumpy about it. Despite that, Ricky continued on, spreading his cheer all around.
Ricky Rodriguez: ’Bells on bobtails ring..makin spirits bright. What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighin song tonighttt!’
At this point, Ricky was off in his own little world, which is exactly why he was as caught off guard as he was when he turned that corner. Seemingly out of nowhere, Ashlynn Cassidy jumped out in front of Ricky, laughing out.
Ricky Rodriguez: ‘Ohshit!’
His eyes shot open wide, startled to the point he stumbled backwards, falling onto his ass. Ashlynn's gear had the same color scheme Ricky’s did. Red and green garland was wrapped around her body with her own Santa hat on her head.
Ashlynn Cassidy: ‘Jingle bells! Jingle bells! Jingle all the way!’
Even though he just fell, he still couldn't help but to smile brightly as he looked up at her. Ashlynn returned that smile and offered her free hand to Ricky, the other being behind her back. He happily took her hand, getting up to his feet.
Ricky Rodriguez: ‘Holy shit, look at you.’
He looked her up and down, his smile shifting into a slight smirk. Ashlynn smiled proudly before bringing her hidden hand around from behind her, holding mistletoe above the two of them. Ricky looked up at it and then to her as they leaned into one another with a loving kiss. Their embrace lingered for a moment before the two parted.
Ashlynn Cassidy: ‘How are you feeling about the match?’
Ricky Rodriguez: ‘Babyy, I couldn't feel better if I tried. I get to go out there and team with one of the loves of my life. And we're actually fightin for somethin too, y’know?’
Ashlynn Cassidy: ‘You’re right! It's not just going for a win, it's proving a point. Proving that we're not just going to sit back and watch as bad people do bad things in this company, especially when it comes to our friends.’
Nodding his head in full agreement, Ricky began bouncing a bit, feeling that energy and hype within him growing rapidly.
Ashlynn Cassidy: ’When we go out there tonight, Dishonor is going to know just how serious we are about this, cause I know we come off a bit..aloof at times, but between those ropes and when that bell rings? It's nothing but seriousness.’
Ricky Rodriguez: ‘People seem to forget that we are globally traveled wrestlers. We put our everythin into this. We've held championships all over the damn place. Hell, we both hold championships now.’
Ashlynn Cassidy: ‘That's right, Mr. Tag Team Champion!’
Ricky Rodriguez: ‘That goes double for you, Mrs. Battleground Champion.’
The pair beamed with pride at their current accomplishments before embracing one another once again. As they parted, they would remain close enough, their foreheads pressing together.
Ashlynn Cassidy: ‘They’re not ready for this.’
Ricky Rodriguez: ‘We are.’
Ashlynn Cassidy: ‘Let's go elevate the situation.’
Ricky Rodriguez: ‘Like only we can.’
Taking a step back from one another, the two turned and started walking off, arm in arm. Their spirits high and smiles bright, the scene cut away as the two made their way down that hall, ready for the fight ahead of them.
REUNIONS
A little earlier in the night, backstage at the warehouse, the camera focuses on Casey Grey, walking down the hallway with a triumphant smile on her face. As she approaches her locker room, she is surprised to see her sister, Alicia Monroe, waiting outside.
Casey Grey: Alicia? What are you doing here?
Alicia Monroe: Just thought I'd drop by to, you know, offer my sister some moral support.
Casey gives Alicia a suspicious look but can't help but smile at Alicia’s unexpected presence.
Casey Grey: Moral support, huh? You're not planning a return yourself, are you?
Alicia laughs.
Alicia Monroe: Not a chance. I'm only here as a fan. Besides, you don't need me stealing your spotlight.
Casey Grey: Well, I appreciate it. It means a lot to me, especially after all these months away.
Alicia Monroe: Look, tonight is about you. I’m just here to watch your match, and it seems like you've been doing fine since the return.
The conversation is interrupted as a backstage crew member approaches Casey.
Crew Member: Casey, you're up next. Your match against Missy Propaganda is about to begin.
Casey nods at the crew member and thanks him before turning back to Alicia.
Casey Grey: Well, I better get going. I have to take another step up the comeback ladder.
Alicia Monroe: Go out there and show them why you're a real champ. I'll be watching.
Casey gives Alicia a quick hug before heading towards the entrance ramp.
Casey Grey Vs. Missy Propaganda
We were set for the next match as Casey Grey hit the stage to a pop from the fans. She entered the ring and tossed her signature hat out into the crowd as she moved around the ring. Missy Propaganda had a big smile on her face as she made her entrance.
Sara Reece: This is an interesting match, Gemma. Both have something to prove and while a loss isn’t going to damage their course here in EW, a win surely would be nice! Missy Propaganda is a great, young talent still coming into her own.
The bell sounded and we were off. Grey let Propaganda come to her before hitting a hard strike to the chest. Missy came back with a chop to the chest of Casey and smiled, allowing her to chop her back. Casey followed up with a second chop before Missy hit a clubbing forearm to the chest. She flipped Casey to the mat with a hip toss. Casey started to stand and Missy threw a hard elbow to the jaw of Casey. Missy lifted Casey up and dropped her with a suplex in the middle of the ring and rolled over for a cover, getting one. Grey was able to get to her feet quickly and had a big smile as she moved around the ring. Propaganda threw a roundhouse kick her way and Grey ducked under it before hitting a swinging neckbreaker. Both were up quickly and Missy stepped right into a spinebuster.
Gemma Foster: Casey Grey has shown throughout the years that she can beat you in a number of ways.
Both competitors staggered to their feet and Grey delivered a dropkick to the knees to Propaganda. Grey grabbed a leg and applied a figure four. Missy was able to get herself rolled over and reversed the move as Casey had to get herself to the ropes. Both competitors got to their feet and Missy was able to take Casey down with a dragon screw. Missy pulled Casey up and delivered a second as Casey grabbed at her knee. Missy looked for a stomp on her knee but Casey rolled away just in time. She got to her feet and Missy hit the Propaganda Bomb (Springboard Flatliner)! Missy went into a cover and just got two as Casey powered herself up. Missy charged right into a powerslam! Casey was fired up as she pulled Missy up and connected with the Breath Mint (Forearm Smash). Missy tried to lift Casey up for a suplex but Casey blocked it. Casey looked for a lariat but Missy ducked it. Missy rolled Casey up for a small package but Casey kicked out at two. Both were both up quickly and Casey countered a swinging neckbreaker and lifted Missy up and delivered the Racklash (Rack Attack)! Grey went into the cover and picked up the pinfall!
WINNER: Casey Grey via pinfall @ 16:51
Sara Reece: Another big win for Casey Grey since her return to Empire Wrestling!
Gemma Foster: You have to wonder what’s next for Casey!
Casey Grey celebrated in the ring briefly before rolling out. She high fived fans at ringside as she made her way up the ramp.
The Process
The camera opens to the backstage area where we see Jenna Jillian Walker walking into the Warehouse.
Jenna Jillian Walker: Are you ready, Vero? Because tonight's fight night. All that talk that you’ve been doing and all the butting into my business you have been doing the last several weeks…All that ends tonight when I make you tap after I tear your arm off the rest of your body. Then it’ll be more difficult for you to spray your cheap ass snake oil.
Jenna stops and looks around the backstage area of the warehouse.
Jenna Jillian Walker: Because what you aren’t Veronica is an actual wrestler. You don’t take this great sport seriously. You never have and you never will. You’re more of just an attention seeking publicity whore. I mean just look at all the people that have done it before you and I’m sure many more will do it after you little Miss Vero. Which is why when we step into the ring tonight I’m going to do what I do best and out wrestle you while I expose you as the fraud you are. Then maybe you’ll learn why you should trust the process.
Jenna walks away.
Ashlynn Cassidy & Ricky Rodriguez Vs. Dishonor (Kimiko Hirano & Kaito Hirano)
It was time for tag team action as Dishonor hit the stage first as the fans booed. The brother and sister team made their way to the ring and stood on the far side and waited. The boos quickly turned to cheers as Cassidy and Rodriguez came out to the stage. They gave the fans a quick pose before making their way to the ring. She rolled into the ring and looked out at Dishonor. Kaito and Kimiko circled the ring as the referee tried to get them into the ring. Kimiko and Kaito kept teasing who was going to get into the ring before Kaito jumped in and attacked Ricky. Ricky and Kaito came to blows as Kimiko pulled Ashlynn out of the ring as they fought. Kaito lifted Ricky onto his shoulders for Oyasumi [Goodnight] (Fireman's Carry Overhead Kick) but Ricky fought out and landed on his feet. Ricky hit a hard chop to the chest of Kaito and then a step up enziguri. On the outside, Ashlynn hit a dropkick on Kimiko! Kimiko got to her feet and speared Ashlynn into the barricade!
Gemma Foster: These two teams do NOT like each other! Ashlynn and Ricky are trying to put Dishonor in their place after weeks of attacks!
Ricky jumped over the top rope and took out Kimiko! Hirano was to the top turnbuckle and dove off, taking out all three! The fans cheered on as Hirano rolled Ricky into the ring. Hirano pulled Ricky up and connected with a blue thunder bomb and covered for just one. Ricky rolled backwards and got his footing under him and popped up. Hirano missed with a running boot to the face and Ricky connected with a pele kick! Ricky dove and made a tag to Ashlynn and she hit a springboard into the ring and took Hirano out with headscissors takedown! Hirano rolled to his corner and was able to make a tag. Kimiko jumped into the ring and had to duck a clothesline and lifted Ashlynn up for a belly to back suplex and slammed her down. Both competitors popped up and the two started to exchange more blows. Kimiko smacked Ashlynn with a lifting knee to the face and then a flipping neckbreaker. Kimiko ran over and knocked Ricky off the apron and pulled Ashlynn to the corner.
Sara Reece: Dishonor going to try and single out Ashlynn now!
Kimiko tagged Kaito and the duo stomped on Ashlynn. Ricky had seen enough as he came running over and hit Kimiko with a big spear! Kimiko rolled out of the ring and Kaito tried to attack Ricky. Ricky hit him with an elbow to the face and then delivered To The Top (Springboard Cutter)! Kaito stumbled to his feet and Ashlynn hit Period, Peace (Ripcord kappo kick)! Ashlynn went into a cover as Ricky took Kimiko out on the outside with a tope con hilo and the team picked up the pinfall!
WINNERS: Ashlynn Cassidy & Ricky Rodriguez
Ashlynn and Ricky hugged in the middle of the ring and raised each other’s hands as the fans cheered them on.
Travis Levitt Vs. Samantha Hamilton (c)
The tension was high for the next match as we got the announcement of the Spartan Rules. Travis Levitt made his way to the ring first and seemed laser focused as he walked up the steps and climbed into the ring. The fans popped as Samantha Hamilton made her way out with the Spartan Championship around her waist. She posed on the top of the ramp for the fans before making her journey to the ring. She climbed inside and handed off the title after being introduced. The two competitors locked up as the bell rang and tried to get control early on by pushing the other into the corner. Levitt pushed his forearm against the face of Hamilton in the corner and then delivered a stiff uppercut. Hamilton smirked and delivered a hard chop to the chest before hitting a clubbing blow to the back. Her knee went into his gut and she ran the ropes and Levitt jumped over her. She kept running and ran into a spinning backfist! Levitt stepped up and connected with a roundhouse kick that dropped Hamilton. He went into a quick cover and she easily kicked out at one.
Sara Reece: What a quick striking sequence there by Travis!
Levitt backed away and smiled as Hamilton got to her feet. She brushed herself off and smiled back. The two locked back up and this time it was Hamilton getting the upper hand as she flipped him over with a hip toss. Levitt turned and walked right into a big boot to the face. Levitt rolled to his knees and took a hard kick to the chest. Hamilton then rocked Levitt with a hard kick to the back and then yanked him off the mat. Hamilton started to lift Levitt for a spinebuster and he hammered her in the back with a blow and she dropped him on the mat feet first. He looked for the Phoenix Tear (Bicycle Knee Strike) but Hamilton just moved out of the way in time. Hamilton hit a German suplex and then rolled back up, pulling Levitt up, and locked in Exiled to Tartarus (Sleeper Hold)! She had it locked in and Levitt eventually made it to the ropes and was able to use his first of three rope breaks.
Gemma Foster: Hamilton is staying on the attack!
Hamilton was right on Levitt after the rope break and sent him into the corner. She charged and hit a big corner spear and then lifted him to the top turnbuckle. He sat and she jumped up to the middle rope and she connected with her Wrath of the Furies (Springboard Spanish Fly)! She went into a cover and Levitt kicked out at two. Hamilton started to yank Levitt to his feet and Levitt hit a jawbreaker. He ran the ropes and connected with a running forearm to the face. Hamilton staggered and he ran them again and hit a hard lariat but she just stumbled. He came back a third time for another lariat but Hamilton ducked and ran the ropes. On the come back, Levitt hit the Phoenix Tear! He rolled her into a cover and got two as she kicked out.
Sara Reece: Not so fast!
Levitt rolled Hamilton over and locked in Fawkes Fate (Arm-Trap Crossface)! He screamed for her to tap as the referee checked on her but she refused. Hamilton was able to slowly inch her way and got her foot on the ropes to cause her first rope break. Levitt tried to roll Hamilton away from the ropes but she was able to hook him in a small package and got a two count! Both competitors got up and charged, hitting a double clothesline and knocking each other down. The referee started a ten count and both were able to answer at 7 as the fans cheered. The two slowly exchanged chops before Levitt tried lifting her up for Renee’s Rise (Double Underhook Brainbuster) but Hamilton was able to counter with a backdrop. He got to his feet and turned into a kick to the gut. Hamilton looked for the Wrath of the Titans (Pedigree) but Levitt hit a backdrop of his own but Hamilton landed on her feet. She lifted him up and connected with Zeus’ Wrath (One Winged Angel)! She covered and the crowd counted and the referee stopped at 2.999 as Levitt had his foot on the rope for his second break!
Gemma Foster: Hamilton can’t believe it!
Hamilton pulled Levitt to the center of the ring and started to set up for something but Levitt dropped as dead weight. She lifted him to his feet and shocked her with an uppercut. Hamilton tried for a neckbreaker and the two kept reversing until Levit got behind and hit a hard kick to the back of Hamilton’s knee! She hit the ropes and hit her with the Resurrection Kick (Claymore) to the back of the head. He pulled her up and hit a second for good measure and covered as he picked up the win.
WINNER AND NEW SPARTAN CHAMPION: Travis Levitt via pinfall @ 18:39
Levitt grabbed the title from the referee and leaned into the ropes as he celebrated. The fans cheered the two competitors on after the match.
Gemma Foster: An instant classic!
Veronica Taylor Vs. Jenna Jillian Walker
With the crowd already buzzing from a good show already, the momentum only grows as 'Fight Music' by D12 kicks in and Jenna Jillian Walker makes her way out from the back. She slaps hands with some fans as she heads for the ring, and gets ready. After a few moments, 'Cocky AF' by Megan Thee Stallion kicks in, and 'First Class' Veronica Taylor makes her way down the ramp. Keeping herself away from any and all fan touches, Veronica steps between the ropes and takes a moment to pose, slowly circling around the ring with a giant smirk. As she passes Jenna, Walker rolls her eyes and turns away, and pays for it a moment later as Veronica spins around and slams a forearm into the back of her headm knocking Walker to the ground! Taylor pounces on the downed Walker and throws some quick rights and lefts to the back of her head, as the referee calls for the bell to start the match.
Gemma Foster: Veronica Taylor jump starting this one with a cheap shot! Walker never saw it coming!
Taylor takes a moment to climb to her feet, posing and preening like a peacock as she gloats, before turning back to see Walker dragging herself up using the ropes. Taylot quickly struts over, turning Walker around to rest against the ropes and unleashing a nasty chop across Walkers chest. She pulls Walker back up after the first one and does it again, but this time Walker just glares at her. Taylor takes a half step back at the glare from Walker but then unleashes another chop, and again Walker just shrugs it off, grabbing Taylor by the back of her head and unleashing three nasty forearms right to her jaw that sends Taylor crumpling to the mat. Taylor bounces up and Walker goes to grab her again, but First Class is quicker, raking at Walker's eyes and breaking her momentum. As Walker stumbles back a few steps, Taylor sizes her up and then drills her with a spinning heel kick that knocks Walker right back down.
Gemma Foster: Taylor was quick with that eye rake there. First Class is clearly looking to win by any means necessary.
Taylor hooks a leg for a cover, and the referee drops down. ONE....T-NO! Walker forces a shoulder up and Taylor merely snarls. She keeps control though, constantly using cheap tricks to stall Walker's comebacks. Walker manages to get to her feet against a headlock, punching Taylor in the ribs, and then going for the ropes, only to be yanked back to the mat by a sudden tug of her hair! The referee catches that one and admonishes Taylor who pleads innocence. Taylo sauntered over to grab Walker again, slowly pulling The Process to her feet, and Walker suddenly bursts up and drills a European Uppercut across Taylor's jaw! Walker grabs the stunned Taylor, whipping her into the ropes, and as she comes back, she's thrown high up, and then drilled into the mat with the All The Way Up (Pop Up Powerbomb)! Walker hooks the leg quickly and the referee slides into count. ONE...TWO...T-NO!
Sara Reece: So close for Walker there! Taylor just got a shoulder up.
Walker is managing to build some momentum through, and she climbs to her feet, fists pumping and snarling as she looks to see Taylor crawling away. The Process moves close, bending down to grab Taylor in a reverse waistlock, and Taylor throws her head back and cracks it into Walker's nose! First Class seizes her chance too, rolling Walker up, and grabbing a huge handful of tights as the referee slides into position. ONE....TWO....TH-NO! Walker manages to kick out! Taylor can only stare at the referee in disbelief, but it wasn't a three. Taylor clutches at her hair in growing frustration but then sees Walker pushing up on her hands and knees and Taylor charges in, leaping up and looking for her Beauty Improvement Pass, but Walker yanks her head back and Taylor stomps the mat hard. She wobbles around on one foot for a moment, and now Walker seizes her chance, clipping Taylor's bad knee from behind! Taylor collapses to the mat, and quick as a meerkat, Walker grabs her ankle, dragging her back to the center of the ring, and locking in the Process Lock!
Gemma Foster: Walker has the ankle! Taylor will have to tap!
Taylor screams in pain as her ankle is twisted, reaching out for the ropes but she's too far away. Taylor fights the pain for a few moments, raising her hand to tap, but then pivots her body, spinning over onto her back and using her free foot to kick Walker in the face two or three times and loosens her grip! Taylor quickly follows up by grabbing Walker by the back of the head and pulling her down into a roll-up! ONE.....TWO.....TH-NO! Walker manages to throw her body weight just enough to switch their positions and now Taylor has her shoulders down! ONE.....TWO.....THREE! The referee slaps the mat a third time and a second later Taylor manages to kick out, but it's too late!
WINNER: Jenna Jillian Walker via pinfall @ 15:09
VICTOREM LADDER MATCH
Serena Riot Vs. Jason Evans Vs. Kamila Rose Vs. Josh Goldstein Vs. Lacy Hartson Vs. Justice Cross
The crowd was roaring with excitement as the referee stood in the ring with the Victorem briefcase in his hand. He places it on a hook as it rises up high. One by one the competitors make their way to the ring. Lacy Hartson makes her way to the ring first and gets the crowd fired up. Justice Cross was out next and quickly made her way down. Out next was a fan favorite in Josh Goldstein as he ran around the ring. He looked at the ladders around the ring and slapped a few of the steps on one. Kamila Rose walked out slowly and through a puff of smoke. Dishonor’s Jason Evans came out next as he started to take down a ladder and slid it into the ring. The other competitors were eager to start as Serena Riot hit the stage. He pumped up the crowd and high fived fans around the ring and went right for Jason Evans as the bell rang!
Gemma Foster:Here we go, folks!
Riot and Evans battled on the outside as Rose and Goldstein looked at the ladder in the ring. Cross came over and looked for a crossbody but Rose and Goldstein caught her and worked together in a fallaway slam. They both got to their feet and Rose hit Goldstein with a forearm to the face. She pulled him in and hit an uppercut. She tried to send Goldstein over the top rope and he landed on the apron. Rose turned and Hartson was there to deliver and capture suplex. Hartson got to her feet and turned as Goldstein hit a springboard crossbody and took her out! On the outside, Riot speared Evans into the barricade as the fans cheered. Riot pulled him onto the announce table and started to set him up but he fought free and jumped down. He turned and Riot delivered a jumping clothesline off the table! Rose was up and battling with Cross in the ring as they went back and forth. Cross connected with a step up enziguri and popped up to her feet. Cross pulled Rose up and sent her into the corner. Cross looked for a corner splash but missed as Rose moved out of the way. Rose hit a discus elbow to the face and then went to the top rope. Rose came flying off the top with a meteora. Rose grabbed the ladder Evans had brought into the ring and started to set it up but Goldstein was there to push it in her face. She stumbled backwards and the fans cheered as Goldstein started to climb. He was quickly stopped by Riot as she pulled him down. Riot looked for a suplex but Goldstein countered with a DDT. Goldstein was up and Hartson caught him with Le Gasp (Lungblower Backbreaker)!
Sara Reece: I can’t keep up, Gemma!
Hartson started to climb the ladder but Rose rushed up the other side as the two exchanged blows. Jason Evans had another ladder in the ring and started to set it up before climbing quickly. Rose and Hartson reached over and started to exchange blows. Goldstein went up the otherside of Evans’ ladder as he and Evans kicked at the ladder Hartson and Rose were on. Hartson and Rose fell off their ladder as it tipped. Goldstein had his head slammed off the ladder and pushed off. Evans looked down and readied before hitting Goldstein with the Overdrive (630 Splash)!
Gemma Foster: You have to pull out all the stops to be able to get that contract!
Riot and Cross were the only two standing in the ring and Riot readied. Cross charged and Riot hit her with Bitch Go BOOM (Literally just pushes her opponent with both of her hands, sending them flying across the ring. Often done when opponent is running at Serena)! Riot was fired up and turned right into Rose hitting a drop kick. Rose stood and was hit with Hartson’s superkick! Hartson turned and hit Evans with a superkick! She turned around and Riot was to her feet.
Sara Reece: Here we go! Lots of people wondered what would happen if we got to this point.
Hartson looked for a superkick and Riot ducked under it. Riot tried to set up for Psychosis (Cradle Piledriver) but Hartson spun away. Hartson grabbed Riot’s hand for Headline (Eat Defeat) but Riot whipped her into the corner. Cross had Rose in the opposite corner. Riot looked for a corner splash and Hartson moved and ran to the other corner and hit Rose with Thunderstruck (Corner Hip Attack)! Riot hit Cross with Forever Undeniable(Ashlynn Cassidy's Ripcord Rolling Kick)! Goldstein came out of nowhere and connected with the Brooklyn Quebrada (Springboard Moonsault inverted DDT) on Riot! Hartson grabbed Goldstein as he stood and he sent her over the top ropes to the floor.
Gemma Foster: Josh is the only one standing in the ring! Go, Josh!
Goldstein started to climb up the ladder and had his hand on the briefcase but Evans was there to pull at his foot. He pulled Goldstein off the ladder but Goldstein quickly delivered Schmuck-Spiker (Poison Rana)! Rose grabbed Goldstein as he stood and hit her Rose Cutter (Arm Trap Headlock Driver)! Hartson was back in the ring and quickly made it to the top of the ladder and tried to get the briefcase. Rose punched her in the gut and then smashed her head on the top rung as she got to the other side of the ladder. Rose flipped over her and hit Twisting Vines (Pop Rocks (Sunset Flip Powerbomb))! Rose slowly started to get up and Riot came off the middle turnbuckle with Wicked Ways (Curb Stomp)! Riot started to make her way to the top of the ladder and got her balance. She pulled and got the briefcase off the hook as the bell rang!
WINNER: Serena Riot @ 25:29
Gemma Foster: Serena Riot just won the Victorem contract!
Riot checked on Hartson and helped her to her feet and made sure she was okay. Hartson said she was fine and held Riot’s hand up.
Sara Reece: What a match!
LOSER MUST RETIRE
CAGE MATCH
Daniel Daemon Vs. Johnny Maverick
After we came back from a brief commercial, the steel cage above the ring started to lower.
Sara Reece: Gemma, this one is personal. This one might be violent. This one is going to change the landscape.
Johnny Maverick made his way to the stage as he took everything in. He looked around the Warehouse and made his way to the ring and climbed into the steel cage. He shook the cage and slapped it as his music died down. The cheers for Johnny quickly took a turn as Daniel Daemon walked out and the fans booed him. Daemon walked slowly and stood at the bottom of the ramp. He looked into the cage and locked eyes with Maverick. Daemon walked up the steps and shut the door on the cage behind him as the bell rang.
Gemma Foster: The tension in the ring right now…
Daemon and Maverick met in the middle of the ring and Daemon looked down at him. Maverick offered Daemon the first shot and Daemon chuckled. Daemon pulled back and Maverick rocked him with a headbutt as the fans popped! Maverick laid into Daemon with left hands and started to drive his knee into Daemon’s gut. Daemon grabbed Maverick by the throat with both hands and tossed him into the cage! Maverick bounced off and came back with Prelude to Perfection (Jumping double knee armbreaker [Used to set up the Perfect Armbar])! Maverick started to stomp on the right arm of Daemon and dropped a knee onto the elbow. Daemon powered his way to his feet and got into the corner. Maverick started to chop and strike Daemon and Daemon pushed him backwards, causing Maverick to roll backwards. Maverick charged right into a big boot to the face! Maverick got up and took a hard throat spike. Maverick grabbed at his throat before being slammed to the mat with a scoop slam. Daemon looked for a falling elbow but Maverick was able to roll out of the way.
Sara Reece: Johnny is clearly trying to target that elbow of Daemon so that he can limit some of his hard strikes and maybe lock in that Perfect Armbar.
Daemon got to his feet and caught Maverick with a hard chop to the chest. Daemon grabbed Maverick and rammed him face first into the steel cage! Then the next side! Then the next side! Then the final side! On the last side, Daemon rubbed Maverick’s face into the steel cage before Maverick dropped.
Gemma Foster: Johnny is bleeding.
Maverick’s forehead had been carved up by the steel cage as blood started to run. Maverick just pulled himself up and put his hands up. Daemon grabbed him and looked for a chokeslam but Maverick kicked him in the gut and twisted Daemon’s arm before driving his elbow into Daemon’s elbow! Johnny was close enough to the cage that he swung Daemon’s arm backwards and the elbow connected with the cage. Maverick went to the corner and started to take the cover off the top turnbuckle. Daemon charged and hit a corner splash that pinned Maverick against the cage! Daemon hit the ropes and came back for another splash but missed and his head bounced off the cage! Maverick grabbed Daemon and slammed his head off the exposed turnbuckle! A cut opened over Daemon’s eye as the blood poured into his eye. Daemon grinned as he turned and was hit with a knee to the gut. The fans roared as Maverick hit a big German suplex!
Sara Reece: Johnny just slammed Daemon to the mat!
Maverick went into a cover and Daemon kicked out at two. Daemon’s rage started to build as he powered to his feet and hit Maverick with a hard kick. Maverick sent him into the ropes and Daemon came back with the Inquisition (POWERFUL running lariat)! Daemon pulled Maverick up and lifted him for a chokeslam and drove him to the mat. Daemon kept his hand on his throat and lifted him back up and looked for another and Maverick countered into a Fujiwara Armbar! He pulled back on the arm of Daemon and Daemon turned just enough to get some footing and punched Maverick over and over in the face until he let go. Both men were down as the fans cheered on.
Gemma Foster: The ring is covered in blood right now.
Daemon pulled Maverick to his feet and lifted him up, hitting the Power of Asmodeus (Delayed vertical suplex, sometimes only held with one arm). Daemon went into a cover and Maverick popped up at two! Daemon sliced his throat and pulled Maverick back up to his feet. He started to lift Maverick up for the Twist of Cain II (Vertical Suplex Piledriver) but Maverick caught Daemon in the head with a knee and came back down to his feet. He hit the ropes and delivered OFMF (Running palm strike (shotei) to the face)! Daemon staggered and Maverick dug deep before delivering Third Eye Opener (Ripcord Bicycle Knee Strike)! Daemon wouldn’t stay down as he kept getting back up. Maverick used his own power and was able to hit the Perfect Armbar (Double Underhook Suplex into cross armbreaker)! Daemon struggled and tried to get to his feet but Maverick flipped him back down back into another cross armbreaker. He tore at the arm of Daemon who eventually tapped out!
WINNER: Johnny Maverick via submission @ 21:09
Gemma Foster: I don’t believe it! Johnny Maverick just made Daniel Daemon tap out! The Emperor of Empire just lost!
Josh Goldstein rushes out to attend to Daniel Daemon. Josh was a fan favorite but few people were in the know that Josh was one of Daniel’s few friends no matter how evil he got.
Johnny Maverick: Dad. Hey… look at me. I need to say something to him.
Johnny is getting emotional. He has a microphone in hand. Josh has helped Daniel up so he can speak to his son. Daniel’s arm hangs limp at his side from all the abuse Johnny put it through and both he and Johnny are bloodied and bruised
Johnny Maverick: Dad… you talked to me about being the villain this place needed… taking delight in the destruction of others. For MY WHOLE LIFE you tried to teach me this and I couldn’t see it but looking at you…just so broken and pitiful…
Johnny’s tone is changing. There is a cruelty forming in his throat.
Johnny Maverick: I finally GET it.
The brief confusion is only amplified when Johnny quickly shoves Daniel aside and locks up with Josh. In an instant we see a dark metamorphosis as Johnny lifts Josh up and drills him back down on his skull with his fathers finisher ‘The Twist of Cain’
Johnny looks down at Josh… and a dark smile creeps onto his face as he picks the microphone back up. Daniel has rolled out of the ring and looks at what he has left for this industry now that he is forced to leave. His son… More his son than he had ever been before.
And Daniel smiles too. Because he knows he can safely leave now. Empire would have their new antagonist. Johnny grabs the microphone once more.
Johnny Maverick: MY NAME IS JOHNATHAN DAEMON AND I AM THE NEW EMPEROR OF EMPIRE!
Gemma Foster: What did we just witness!?
The fans are left stunned as Maverick, or Johnathan Daemon, looked down at Goldstein before we cut away for a commercial.
AJ Adams Vs. Marilyn Lee Cross (c)
We had made it to the main event of the evening as the fans were still buzzing from the last match. AJ Adams hit the stage first as the fans popped for him making his way to the ring. He rolled into the ring and started to stretch as he awaited, basically ignoring Cross coming out. Cross also had a big pop as she came out with the title around her waist. She entered the ring and held up the title. The match was announced and we were under way after she handed off the title.
Gemma Foster: It’s been a few months since AJ has competed inside the EW Warehouse but if anyone can be ready for Cross, it would be a seasoned vet like him.
Cross and Adams circled each other and finally locked up. Cross swung and Adams ducked it and tried to lock in Lights Out (Tazzmission) right away but Cross got out quickly! Adams smiled and offered to lock up with her and she pulled him in. Cross locked in a headlock and flipped him over and the two exchanged holds. Both were back up and Cross caught him with the Fist of God (Spinning backfist)! Cross hit a dropkick to the knees that caused Adams to drop to his knees. Cross caught Adams with a knee to the face and then pulled him back up. Adams shook off the blows and landed a kick to the gut. Adams looked for Eat It (Fame-Asser) but Cross moved. Cross looked for the Mary Go Round (Discus Big Boot) but Adams dodged it. She spun around and Adams dropped her with the Rough Landing (Kneecap Brainbuster)! He went into the corner and only got two as she kicked out.
Sara Reece: Pretty evenly matched here so far, Gemma!
Adams kept the pressure on Cross with scoop slams and holds, trying to tire her out. She’d start to stand and Adams would take her right back down. Cross started to battle back and Adams hit Break Stuff (Stunner) out of nowhere! Cross hit the mat and rolled out of the ring to get away. Adams sat on the mat and looked out at her. He got the fans clapping and looked for a suicide dive but Cross caught him! She used her power to catch him and lift him before hitting Do A Barrel Roll (Cartwheel Death Valley Driver) on the outside! Cross rolled into the ring and the referee started his count. Adams was able to get into the ring around 7 and Cross was right there. She had Adams back up to his feet and quickly lifted him and delivered Button Down (Big Bang Theory). She went into a cover and Adams kicked at right at two. Cross told him to stay down and SAY HER NAME. Adams sat up and Cross looked for Knee Harvey Oswald (Running Knee to the side of an opponent's head) and connected! Cross went into a cover and Adams kicked out once again.
Gemma Foster: I thought that might be it!
Cross waited for her opening and looked for John Wilkes Boot (Running Yakuza Kick to the back of the head) but Adams had it scouted and ducked! Cross turned right into Legacy Maker (Sister Abigail)! Adams pulled her up and delivered a second Legacy Maker! He went into a cover and the world was shocked when Cross kicked out at two!
Sara Reece: MLC KICKED OUT!
Adams couldn’t believe it and started to set her up for a third and she was able to counter into a small package and got two as Adams just kicked out in time. Both were up and Cross connected with Catch Your Breath (Striking Spear)! Cross and Adams were both up shortly and Cross locked in her John Wilkes Boot (Running Yakuza Kick to the back of the head)
Hungry Jaws (Dragon Sleeper w/ body scissors)! Adams refused to tap as she had it locked in tight. The referee came over and called for stoppage as Adams couldn’t answer.
WINNER AND STILL EW WORLD CHAMPION: Marilyn Lee Cross via stoppage @ 20:31
Cross pulled her hair back as she let go of the hold, the crowd cheering her on. Cross pulled herself up and held the title.
Gemma Foster: Say. Her. Name. Marilyn Lee Cross does it again, Sara. We will be ending the year with Marilyn as our-
The crowd loses their minds as "We Own The Night" by Hollywood Undead starts to play and Serena Riot walks out to the stage. She rushes to the ring with the Victorem contract in hand.
Gemma Foster: OH MY GOD!
Riot hands it off and is eager to fight as the referee calls for the bell.
Serena Riot Vs. Marilyn Lee Cross (c)
The fans roared as the bell rang and Cross put her hands up ready for a fight. Riot charged and pounced onto Cross as they rolled around on the mat and exchanged blows.
Gemma Foster: Serena Riot and Marilyn Lee Cross are going at it and the fans are on their feet!
They both got to their feet and Cross hit Catch Your Breath (Striking Spear)! Cross hooked both legs for a cover and the crowd counted along for two! Cross knew she couldn’t waste time and started to pull Riot into position. She pointed at the back of Riot’s head and looked for John Wilkes Boot but Riot dropped to the apron face first. Cross took a breath and turned back to Riot and started to pull her up and Riot looked for a small package! The crowd counted along and were shocked when Cross kicked out at two!
Sara Reece: Cross kicked out!
Cross and Riot tried to suplex each other as they stood and Cross lifted her for the Do A Barrel Roll (Cartwheel Death Valley Driver) but Riot battled her way out and countered with a DDT! Riot pulled Cross into position and hit her Psychosis (Cradle Piledriver)! Riot sat on Cross’ chest and pulled both legs back as the fans counted TWO! Cross was winded as she tried to get to all fours and Riot hit Wicked Ways (Curb Stomp)! She covered and Cross couldn’t kick out in time and the referee counted to three!
WINNER AND NEW EW WORLD CHAMPION: Serena Riot via pinfall @ 4:09
Gemma Foster: OH MY GOD! Serena Riot has pinned Marilyn Lee Cross and is the new World Champion!
Riot laid on the mat as she slowly sat up and was shocked. She got to her feet and was handed the title as she put her head on the title and said a few things. She screamed and held the title above her head as streamers popped. Riot looked at Cross and shook her hand as she sat on the mat. Riot exited the ring and hugged a few fans at ringside and started to make her way up the ramp and was met at the top of the stage by her wife, Lacy Hartson. The two embraced in a hug as we went off-air.
